Hey guys, i know i totally missed out on the 3 bonus tracks on the deluxe version, so here are my additional comments for those songs: Howl: Beautiful, thoughtful song with an amazing octave layered vocal (you know i love those layers!) And wow the harmonies caught me in that chorus. Don't Panic: "Sadness is secret cos boys don't cry" - love that lyric, it says so much about this song - in fact this is one of the most lyrically strong songs on the album. Up In Flames: This intro is giving me 90's feels in spades! It's got a touch of Madonna chords wise (think Ray of Light / Frozen), i like how the music continues to be big throughout the verses and choruses, it's a wall of sound, and actually the drums turn really 80's in the end :)
thank you Nina! you’re review is fabulous. I love the album Palo Santo deluxe so much I have it on repeat since release date till this day whenever I can manage to listen. It’s hard to pick faves 😉
Hey, I loved the way you analyzed this, I managed to notice some things that I never would otherwise :D But I think you should have listened to the deluxe version, 'cause you are missing out on three amazing songs 👌👌👌
Hi! Started to follow your channel when you uploaded the Sway reaction because of the way that you talk about music, technically and sonically...I think you’re the best reactor (??) channel out there! You also react to a lot of music that I like! Palo Santo is AMAZING! Please go on! Would love to watch you react to Sweetener by Ariana Grande when it will come out and...if you haven’t heard it yet it would be very cool to see your reaction to Banks two album “Goddess” and “The Altar”, you’re going to LOVE her. 💞💪🏼Byeee
lorenzo ewew hey! Wow thank you so much, what a lovely comment. It’s such a good album isn’t it! I will definitely be doing Sweetener - cannot wait for that album 👌🏻😊 & I will go and have a lil listen to Banks - thank you for the recommendation!! Have a lovely day 🎶
Nice video. I decided to write a review for this album. Hope you like it. Years and Years, Palo Santo To draw a comparison to Years and Years debut album Communion, it is quickly apparent that the songs have a definite catchier feel. Albums that I have immediately enjoyed in the past have often lead me to grow tired of them quickly. Not yet. The songs definitely have a feel that aims to appeal to larger numbers of people but with a musical depth and enough deep meaningful lyrics to portray the lead singer’s life struggles, it’s an album to be taken seriously and brings to the forefront Olly Alexander’s sexuality in an uncompromising manner. The first album, Communion, took me quite a long time to appreciate fully, maybe because I couldn’t help, at first, to associate it with a genre of music I wouldn’t normally listen to. The intricacies of this album’s production and the quality vocals, encouraged me to listen more. It had the feel of an album that was more interested in musical credibility than popularity but boasted some great, original pop songs. In the lead up to their second album, Palo Santo, I wondered what route they would take in trying to follow up such a solid debut. On first listen, I Immediately noticed that they’d taken an approach that focused more heavily on strong catchy choruses, but at the same time they didn’t jeopardize the pop synth sound that was such a trademark of their first album. It’s very easy to see that a lot of work - like the first - has gone into making an interesting pop album. The songs carry the same vibe as other pop songs before it but with lyrics and arrangement that are key factors in making both Communion and Palo Santo stand out. I could however see myself growing tired of this second album after a while. As much as I really didn’t want this to be true, it became a reality after too many listens. Of course, that’s not to say that there aren’t a number of good pop songs here. If I were to play these songs at a party they would fit perfectly. The synth sound of both of Years and Years’ albums remains one of the bands strengths. Olly Alexander’s difficultly surrounding his sexuality, often resulted in bullying throughout his teenage years and this is clearly a subject that plays a big factor in this album. He unashamedly rubs in the faces of the bullies the message that, ‘I’m gay and proud of it!!’ It’s a very upfront and honest album lyrically. and has a deepness to the lyrics that wouldn’t usually be associated with songs in this genre. Like James Arthur, it is pop music with heart. Neither Years and Years or James Arthur have really gotten as big as they’d have liked and I think that the sensitive topics are probably one of the main reasons. Years and Years latest album is a very accomplished follow up that focuses more on perhaps gaining the popularity to take them to the next level of notoriety. However, there’s very little compromise when it comes to the musical production that made this band stand out first time around. Overall, a solid follow up to a great debut. 7/10
Amazing album Amazing review I think it would be hard to pick out something negative about this album, always voice is so strong the music makes you have to get up and dance, no one could sit through Palo Santo without smiling or shaking their booty for sure 💙❤👑
Please please i'm begging you, do a reaction of "treasure island"- By Azealia Banks. And it would be great if you do a reaction of "The Altar" by Banks.
