Thanks for another good video. I shoot ISSF prone (Olympics style, no optics). I have been for about 15 years. I'm currently in the UK. When I first started I was shooting the cheapest ammo I could get at approximately $3/box of 50. At first, it didn't matter because I wasn't good enough to be able to tell any difference. Since then I've tried various ammo with mixed results. That was up until the last 3 years or so. Last year and this year I've been shooting SK Standard Plus (at approx. $5.50/box) and I've found a marked difference between that and something similar to CCI Standard Velocity. Now according to SK, Standard Plus is considered training ammo. I can get pretty good results with it when I weigh and sort it by the brick. Recently I had the opportunity to shoot Lapua CenterX in a competition without prior testing and it performed very well for me. I shot 575/600 for a PB. Lapua CenterX at the time was approximately $11.50/box, so in my opinion It is worth the money for longer range (50+ yds./m) precision shooting and the confidence that from shot to shot it will be consistent.
Good review of the SK Biathlon ammo. I did a test with 10 various ammo brands with my CZ 457 Varmint with a 6 by 20 Vortex, Talley rings, on sandbags at 50 and 100 yards. The clear winner was SK Standard, yellow and black box, followed by CCI SV and Norma Match. SK Rifle Match was further down the list. Always fun to test the ammo and rifle combos.
I tested about 8 different ammos so far in my new tikka t1x. I found wolf match extra (made by Eley) to be very good. I had better results with Eley Match and Eley Tenex. I also had very good results with SK Long Range. I don’t use CCI. I have eliminated Eley Target and Eley Contact. At this juncture I’m still assessing Wolf and Eley Match and Eley Tenex. Overall I’m seeking 5 shot groups at 50 yards of less than .4 moa which translates to less than .8 moa at 100 yards.
My t1x 22 lr shoots at 100m 0.5 inch. all the time . exclusively with Eley Match. Stock KRG Bravo bolts tightened with a torque of 3.5 N/m + barrel tuner.
My CZ 457 American shoots very well with the SK Biathlon Sport. Lots of 50 yard groups that go under half an inch. I graphed these and got an average velocity of 1,064 fps from the 24.8" barrel. I forget what the extreme spread was, but I remember the consistency was good. All of the SK varieties have shot well in this rifle. The Biathlon Sport shoots best. I think it's worth the extra cost.
SK Biathlon Sport works really good in my Tikka T1X 22lr at 50 meters/55 yards. It's a round for just that distance in winter condition at Biathlon competitions, but works good even in the summer for me, specially in windy conditions it's better than other SK for me.
I had some cci 500 ammo box shoot bad and some shoot very good...had good luck with eley subsonic and cci subsonic hollowpoints have not tried the expensive stuff yet .....thanks for the good videos 🍻
Tried my Tikka T1 UPR with Eley Club, target, sport all very good at 50m/100m. But not available now, bought 5k round CCI SV, haven't tried yet. Cheap Auglia Supersonic ammo are surprisingly doing very well at 100m. CCI sub HP are very good as well.
Out of my Tikka I use the CCI SV as a training round out to 50Y. Cheaper ammo, less consistancy (more fliers) but good for CHEAP practice. Stretching out to 100Y I find the SK Rifle Match good and the SK Long Range Match even better. Here in Australia the CCI goes for about AU$7 and the SK LRM for about AU$16. Is the price proportional to the performance at 100Y? I'd say it is and the SK has much better consistancy (less fliers) in my experience. Thanks for another Interesting video!
thanks for checking it out. I havent had a chance to try sk rifle match in the tikka yet but i'm hoping to get that and some standard plus pretty soon.
I've had the same result with SV in my Christensen Ranger. I might get 3 or 4 in a cloverleaf then one wanders off. Those would be at 50 yards. Premium ammo at 50 pretty much always shoots better but at 100 the value proposition tails off. I don't shoot matches so it's not that important to me.The SV at 100 is not hateful. Now Winchester black box bulk? I swear that stuff shoots 2 MOA at the muzzle LOL.
So the CCI will have an occasional flier, but it is decent for the price. Also, it is available just about anywhere you go. SK will produce better results. My favorite is SK Long Range at 50 of 100. A little more velocity helps. I see that Lapua is coming out with long range ammo which may be better at targets pushing 200 to 300 yards. When you get some give it a try and let us know. I am sure it will cost a bit.
Not sure why anyone waste there time with CCI of any kind...... Interesting to see the Biathlon however I will give some a try...... Thanks for the content!!!!!
Starting to hate premiers especially when I have to wait so long to see such a beautiful rifle shoot. Hope it shoots as good as it looks. Next time just surprise us and spring the video on us lol.
My Bergara B14 22 ,CZ457, and my Kidd 10/22 all shoot SK Rifle Match better than any of the other SK that I've found yet. They also shoot Eley Team and Match well.
Definitely designed for the cold weather of biathlon. Guess what question I always had is how those athletes deal with the cold bore shot. Not sure the size of the target at 50 meters, but considering they’ve got to be breathing pretty hard, heart rate way up, and cold bore shooting; turns out the prone shooting ones are 1.8 inches and the standing ones are 4.5”. So those targets are in that range. Your relaxed shooting doesn’t compare to what they are doing. Lol, next time jog around your house once then shoot. 😝

