My first job was at a 50s diner so I developed an appreciation for oldies. The new music is still my preference but I often find myself listening to Elvis Presley on my downtime
My dad really loved this song and when I was growing up we'd always be listening to this and other 50's music. Last year he passed away, and now when I hear this song, it's almost like we're listening to it together again just like when I was a kid.
Thank you, I appreciate it! If you'd like to help support my work, you can drop $1 in my digital tip jar over here: patreon.com/trudbol Any and all help is appreciated!
@stanibol Thank you, I'm flattered and glad you enjoy my video! It's interesting how singing a song that was made super popular by a given group means one has to face the comparison at some point, good or bad. I didn't try to reproduce the Dell Vikings render, I actually hadn't even hear their version when I got the sheet music, believe it or not. ;-)
You keep getting better every video. I sang this at camp and I cannot stop singing it and listening ti on here. You make that experience way much better. Thanks mate. You are AWESOME!!!
My "oo" is a bit closer to "oh" and is a little darker (stronger low frequencies) than the spoken American "oo". But I think I make it too heavy sometimes, particularly in "Carolina Moon", where it sounds like I'm trying too hard. But yeah, generally speaking, I like when barbershop has a darker and deeper tone, it's very different from modern more screamy barbershop we hear.
J'adore! Celle-là c'est ma préférée! J'aime l'effet donné par le fait que ce soit la même voix "l'histoire de la vie" dans Le Roi Lion serait une tuerie aussi
@MyXesar Thank you, I'm flattered and glad you like my work. Stay tuned for more upcoming acappella productions and in th meantime, share my videos with your friends, I'd appreciate it! Cheers
As a fellow natural bass I really appreciate how dark your vowels are and how they help your naturally resonate voice resonate even more. Your hard work really inspires me. Thank you for providing such a great example to other singers.
@smileOFflower Haha, thank you, I'm flattered. I plan on making many more. It's time-consuming, but a lot of fun and it's great to get such good feedback from people, regular visitors too. Thanks for your kind words and (if you don't mind) for sharing my video with Facebook friends. Cheers
This is just incredible. Unbelievable talent. I sang barbershop in high school (mid 60’s) and loved it, especially Coney Island baby. Keep this up, it’s wonderful.
Julien, I'd like to extend my thank for providing me and others with such an amount of magnificent a capella covers. Not only are they beautifully performed themselves, they've also allowed me to discover several songs I didn't know yet, and that's also a great treat; Thanks!
This is wonderful, as are all your productions. My twin sister is finally online, and this is the first video link she'll receive from me. I'm still carefully rationing your videos, as my heart will break if they run out. Thank you so very, very much. You really are a treasure.
@retsamys Thank you, it's good to hear. Working in HD is a whole different thing, you have to be extra careful with details, but it does make the experience more real and alive. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. Cheers
Mr. Neel, this is amazing! I did this with my middle school treble ensemble years ago, and this reminds me so much of when I was actively singing a cappella! Thank you for inspiring me to get back into singing with all of your wonderful music.
@AdMeliora1 Haha, thank you! Nice of you to share my videos with your friends, I really appreciate it, as well as your regular visits and nice words on my channel. I really enjoy making these videos, so seeing such an enthusiastic reaction about them is just great. Take care.
Mr. Julien, this has an incredible amount of soul. And that ending was really nice! I speak for my family and friends when I say this is a great tribute.
@Blumenkatze Thank you very much! I take about 6 hours in all to make a typical multitrack ; this one was a little shorter because the vocals were easier. To break it down, I take : 2 hours to learn the score by heart, 2 hours to record myself singing it, 1 hour for audio mixing and 1 to make the video. I've gotten a bit used to the process, I used to take a lot longer before that... Thanks for sharing my videos with your friends, I'd be grateful! Cheers
@intheskywithhoneypie Thank you! It's a great tune that just stick in your head, ain't it? Thanks for dropping by and commenting... and for sharing my video with family and friends too, if you can, I'd appreciate it! Cheers
@Zuman7 I'm pretty much self-taught myself, it just takes practice and patience, with attention to detail and feedback. You should give it a shot. Thanks for letting me know if you get sheet music.... and for showing me videos around, if you can! Cheers
