- A quick description of the notorious $20 trick that people use when visiting Las Vegas.
I stayed at the Venetian hotel on the vegas strip and was upgraded to a suite. #trailer #2019trailers #movietrailer
"She started going insane on the keyboard" haha that cracked me up
Please do tip the Front Desk. We can pull some strings for you !"
Daniel M. BULLSHIT..........
Chick got fired after supervisor view this vid lol
@@johnnykurplutzo6789 $20 or $50 trick will work! Just don't go posting this to UA-cam!
Tried the "20$ Trick" my last 4 visits in Las Vegas ( MGM, Flamingo and twice Planet Hollywood ), and it worked everytime!
any new updates? have you used it since? this MGM is owning majority of the hotels now, does it still work?
Worked during "high" season ( march madness) from 2011 to 2016.... Till today always had a little upgrade....
letzebauer are they giving these upgrades free or are you having to pay the difference? If so, what's the point... why wouldn't you just book the upgraded room from the start?
letzebauer Does that mean that it's not working anymore??
This past weekend at the mandalay bay we tipped $100 and got upgraded to a suite with two queen beds and a king.. It was also 1700sq ft
DID YOU TIP AFTER YOU KNEW THAT YOU WERE GETTING THE UPGRADE?
@@quintenbriggs5384 I gave him another 100 and he refused, he said that's the best upgrade he could get. So we invited him up to the penthouse and gave him some fire weed.
OMG I had to pick my jaw up off the floor! What an amazing upgrade! I did the same trick at Bally's and it worked, but now I'm kicking myself for not booking at the Venetian! When I go back to Vegas in a few months, I will surely book there and try the trick!
With my luck it will be like seinfeld, i gave you a 20 (no you gave me a 10)
I did this for Penn & Teller tickets. It was sold out but they somehow were able to find us seats after the $20 trick.
"We drove all the way from L.A. for this show! We're friends with Teller - I used to romp with him."
Great video!! You’re right! We understand people in the tip industry and honestly it works mostly everywhere we go just getting a diff kind of treatment. And WOW look at your upgrade!! Nice!!
Should have thought of this when I was at the Venetian 2 years ago... now I know what to do when I return to Vegas in 4 months.
Went to the venetian for my 40th birthday in Dec 2014, my wife emailed them a month before saying it was for her husbands birthday and could they think of anything "special" for me! (Letting them know is for a special occasion)! Lol They emailed her back a champagne list and what's on (shows) at the hotel!
When I was checking in, we did get an upgrade & the receptionist said I had a letter "waiting" or me! When I opened it, it was a letter from management wishing me a happy birthday & a great stay! It was a great upgrade, strip view on 26 floor, what a fecking hotel!!! The only problem is that staying in such luxury has probably ruined any other stay in VEGAS (unless it's in the Venetian)!!!!
I got not only an upgrade to a double-queen, but also at a high floor (23rd) and a fabulous view of the Strip (which I asked her). I'll never forget that sentence when in Vegas: Do you have a complimentary upgrade available?
Did you tip her $20 or did you just ask her?
Thanks This worked like a charm at Caesars. Went from the Roman Tower to Augustus Tower. Twice the space, twice the value. Thanks again and thank you Caesars!!
When I saw $20 trick, I assumed it was this advanced technique of possibly turning a $20 bill into $200 through Vegas coupons, gambling, etc. What you are talking about is called tipping. I know a lot of young people aren't familiar with tipping. It's a lost art, and it will get you better service. I work the front desk of a hotel, and I would absolutely upgrade someone if they gave me $20, and made it clear that's what they wanted. The guy from the video seems cool, and he's simply relaying information. I just think it's funny that it's called a trick. It isn't a trick at all. It's called "greasing the palm. Ask your grandparents about it.
+Augustus Johnston Thanks for your comment. But in my experience this is a very Vegas type trick. The hotel market in Vegas is VERY competitive. If you try and tip the check in clerk in say.... New York... your money won't do anything for you. In Vegas, due to the number of available hotel rooms you have a lot better chance of actually being upgraded.
You make a very good point. I will say that front desk people have to deal with constant problems, and creating good will will go along way in any circumstance. Many front desk clerks wield a lot of power and can upgrade at the stroke of a key. Management rarely notices or cares; especially in a 3000 plus hotel. People are constantly coming and going. A lot falls through the cracks.
