Brilliant !!!! First part got to me thinking about my great grandfather staying in the Barrack - my Mam now in her 90's remembers making the weeks food for her taid to take with him - the quarry shots make it unbelievable to think of the men's working lives all in the aid of the bloody "Penrhyn's".
Hi Jason - love this vlog. The panos of the barracks are 2 of my favourites but the winner for me is at 13:15 - outstanding composition and very dramatic. Thanks.
Awesome video Jason. Your images from the quarry really are magical, they really do portray the sheer size of the quarry. I bet you could spend a lifetime photographing there and still not capture all the compositions, truly awesome !!!
Yet another fabulous vlog, i dont have your skills but the quarry is one of my favourite locations and it always amazes me how you manage to find so many amazing compositions whatever the weather. Please keep the vlogs coming.
I have to agree with Paul Jonson on this can’t say no more on how cool your images are. And the amazing I think my second best thing or place I have ever seen and been to lol can’t wait to get back there.
Smashing video. That is a very atmospheric quarry especially around the houses and sheds where the men stayed and worked. I like the subdued lighting you found for the rows of little houses which gives them a sombre 'feel' which seems very fitting to their history. I really look forward to your next visits there, I love your shots.
One of the best vlogs I've seen for a long time. All that the viewer needs. I'm looking to spend a full day, sunrise to sunset in the area next Saturday and this was very useful indeed. Thanks.
Another great video Jason, thanks. It is an interesting mix of beautiful scenery mixed with the desolate slate mine and crumbling buildings. Great images.
Got to say I really enjoyed that one mate. Some cracking images in there, especially like the one at 13:19 but plenty of other crackers. It does look epic up there, might have to get meself down there sometime soon. Cheers. Pete
I dont know if you have always described how you are going to take "this" image, but tonight I've listened with more interest, tonight its been like a bedtime story listening to you go thru' thinking, really enjoyed it. Images great as usual, blog better than best if thats possible. What a legacy those workers left us, a photographers paradise (lets not forget the climbers and the casual Sunday walkers) it their playground as well, we're lucky to have this on our doorstep.
Superb vlog Jason..brought back some good memories as me and some friends were up there at the Barracks back in February ..just wish my shots had come out as good as yours..alot of mine ended life in the recycle bin..thanks for sharing and keep up the good work..
Superb images... Great chilled vlog.. For me North Wales is hands down winner for photography... And I've not really shot there yet.. Only driven though many times in a truck... I think a wild car camp is on the cards soon lol... Thankd for sharing Jason.
Its a great location, with pretty much an infinite variation of shots in the different weather and light. The names of the levels like "New York" and "Australia" are rumoured to come from the destinations the slate was transported to. These slate ships were also used for the slave trade, from which the Pennant family, who owned the quarry, made most of their money.
Image image image! Lots of great shots, love it. I really enjoy it when it’s just not one image and you never do, always filled with quality shots Jason 😁👍
I know you were thinking black and white originally but I believe color was the way to go. I love that style of subdued color. It almost looked like the greens were desaturated. That is such an interesting place. I guess the old barracks would have had thatched roofs? I think the New York shot was my favorite. My eye could wander there for awhile. Very nice video.
Stunning place to be, my image of the barracks ( tmhphotograph.co.uk places of interest ) looks moody but that was the hight of summer I.m going back hopefully this summer...great vlog as usual....martin
Really loved that shot straight down the centre of the abandoned barracks ... very dramatic ... emotional even. Great vid Jason. Nice one. 😁 All the best buddy.
Jason Jones Photography .... When I see that sort of image .... It gets my imagination going.... As if I were there during its occupied days. Great composition from up there on the rock. Keep up the good work mate... We're all lovin it and appreciate the efforts made. Cheers.
Great location again Jason. I actually found myself picking out the shots just before you mentioned them, I must have learnt what to look for from you. Thanks
In my opinion one of the most iconic locations in North Wales and Jason, your photographs do it justice.
The two pano images were stunning and the black and white image was great as well. Thanks for sharing
Wow.......simply amazing and what a talent. Stunning
What a place to photograph!
Wow.... Such great photography and your presentation is so engaging ... thank you so much for sharing with us

Thanks Helen :)
Really good eye to spot so many compositions you can shoot with the trees you crossed. That's definitely something I can improve on.

Dim probs.

Fantastic panos Jason, great vlog. I was there last year and it was peeing down all day.

Philip Culbertson I think the Barracks rooves may have been slate ;-)
Probably right. Slate was a lot more available there than thatch material.
Thanks Philip the barracks rooves were slate... you have to desaturate the greens as it was too green lol
Great location, great shots!
Take care - Hubert
Thanks You :)

thanks Alex
