@@AlexReidStudios haha yes, I was a beta tester and made some presets for it as well, the mod remapping was the first thing that really sucked me into vital, I wish every synth had this now
@@DataBroth The possibilities are overwhelming at first. The only thing that Vital can't module is something like the preset picker. Wouldn't be a surprise if it did haha.
@@AlexReidStudios preset switching would be cool, I don't think we're quite there yet with synths this deep, though I know some synths can do similar stuff to that
Amazing tutorial, having those text boxes stay there during the whole segment makes it very easy to browse through the video When you PM/FM with a keytracked lfo, I recommend setting the modulation to bipolar, so that the modulation isnt just happening from the center up (and getting clipped at the top) That chorus trick is interesting, i never used the freeze mode there before. You used 3 random modulators but all with identical settings, to get different modulations on all the destinations I assume; wouldn’t just using 1 random modulator still produce unique modulations on all the destinations? Or would they be identical in that case? I’m genuinely unsure of this
Funny enough I used to set the PM to bipolar, a few of us testing Vital had a long discussion about this, after doing some side by side comparison it turns out there is no significant difference between uni/bipolar modulation on the osc phase in Vital. And as far as it getting clipped, this actually relates to a tip from the next video ;) Yes you could use the same random mod for all 3 chorus controls, and in most presets this would probably be a better idea to free up more modulation, but you also get the exact same random motion being sent to all 3 controls, by using 3 different sources you get different motion from each random mod, at .001 seconds it likely makes no difference, but it prevents all 3 controls from staying at one value together
@@DataBroth I guess uni vs bipolar makes more difference when modulating osc transpose then. That’s what I was wondering about the random mod; if routing one random modulator to multiple different parameters means that all those parameters are getting the exact same random motion, or if each of them still get unique motions from eachother even though theyre coming from the same modulator. I think I asked matt about it a long time ago but don’t remember the answer lol. I guess it’s easy enough to get a definitive answer though by just trying
@@borrasca yes, on transpose it will make a huge difference, on phase it just matters which direction you are traveling and at what rate, but the "distance" traveled doesn't affect it as it is a rotational control and yes the random mods output the same random value to each control, would be cool to have a button for unique outputs