@XelaVortex AH, thank you for the kind words, I'm flattered and am glad you enjoy my one man quartet productions! Feel free to share this video with friends of course! Cheers and stay tuned. ;-)
@sillysmilegirl Thank you! I'm French by culture, but lived in various countries (US, Greece, etc.), where I picked up a few extra languages. I've been in Paris for 15 years now.
@katiegary Thank you for the kind words, I couldn't hope for a better compliment. ;-) My song is available for download now by the way, the link is in the video description. Thanks!
@SPHChow Thank you! Gee, that's a tough question, it really depends on what your level is. If you're a total beginner, go to a choir, to learn to sight read harmonies and sing with other people. If you're more experienced and can spare the money and time, take vocal lessons with a lyrical teacher. I practice the score quite a bit to get the intonation and timing right, what you see and hear is only my best (four) takes. Thanks for commenting! Cheers
@grandplans Thanks. This song only ranges from G2 for the bass to around F4 for the tenor (from memory), so it's just 2 octaves, very reasonable for a baritone. Give it a shot, you'll see it's not that difficult. ;-)
It took me forever to see this video but you have a great voice and the fact you are more than able to pull off every different vocals in it is absolutely stunning! Keep it up
@Blumenkatze Thanks! I'm "self-taught", in the sense I never took vocal lessons per se. I sang in a few choirs and did a couple of musical shows a few years back, and I of course learned a lot by doing multitracks on UA-cam and interacting with other UA-camrs, people like Patrick (AKA PartyBurner) for instance, with whom I made another Disney song from Jungle Book last year. There are several tricks you use in multitracking that you as a viewer don't see... ;-) Thanks for watching and sharing!
@tammturn I didn't write this arrangement (see video description for more details). I'm glad you enjoyed my a cappella production! Stay tuned for more soon! Cheers
I've been listening to your stuff for quite a while but recently I've been listening to this one a lot. Funny how I can find myself listening to this one moment, only to be listening to heavy metal a few minutes later.
Thank God for the musician list from the Reindeer video.... You're great !!! ... love you're work ... (and here's a little secret - you're my favourite from that list) Thank you for your videos ... you bring a big smile on my face every time I listen your songs !!!
@coolestlosersCL Thanks! I'm not a bass, just a tenor that can hit a few low notes every now and then on a good day. Microphones do wonders... I would never sound like this on stage live if I could "quadruplicate" myself, except maybe for the tenor and lead voices. ;-)
OK, I have listened to your stuff so much that my nine-year-old son just walked by singing the "dum dum" part of the song... I think I've created a monster!
@TheAdmirableAdmiral Thank you! Yes, I used a metronome for this one. I was actually listening the bass track played as a MIDI file when I recorded this. It may not seem like it, but keeping a steady beat when singing by yourself is tricky. Thanks for your comment, feel free to have a look at my other a cappella videos! Cheers
From someone who was born in 1958 . . . nice to see someone your age who appreciates oldies, and does a damn good job on it.

J'adore! Celle-là c'est ma préférée! J'aime l'effet donné par le fait que ce soit la même voix
"l'histoire de la vie" dans Le Roi Lion serait une tuerie aussi
he definatly has so many different voices it really is like listening to 4 different people. very talentend

Thank you, I appreciate it! Hope you enjoy my more recent releases. :)
Love the old do wop era of music, was so nice to see a talented cover of them for once. Great job!
@smileOFflower Haha, thank you, I'm flattered. I plan on making many more. It's time-consuming, but a lot of fun and it's great to get such good feedback from people, regular visitors too. Thanks for your kind words and (if you don't mind) for sharing my video with Facebook friends. Cheers

I love it how as soon as I look for a song on youtube, I see your rendition of it...
AWESOME! i like your vocal chords, they are great! and the combination of a high and low ton of voice is absolutely amazing. keep going like that!
Julien, I'd like to extend my thank for providing me and others with such an amount of magnificent a capella covers. Not only are they beautifully performed themselves, they've also allowed me to discover several songs I didn't know yet, and that's also a great treat; Thanks!
Love this one. It takes me back to the good ole days.
Delighted you enjoy my music! :)
