I think this song applies to both the 1920s and 2020s - To me it's all about those in power and their cirruption, it highlights how the world powers destroy peace just to satisfy their ego. The 1920's led to the rise of facsim and ultimately the 2nd world war. I think it warns us that history is repeating itself in the 2020s - those in power are still a-holes pushing towards conflict. Certainly rings true when you look at what is happening with Ukraine.

It's funny how Ghost released an album about plague just before Covid, and then they released an album about imperialism just before the invasion.