That’s awesome man, keep it up. I’ve always been impressed with sk standard plus. Hard to beat the entire center x family of products

Yes sir. Thanks for watching. The biathlon is new to me but I was fairly impressed
I’ll watch later. Thanks for doing this.

Some people have had good luck with the CCI sv but I haven't. Thanks for the video!
That seems to be my experience as well

Well presented and informative video.Thank you...appreciate the analysis also.Would like to see the Chronograph numbers on the SK Biathlon.
I plan on doing some further testing soon. Thanks for watching.
That wooks looks great!! Iv never hurd of that sk ammo.
Thanks man, I found the ammo at Doc’s in ozark
I have about 599 rounds through my Tikka T1X and so far I don’t have any cold barrel shift. I hope it stays that way.

SK long range is my go to ammo for my vudoo in PRS Rimfire and NRL22. its good stuff.
I don’t bother with CCI unless I’m plinking or goofing off. If the goal is to go small as possible …I KNOW it ain’t gonna happen with CCI
No doubt
Not sure why anyone waste there time with CCI of any kind...... Interesting to see the Biathlon however I will give some a try...... Thanks for the content!!!!!
I use the cci as training ammo, but that’s about it.
Is that stock originally for the T3? Don't see one on their site for the T1X.
Starting to hate premiers especially when I have to wait so long to see such a beautiful rifle shoot. Hope it shoots as good as it looks. Next time just surprise us and spring the video on us lol.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
It has a lot to do what you the shooter believe in,great video
Thanks
Great video!

Sk match has always been a solid performer for me.
But costs about 40 cents a round
For practice I think I'd go with cci, just more bang for your buck in cost saving
That’s what I use it for
Think the Biathlon is supposed to perform better in cold environments then regular ammunition. You should send it to me to test. Lol
Get in line buddy
@@Dayattherange 🤣🤣🤣🤣
If that’s the case then today should have went better…… 🤣
@Midwest Long Range I'm not sure. I still think I need to test. Lol
Try the SK Pistol Match and Pistol Match Special. My Tikka seemed to like the Special.
I’ll have to see if I can find some
My 457 shoot SK ,Eley and Wolf match very good
Looks a bit like your rifle is canted to the left looking at the top turret.
i believe that sk biathlon was primarly designed for 50 mt shooting in the winter olympics, cold climates and only 50 metres.
Interesting, that would make sense based on the results I’ve seen
Definitely designed for the cold weather of biathlon. Guess what question I always had is how those athletes deal with the cold bore shot. Not sure the size of the target at 50 meters, but considering they’ve got to be breathing pretty hard, heart rate way up, and cold bore shooting; turns out the prone shooting ones are 1.8 inches and the standing ones are 4.5”. So those targets are in that range. Your relaxed shooting doesn’t compare to what they are doing. Lol, next time jog around your house once then shoot. 😝
How ya like that chassis
So far i really like the feel and it’s handling.
🖤💛
I still say, 22 rifles were twisted for standard velocity, and it still is. You tell me
All of my guns shoot best at “standard velocity” between 1050, and 1100
My T1X is prone to flyers compared to my 457.
Is it just me or has Sk standard like disappeared from the planet. havent seen it online anywhere in several months.
I know where a little bit is but not much….
sk biathlon looks like it could be promising for you. I don't think CCI SV is what it use to be. NOW go get your duff in the Z Challenge 🤣🤣
I did the z yesterday with all my factory barreled actions…. Talk about a train wreck lol
@@midwest_long_range 🤣Well I know how you feel though I did sort of redeem myself in the latest video.
I shot it with the vudoo for the first time but the wind and COLD 🥶 is killing me!!!!
WhTs the point of this test?
Just to compare what each would do out of this particular rifle. At the given distance is the cheaper ammo comparable. That’s all.
It's all psychological 🤔
$6 more for a bit more confidence in your ammo? Pay your money take your choice 😆
TURN THE MUSIC DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my tikka T1x shoots best with SK Biathlon and Lapua Center X ( 50 Meter).
