Greg! Fantastic spot-on cover. Cetera was a criminally underrated bassist, and the man responsible for inspiring me to take up the bass in the first place! Thanks for shining a light on this.
Greg your tabs are great, I become a better bass player every time I work on them. Keep them coming.. You solved so many mysteries for me from some of my favorite songs of all time,.
my instructor pointed me towards Peter Cetera to help understand the technical aspects of his playing. THIS is amazing, very well played and your sound is beautiful. Bravo!!
Hi Gil, thank you very much. There's another good Peter Cetera bass tune called "Lowdown" (I did a cover of it). Check it out and good luck with your studies! :)
Great job with the transcription of the music and bass playing! I noticed you have a Fender Jazz Bass. I have a 1974 Fender Jazz (black body and white face) and need to bring it out to play again. Thanks for doing this, Greg!
Amazing execution, thanks so much for the content. It's helping me with my progress. A bit of feedback if you please set the tabs just above the video progress bar, so when people pause (I do it often), the red line doesn't get in the way.
@@BassCovers Don´t get me wrong, I've played this video like a thousand times. I'm still working on it and perfecting my execution for this song (something you have reached already). Outro is a real pain but I'm taming it . The tab thing I said earlier is because I had to practice pausing for a long period of time in a single part of the song and the red line is in the way. Nevertheless a great piece and a great execution, also a great transcription.
This is one of those songs that makes me think more bands should have two bass players, one rhythm and one lead. The intro if this song has no bassline, it has a high solo from the bassist, the baseline doesn't start until the singing starts. If there was a rhythm bassist, he probably would have started playing the baseline when the drums started, but instead we get a decent solo with no bottom end.
This is a great cover! Thanks for doing this (I know I'm late to the party). Question? Is it a B or a Bb @2:18? It sounds like a Bb and the tab shows Bb but the chord is listed as a B. I assume it's just a typo!!! Great job!
Peter Cetera is no joke on bass huh? The entire band was unbelievable. I have a request Greg! I just heard MacArther Park by the great Jimmy Webb. Joe Osborn got the nod for this one and for which he uses a 8-string Hagstrom bass for. Regardless - do you think you can sift out the bass part and transcribe? It’s sort of low in the mix but I have faith in you! Now go git it Greg. I’m dying to see these parts played in front of my very eyes. Thank you once more for your tireless efforts.
Peter is definitely no joke on the bass...haha, in fact he's very serious :) I had a listen to your request, and though I appreciate the suggestion, I'm going to pass on that one...thank you :)
Hi Randy, thanks for the message. Muzento is undergoing some major changes. Your best bet would be to find it here - www.gregstranscripts.com/product-page/saturday-in-the-park-chicago-tab-notation - Please note this is the TAB and Notation version. Thanks!
Hi gino. Sorry about that. I can see you signed up at Muzento. I had a small problem with my mail/api provider where confirmation emails have stopped being sent. I hope to resolve this soon (a couple of days). If you're in a hurry - you could make a donation and I would email it to you. Thanks and sorry again for the inconvenience.
Hi Beth Jay, yes you do have to signup to use Muzento. Alternatively, you can get the transcription at www.gregstranscripts.com I hope that helps and thank you for your interest in my work :)
The older i get, the more i appreciate Chicago, and Cetera in particular. Excellent cover!
Thanks very much. Peter Cetera is awesome!
Greg! Fantastic spot-on cover. Cetera was a criminally underrated bassist, and the man responsible for inspiring me to take up the bass in the first place! Thanks for shining a light on this.
My pleasure and like you said, criminally underrated!
I am blown away by the amazing precision of your cover, and the absolute genius of these beautiful bass lines.
Peter Cetera, is a heck of a player...thanks very much :)
Wow. You must be one of the most polished bassists I've ever sen so far Greg. Thank you!
Wow, thank you very much :)

Bravo! You really unburied a lot of notes as well as the silent moments!
Hi Dan, thanks very much. I think he's underrated as a bass player.
Greg your tabs are great, I become a better bass player every time I work on them. Keep them coming.. You solved so many mysteries for me from some of my favorite songs of all time,.
What a nice comment. Thank you very much Anthony :) I'll keep 'em coming, and you keep getting better!
You are a beast on the bass. Slappin’ those strings like they owe you money😎

Thanks! My kid wants to play the piano part and I have to work up the bass part. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to read music.
cool...I hope this helps :)
This one I've been playing for years. I have the sheet music for this one, although I deviate from it often. Nice work.
hey Tony. Ya, if I was playing it in a band (live situation) I'm sure I would deviate from whats written too ;) Thanks!
Excellent
Thanks very much :)
Thanks again Greg
My pleasure...thank you!
Love it!
Thanks Havoc (Rick) :)
Amazing execution, thanks so much for the content. It's helping me with my progress. A bit of feedback if you please set the tabs just above the video progress bar, so when people pause (I do it often), the red line doesn't get in the way.
thank Juan, I'm really glad its helping you. Your suggestion has been noted (try using "Full Screen").

I’ve watched a half dozen times. I almost have it……. I better hurry, I don’t have that much time left on this earth.😊
haha...keep going :)
Very good!
thanks Bass Player ;)
Great song Greg!
Hey Clarke...totally! A classic :)
I love this song by Chicago. :)

@@BassCovers I agree. I love Chicago. They're an awesome group. :)
What?! - Another Great UA-cam Transcription/Tutorial by Greg Fairweather?! - Of Course! - ; -)
hey Ernie:) Thanks man ;)
Stumbled across this because I have been on a Chicago kick lately. awesome cover would you consider covering Casual affair by Tonic?
thank you...I'll have a listen
Always the best!
Thank you Thomas :)

Interesting idea. I'm not sure what the guitar player would think, but an interesting idea :)
It's funny how bass lines don't always sound funky without the ghost notes and the rest of the band playing.
Fucking awesome

I agree. The Bm7/Eb sounds REALLY crunchy. Bbm7/Eb is very smooth
WOW. You’re a fcukn beast.
hehe...thanks :)

@@BassCovers copy that. Thank you for the reply Greg. It’s a weird song, yes?
@@luvbasses5487 It's a little different. I couldn't really hear the bass?
@@BassCovers as I said...it’s low in the mix and he’s picking away on a Hagstrom 8 string.

sorry, just what you see there.
Can you do Dialogue Pts I & II
I'm not sure. I'll check it out. It sounds long :)
What fender bass is this? Love it!
hey Fender Man - thanks! It's a '76/77 with EMG's and a BadAss bridge.
