No one ever talks about this, but it’s a lot of the process for me as well. I spend days doing prep work

I only paint on watercolor paper with my oils. I've tried a few different surfaces and it is by far my favorite.

Great video. I like to use a sperate paper between the drawing and the canvas. This way I can keep the drawing without the charcoal on the back of it. I am Looking forward to part 2.

The charcoal transfer method is crazy messy lol. Back when I was into tattooing, we used Graphite Transfer paper for sketches. So it works easy for transferring to Canvas as well. "Graphite Transfer paper" not Tattoo Stencil paper. You can also reuse the Graphite Transfer paper multiple times. THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEOS!!!!!!!

i used to use graphite transfer paper for years but i found the lines weren’t dark enough to be visible after i laid down the tone and underpainting 😅 maybe i’ll try some charcoal transfer paper

@@HappyDArtist You are right the lines are very faint! They would basically disappear with a tone over them! 😭 I use acrylics and paint Alla Prima style so most of the time I just need a basic outline of what I'm painting. I've went from grid method to full on projector mode because of the size of my paintings. Grid method was a big time waster too. Have you tried projectors? I'm basically a projector junky now ... I can't go back😅

Have you thought about buying a projector and using it to transfer your drawing instead of using the charcoal method? And thanks for sharing your work with us :D

Why don't you draw directly on the panel? Its what I've always been doing, is it wrong?

Did you prime the wood panel or was it pre primed?

Would a projector help in this case? I feel like it would reduce the cost of buying so many materials to trace the images. I bought one used for 20$ at goodwill and I've been thinking of using it for my art projects when I do a digital painting 🙂

Is that rotring? I thought rotring was only in black and silver, where did you get that color from?

But why you have to transferred the sketch , when u can draw the sketch directly on the paper? Why so many steps?

great question - it’s because i can initially draw on a smaller scale when measuring out the proportions/composition (it’s easier to do on a smaller scale for me).

What a beautiful documented process!💞😻🔥I use charcoal paper, which goes even faster when transferring! ^^

ooh thanks for the tip, i’ll check out charcoal paper! do you find that it creates dark enough lines for laying down an underpainting or ebauche layer with oils?
