Each vw golf review, the motor journalists cannot find a thing to criticise. Golf is the car offers a complete package for the c segment.
They're extremely consistent, indeed. Unfortunately, that also equates to being extremely bland. These cars are everywhere...& they all look the same...

The fact that so many people have complained about the awful filter on so many videos and seeing that Carbuyer still refuses to acknowledge direct feedback from their viewers really shows how much they care about the actual people watching. Disgraceful.

Please remove the instagram filter, doesn't really improve the viewing experience does it now
You do not use Instagram filters on such Videos, it´s called color grading and that happened way before there ever was something called instagram or the fucking internet for that sake.
I just test drove one of these today and was blown away on how quick it was and how comfortable it was doing 70mph on some bumpy roads. Very good all rounder.
GTI is always be the standard of hot hatches. When you want to play safe, you never go wrong with the Golf, even tough so many better hot hatches out there. Just like Rolex in Luxury watch isn't ?

Love this car. Think it’s got a good balance between being sporty enough without verging on boy racer. Also I prefer it in three doors.

The regular gti doesn’t get the electronically slip differential only the performance pack version does

The 3 door looks so much better but sadly the mk8 will probably only be 5 door like the new polo, you also very rarely see 3 door mk7's driving around, every generation it becomes more rare

James I upgraded from a 2014 performance pack 3 door night blue gti to a 2017 white mk7.5 5 door performance pack gti with bresecia alloys ,manual of course .even better than mk7 your review was brilliant 😊
I normally hate leases but this is going for under 200 quid a month. Bargain price and you can just rake it for 2 years
The 3 door looks out of proportion, the Golf looks much better with 5 doors as do most hatchbacks except maybe the Audi A3 where actually the 3 door looks better and the 5 door looks like an estate / station wagon!
It's not a transmission tunnel, it is a exhaust tunnel.
Nice review, GTI has been overshadowed by the R but I bet it's fast enough for most and will be taking a lot of sales from the GTD due to 'you know what'. Just as long as it's noticeably cheaper than the R on PCP it should sell well (this wasn't the case with the Mk7).
I'd highly recommend the Performance Pack though for the minor premium, the review car has 19" wheels, delete those and you are half way to the PP which gives more power, better brakes and the amazing VAQ diff, now that is a drivers car and on 18" wheels it will ride better than your test car too, win win!
Personally for this gen I prefer the sharper design of the GTI over the R.

The GTI should have the engine swapped with the R. They should not have a more powerful model than the GTI.
Imran Rajput gti has always been front wheel drive though, it's the same engine in both the R has some hardware changes that boost the power output
They had that since the mk3 with the vr6 engine, they should make it back like then, a gti with an i4 and an r with a vr6

The golf r has much stronger internals (even though the engine on the gti can handle up to 320hp easily) + a bigger turbo (is28 vs is38)

you can spec Dynaudio with 9 speakers including a sub
You wasted half of the video talking about practicality. We have already seen that in the normal Golf review. GG. GTI is all about performance and everything u said was that u like the 6 speed manual.
BMW M140i if you want a proper hot hatch, 6 cylinders always beats 4
I’ve got a manual Golf R and think the gearbox is not the best. It bogs down under hard acceleration and is notchy compared to a Civic Type R.
Also, despite being massively competent in almost all areas, it’s just not a car that puts a big grin on your face. Most other reviews point this out so surprised this one is declaring golfs are such fun! A safe choice but pretty boring, so for fun I’d look at a Type R or Focus RS.

Its a shame the manual isnt great. Owners have to take that clutch pedal spring out, and the bleeder block valve mod.... to get it to feel good. In addition the clutch isnt beefy to handle more power and the gas pedal spacing is weird for heel toe. The hyundai i30n seems interesting though!

The rear seat leg and head room looks about the same as the Kia picanto but you didn't like that for some reason

People who don't need to carry around passengers and would prefer to have a massive driver door and window not to mention the overall aesthetics of a cleaner more streamlined vehicle.

227 Bhp In 2017 its lagging behind big time VW its not 2007 anymore and from 28k a complete RIP off you can get a Focus ST for 26k with 250bhp and a even skoda Octavia VRS with 245bhp for the same as a focus and a Peugeot 308 GTi With 270 Bhp and is More of a GTi than the VW.

Idk where you heard that but the dsg is one of the better dual clutch transmissions and one of the best automatic transmissions
It’s literally the best automatic box of any normal car (excluding 100kcars) bmw and merc don’t compare to a vag auto

Isn’t it DSG7 on facelifted models? Correct me if I’m wrong. Besides, please check your goddamn information before you do the review. Last time, even on the Panamera Review you said that the 4S model has a 3.0 V6 TT which is not! It is 2.9. Btw, my favourite car of all time is the GTI, and my ideal GTI would be a White 3 door Performance Pack with DSG7 and modern tornado 18´´ revolver wheels + full option such as leather seats, panorama sunroof, dynaudio audio system, etc. But without Digital Cockpit cos it looks SO MUCH UGLIER, 19 inch is too big for the car.
The GTi badge on the steering wheel and tartan seats are not just a cliche, they are cheesy, as is the Golf GTi. It smacks of the Golf GTi of 30 years ago, if fact all Golfs are just a dull morph of the previous model. Time VW grew a pair and brought out a completely new design.

Robert Bob:- Congrats, I am sure you will be happy with it, it's a good/very good car. I just remember my wife's, then girlfriend's, VW GTi from 25 years ago looked so similar. I guess it makes me feel how much has the Golf advanced design wise since then, and I feel very disappointed.