A lot of front desk people are stupid, and they can't make the connection that you are tipping because you want an upgrade. I think you have to do it with a seasoned veteran, or someone that looks smart. Some mousy little girl is just going to be confused and pocket the cash. If you make it clear that you are tipping because you want the upgrade they are more likely to do it. I work in a smaller hotel, but I gotta tell you... Sometimes I will upgrade someone simply because they are nice. Even tipping a few dollars can go along way in getting better service. I try to avoid doing anything for people that are too demanding.
+Augustus Johnston In other countries we call "greasing the palm" bribing, whether it's a "tip" for my local politician to pass a law that's favourable for me, or a "tip" the cop to look the other way.
does this work at the Monte Carlo?
tip who?
This video makes me want to fly to Vegas right now. This is dope. Definitely will try that trick next time I'm there.
Hi! Question:
I'm staying at the Venetian this September for my 21, and I'm definitely gonna slip them 30/40 when I stay there. But if/when I'm upgraded, do I still pay what I was gonna pay in the first place or do I pay extra because of the upgraded room?
I stayed in that piazza room last time I went there. Last week we stayed at the Prima suite. So amazing. Loved the space and the view of the strips. So when she upgraded for u, did she charge u extra?
$20 got me strip view when dude cut window out other side of cardboard box.
Oh.. My.. God.. This bucks really does it! That's a very fine upgrade room that you could get from a 20 bucks...
Awesome! This has worked for me at MGM and the Flamingo
That is so weird that a surreptitious $20 tip would get such a major upgrade. And you would think the hotels would clamp down on this to keep their fancy rooms available to book for a pretty penny. I always feel so clueless about the bribing/tipping world. BTW, I was going to say that the shakey-cam in this video would be a good candidate for UA-cam's Stabilize feature on the Enhancement tab, but I just learned they removed that last year. Lame!!! 😡
I did this at Paris Hotel and I got a room of the Eiffel Tower and the room had 3 bathrooms and very very luxurious.
That was great and unlike some other poster who gives the room crap I know thats a sweet ass room a buddy of mine stayed there once. Ill have to remember that trick when I go to vegas this summer.
Does it still work in 2017?
thanks for posting
wow! Awesome upgrade, I'm going to try this!
That is an awesome tip! thank you! Just one suggestion for you if you don't mind, you have to figure a way of handling your camera, way too shaky.
Stunning
Gotta try this 👍🏻
I tipped $20 in advance at a coffee shop because I had ordered decaf but was hoping for regular
Thanks for tip- I’ll try it!!
Does anyone know if this will work at the bellagio?
Awesome! 4-Star Room!!!!
Ima slip a $50 instead and probably get a penthouse lol
Now that's what I call an upgrade! I've heard of the $20 trick before but never tried it myself. Maybe I'll give it a try next time I'm in Vegas. Thanks for sharing.
We are doing new york new york for our upcoming honeymoon. Any tips for that hotel
Does that work when u doing COMP
Awesome
Does this still work??
That awesome. We did the same thing on our trip in March 2014 and had booked a basic room at the Luxor and ended up in this awesome suite. We were just so excited
Souzanna Thornton Really? We are going this july for my birthday might try that out
Yes Jonie, we were so excited. The lady whom served us at the Luxor was so nice. She at first didnt even want the money we gave her, it was only at the end when she was telling us what she got us that we insisted. It was so worth it. Good luck with it Jonie.
Thanks fro replying, we are traveling from Mexico. I'm really excited! so do we just ask if there is any upgrade available or do we have to specify what we want?
Your welcome. What we did was put the money inbetween the driver lic and credit card and just casually asked the lady if there was an upgrade available. Then I was telling her how it was our anniversay and my husbands first time in Las Vegas, so was just being myself and just honest and casual and just asked. Is it possible to get a free upgrade. find what words work for you . Is it your first time there?
we were not asking for anything specific we just wanted a nice upgrade
the 20 trick work on Fridays and Saturdays too??
Hahahahahhahaha! This is awesome mate. I'm booked at the Venetian and will definetly do this.
Let me know if it works lol
+Sven Lifestyle did they upgrade your room??? We going to Venetian on Sunday :D
+Simply Wifely I'm flying into Vegas tomorrow morning and checking in at the Venetian around noon. I'll let you know what happens
+osufann69 we been there on the 24th and the girl said she upgraded our room but when we went into the room just realized that is what we where booked. I checked our passport and the $20 was there. So she did not upgrade (just said) and did not keep the money.
