    Yes. I've done smudging, however usually I normally use a smudge pot. Same concept, just no need for making sticks. Toss herbs into an old coffee can, and add a small amount of beeswax. It's similar to a candle and allows the herbs to burn for a long time. Love the video! Thanks for sharing

    I am an ojibwe native in Ontario canada....I've been introduced to using smudge sticks since I was a younging.... we use the smudge stick for many reasons..
    Purify the air....just like how rain changes the ions in the air...so does smudge sticks.
    Smudge sticks are great for evicting spiders, and other nasty bugs from their hideouts and crannies..they don't like the smoke, nor the oils from hanging smudge sticks around.
    To get a real good smudge smoke...get yourself a coffee tin , toss in some dried herb, and drop some coals , from the wood stove..in it..it will smoke really good.
    Alot of Natives and Mountain men, used smoke baths, as a way to disinfect the bacteria on their skin.

    I smudge for spiritual reasons around the house a few times a year, but will go to once per month now that I know its health effects last for 30 days. I started making smudging wands (feather wands that help move the smoke around) as a creative outlet. I've given them as gifts and people love them. Thank you for posting this video. Well done!

      Thank you :-) Thanks for sharing a little about the using smudge sticks spiritually. I know it is a thing, but I certainly couldn't speak to it, so I just wanted to recognize it and then move on :-)

    Oh, wow, I've been burning white sage for about six years now and I never knew it had anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. How great.
    Just found your channel tonight. I see you haven't been able to make videos this past year or so. Sending love to your family.

    My fathers side of the family are huge believers in smudging. Mother never allowed it becuase she thought it was cajun mumbo jumbo. Wish I had taken the time to learn all the combinations and what they do from my greandmother. Enjoyed your video.

      Thank you so much! If you really want to get back into it White Sage would be the way to go, in my opinion. It's a great leaf to use to keep other things going, like the rosemary that we put in our smudge sticks.

      Do you make them purely from sage, or are there some more bee-friendly herbs we should know about?

    • @ABEEFRIENDLYCOMPANY
      @ABEEFRIENDLYCOMPANY 7 років тому +5

      Sage, ceder, and some times incense stick of frankincense
      I am really big on using incense for the smoke to control the bees.
      you can take playdoo and put in on the side of the hive and push your smug in it or a few sticks of incense. it will just slowly mist the top of the hive as your work, and you do not need to keep pumping the smoker.
      Smug and incense are easy to light and will burn slow for long time.

    Had people living in my farm house. Left filth all over upstairs. Mouse dropping urine filled carpets from dog and cat left. Odor so bad I had hard time breathing. I tried bleach, baking soda, vinegar etc.. nothing worked. Every time the wind came from certain direction urine odor filled the house. Out of desperation I smudged the house. No spiritual reason for doing this. Just odor. I can tell you it knocked down the odor. Fast. Will see how long it lasts. Thanks for the video.

    I use incense for smoke to repel misquotes but it can get expensive. I also use coffee grounds to smolder but that also gets expensive. I also use punkwood but that doesn't last long. I think i found a solution to my problem.

    Bleach, gamma rays, and arsenic also kill microbes for persistent lengths of time. But correlation is not causation, and even if in this instance the smudge sticks do as advertised (I actually think they do given the various compounds contained within many plants), having the ability to destroy microbes isn't an impressive ability, or essentially a positive health benefit.
    Certain bacteria species are essential to our health, as they aid in digestion, secrete enzymes that reduce inflammation, and/or prevent other potentially harmful strains from multiplying.
    The anti microbial claims of most products aren't always rooted in clear evidence, and the conclusions aren't always supported by the sources as having positive benefits.

    • @JandjacresNet
      @JandjacresNet 7 років тому +1

      I appreciate what you are saying, but I believe it was clear that I was referring to the types of bacteria and viruses that make humans sick, not the kind of bacteria that keeps our gut flora happy.
      The study I was referring to is the in the video description. A 3 min UA-cam video will never replace a scientific study, but it can draw in awareness.

    I never call it's smudging cause that sounds kind of stupid~ I just call it "burning sage" and I do it to get clarity, I do it to clear out negativity or negative spirits, I work in health and healing and I am a clairvoyant and I see and feel spirits all the time so this is something I do that's very positive and I would recommend it for anybody😙
