This song rings so true to me. It was only when I had hit Rock bottom that I called out the name of Jesus. Often, when we're comfortable, we do not always see the need for a saviour. When you are humbled by various circumstances, it prompts you to seek Him.
Switchfoot Songs have always touched my heart so much. I realize, it is quite sad to know that as the days & years go by...I find it difficult to speak about my faith. Either when I say I am Christian or that I believe in God, people see me as an oppressor. I find it quite hard to pray in front of; people, at work, with my group of friends & organizations because all they see is the bad things in Christianity. I get so fearful about the future, all I hear is the shame of my accuser. People call me: stupid & Naive for believing in God but if only they knew. What would you tell a 11 year old girl who had been placed at an orphanage, who had seen how her mother suffered at the hands of a violent man, who had suffered hunger, abuse & separation? That no one cares for her? That God isn't real? Sitting on a corner of an orphanage, that was the state I was in when someone told me about God. The day I found God, My world changed, all of a sudden I had HOPE. That little girl who didn't want to live anymore found; strength, found peace in the places she had forgotten. Found riches in the midst of poverty. This isn't an illusion, I made it this far alive because I found God. Please don't take my hope away. Christianity is not just the bad things. I have learnt to Hope, to Love others, to fight for others, to pray, to have strength, to have faith. You may delete me for speaking about God but I Will NOT stop speaking about my God. This song has touched my heart so much.

I was on the road to success (so I thought) and I was high and mighty (so I thought)and everything “perfect”, until God took in all away and only then was I allowed to see that none of those ‘successes’ mattered. I realized I needed God/still need Him. Through losing everything including myself, I was able to find Christ. This was much greater than anything I once had and I am forever grateful it happened.
