Marianela Nuñez is just toooooooo adorable! She has been doing this for so many years but still being so humble! Responses and reacts so quickly to every single correction and comment despite being so exhausted ! I just love her so much !!! hopefully I could see her live performance one day....

There's a video of Lopatkina being coached by Makarova floating around YT. I made this exact comment and heard back from one of YT's ballet "influencers" that he'd seen Lopatkina that night after seeing the rehearsal video and that it was a little tense in the studio and Lopatkina had just done exactly what she wanted to do that night in performance and never mind about what Makarova had tried to suggest lols! Nela seems to truly have a beautiful work ethic and really does absorb and enact those corrections. Gotta say Monica's eye is incredible. ROH’s 2006 Giselle recording is the first time I’ve watched Nela dance. I still go back to that recording from time to time because I simply adore her portrayal of Myrtha so much. But now watching her interpret the same role 15 years later, I am even more amazed by how much she has grown and perfected her art from that already high caliber. Her tempo, interpretation of music and choreography, the way she carries her eyes…. Really shows how much thoughts she has put into the art of ballet!!
Is that the one with Cojacaru and I think Kobborg? Yes, she was an amazing Myrtha even back then. Kind of wish they'd had her dance opposite Osipova in the ballet cinema production in around 2014. I've still never seen anyone other than Martine van Hamel get in *two* promenade/penchees in the first part of Myrtha's choreography, but Nela's single is exquisite. Her musicality is very similar to Martine's. I first encountered her in a fouette video, so I came for the technique but stayed because she is just such a consummate artist, at the top of her game and still taking corrections to improve. Gotta respect that. I think she's the best in the world.
This is a property of intelligence - not everyone is able to understand that his personal potential is not limitless and to develop and move in a union correctly)) the sum of potentials ...N+M=
i'm just gonna go off here for a sec. marianela is a completely gorgeous dancer. and i don't think people see how hard ballerinas actually work, yk? it takes SO much effort for just this part, and your entire mind has to be set on the moment. i think most people don't treat ballet as a true sport, and it kills me bc we burn just as many calories as one would when running, or working out at the gym, etc. and girls like marianela are working hours upon hours everyday to nail just a single part or technique. i commend all the ballerinas out there for pushing so hard 🥰
Really so true, because its also art people minimise the incredible athleticism or just don't see it at all, which, really, is testament to how incredible classical dancers are.
I agree with the hard work it requires to be a ballerina but as a dancer I wouldnt like it to be seen as a sport. There is a fundamental difference between using technique and phsyical capacity as a means to an end (to express emotions and thoughts), than for the technique to be the end itself. In sports you are rated in an objective way based on what you can do, in art you use you training in towards subjective expression.
I’ve watched this several times, always marveling at the beauty of the relationship between these supremely talented individuals, Marianela, Monica and Tim. Pure joy to watch.
As a former ballet student, knowing how hard ballet is and how they obsess over every little detail in rehearsals. First modern ballerina I have been truly impressed with. Strong yet graceful and elegant. Effortless movements and hits the steps without falter. I think she will be among the greats.
Monica Mason is a lovely tutor and once upon a time, great dancer too. Marienela recently celebrated 25 years with RB. 2023 She's wonderful and her musical understanding is just spot on
It's fascinating to see Marianela--she of the radiant smile, whose face so vividly expresses the emotions of the characters she plays, and even the emotional essence of her steps--embody an ice queen without human feelings. Almost creepy, like a zombie twin of the Marianela we all love so much.

It's always special when Monica Mason coaches Myrtha, and it's really wonderful to see Marianela in the role. She has such energy and is so musical! I would love to see the full performance of this Giselle, it's sure to be really memorable!
It's hard for Royal Ballet Myrthas to follow Monica Mason's unforgettably powerful and ice-cold Myrtha.
