I love this mech. It's easy on Logistics and maintenance is like upkeep on a Sherman or a T34. Aka EASY. So long as you read the manual. Plus, you can customize it almost as much as the Marauder. If the Mad Cat is the face of the franchise and the Atlas is the premire assault mech, the Warhammer is "reliability incarnate".
This. I'm not the only who sees it as a Sherman concept. "Oh, what's that? We lost one? Lol, time to pick the fresh one from storage then. We'll let the opfor have the salvage on the last one." "Operating on foreign grounds? No prob! Let's buy some surplus parts scavenged from the thrift store."
TBH I like the older look better the redesign gets too narrow in the waist and hips and makes it look like a big weak spot not to mention the human sculpted armor buldges on the legs now just look off
So you're saying the Warhammer went on a diet and lost some weight in the middle, and now it looks off? 😄 What are your thoughts on the other re-designs that have happened over the years?
@@HPGBlackout well first to clarify are we just talking about the new catalyst sculps or also mwo. and ide say for the most part the redesigns have been successful though some less so than others. The awesome, direwolf, and phoenix hawk are all great examples of successes but ide argue that this rendition of the warhammer makes it look lighter in tonnage and protection than its 70 tons would suggest. also the grand dragon looks so wide now that it seems silly to have low profile quirk.
@@charlesballiet7074 I appreciate your opinions and agree that there have definitely been some hits and some misses. I am a Marauder fan myself and wonder what you think of it's remakes.
@@HPGBlackout while i do love the classic marauder look I think the beefing up of the upper arms and longation of the torso helps the mech feel more proportioned and less of an interior black hole anime super mech but i do love the ball turrets on the chin of the classic. from a strict design wiziwig to rules point of view i wonder if the bomber style cockpits should count as torso mounted since they have no neck or head that can swivel but i digress.
We would prefer that you not open that can of worms. but for clarity's sake: Battletech used to use a bunch of Robotech/Macrosse Designs that they had paid to use the rights for. Then, as it turns out, the people who they bought the rights from had purchased rights to make robotech videogames and didn't in fact own the right to sell rights. this f***ed FASA games in the a*s when the actual rightsholders noticed Battletech. as a response, all the designs that weren't 100% in-house were made 'unseen' and no images of a large percentage of the mechs were allowed; including some very popular designs like the Rifleman, Marauder and Warhammer, which were and are considered core to the entire franchise's mech lineup. now a large number of unseen mechs have become 'reseen' after a franchise wide artstyle update to make the mechs bulkier, boxier and more grounded in design; and to make the designs different enough from HarmonyGold's copyrights to be legally distinct.
It's a Destroid Tomahawk from Macross, FASA licensed it and Robotech came a little bit later, using animation from Macross re-cut with some other animes into a new series. A whole bunch of the original Battletech mechs were licensed from Macross.
Tex has a lore video on this, I just put out a short intro to it because that is what I make. 😁 But I do love BPLs content for deep dives into some topics.
The Warhammer. The epitome of good enough.
But it is so good at good enough though isn't it?!?
@@HPGBlackout Oh, absolutely. Sometimes, good enough is perfect.
I see you watched Tex's Warhammer video. 👍
@@thedriver1270yeah I came to say the same thing BPL and Tex did a great video

The Warhammer is definitely one of the iconic Mechs in the BattleTech universe but I want to know why you think the Atlas is the premier Assault Mech?
@@HPGBlackoutIt's like a walking Abrams. It's the epitome of "you cut the king, you'd better kill the king!"

This was the mech that got me in love with Mechs. All around great platform, just like it.
The very first mech I ever used. Love the thing, and the metric standard I use.
I keep falling in and out of love with it because i want a hammerhands so bad but the Warhammer treats me so good
Battle field presence. That is a good angle to discuss! Some mech's have it in spades.
What Mechs do you think have it?
The OG poster girl for Battletech. 👍
If the Warhammer is the OG then what is the Current Poster Girl for BattleTech?

calling it warhammer and it lacking a chainblade
disappointed
OMG, giving a Warhammer a chainblade for a melee weapon sounds amazing!
In it's defence, the Whammy is older than 40k by a good 3 years.
Mine has mrm40 mix with ER med lassers, light machine guns and runs at 120 km/h an Speedo surprise For MWO.
Not the biggest, not the best, but definitely top 3 most badass looking mechs.
A Tomahawk to the face, always classy.

The original art design for the Warhammer is one of the "Unseen" or "Project Phoenix" Mechs that drew from other source media like Macross.