+Simply Wifely it worked for us. She upgraded us to a suite on the 40th floor in the Palazzo. I was shocked it worked. Hope you had a good time in Vegas
Anyone works the front desk at the Venetian or Palazzo :)?
Awesome! I will try the 20$ trick on my NYE trip to Vegas!
Haha great.. let me know how it works out for you
***** I will, I hope I can get upgraded to a 1 bedroom tower suite at Mirage, Thanks again!
Chris Beck I had a friend try it at Mirage and it didn't work. I think you need more than a $20 for those bastards....
***** Bastards! lol, they are owned by MGM, maybe corporate audits the reasons for upgrades? Like were the regular rooms sold out? Is the guest a big player? etc. I'll try anyway and I'll let you know how it went
how did it go??
I'll be trying this in about a month in a half, hope it works!!!
Did it work
Wow!
I tip 100.00 everytime i stay at the Wynn, i get a free fridge and upgrade to the Tower
This didn't work on Mandalay Bay
What people need to remember, you give $20.00 as a tip, they usually give you an upgrade.
Why would $20.00 allow such a thing? Because a name brand strip hotel can have 30-40+ people check in at the desk, per host. So one host at check in can pocket $600-$800+ a day in tips.
Personally, I use a $50.00 bill because let's face it, for the price of a full tank of petrol, I can not only get a great room upgrade, but I get buffett comps. Prices of the best buffets run from $50.00 to $75.00 a person so my $50.00 tip, covers a major room upgrade and 3 free buffets comps costing on average about $150-$225 all for $50.00.
Try $50.00 or more, then watch the magic.
I may try using $50, do they just offer you the buffet comps? If now how would you ask for it?
I doubt if one checks in 40 people during their shift, each one is going to pay $20. I would think out of 40 people you might get two or three at most that will do it. I would say $40-$80 might be more reasonable, not $600-$800 in tips.
I tried the 20 trick at Hard Rock Las Vegas and got a Corner King Pool View room That was a good upgrade! It worked well
chrisbayridge1 I'm heading there in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to try this
bloody hell!
I'm about to go next week to the venetian, any more tips how you handed the tip or to who?
+Deathprf88 Did it work?
Did you try this & if so did it work?
I don't agree to be tipping people for free services cause is not fair for other people and I don't want Vegas to become another Tijuana. I worked for the Venicia and I am sure that person is not there anymore as the Venían is one of the best Casinos in Vegas and those elegant rooms are reserved for the VIP customers.
Are they going to charge you the price of the suites you're in or the price of the normal room you book?
thats such a good question im trying to figure out the same
They use your original rate. Here's what you do: Sandwich the currency between your drivers lens and credit card and hand it to the employee when he/she is checking you in. At the same time ask, "Are there any complimentary room upgrades available?" All of the receptionists in Vegas are familiar with this tactic, but it's generally frowned upon by management, hence all the secrecy. Just be cool, don't make a scene. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It depends on a lot of different factors, such as occupancy rate, time of year, day of the week, hotel policy, and if a manager is standing nearby. I've had many instances where the receptionist gave me my money back, and upgraded me anyway. Also, it's important to note that higher denominations usually yield better upgrades. While a $20 might bump you up to a better view, $50-$100 might get you something outstanding. The upgrade this UA-camr received for $20 was highly unusual. Good for him! 👍🏻
*drivers license* not lens. Damn autocorrect!
I agree. ( i hate to point out that we have no idea how much or what was actually done to get this room do we? we did not see an actual 5 minute recording of the event with a hidden shirt cam with the desk employees face blocked out did we?.. so as always ..if it seems way too good to be true it is... 20 will get you better but 100 plus will get you more. and if youre friend is working the desk (opps we forgot to mention that). then a palace is possible.
i tipped the receptionist a $20 and didnt get nothin!!
At Harrahs!
5 years and 364 days later.. dang
It doesn't work anymore. I went there (the Venetian) 2 weeks ago and the staff said they are not allowed to give free upgrade anymore.
I work at the Venetian and I upgrade people for free every day.
I wished I came to you when I checked in. I arrived on 10/09 and I gave the girl $20 and asked for an upgrade, but she just handed it back to me and told me they are not allowed to give free upgrade anymore...
metalguyn I'll be there next week and would tip $40 for a upgrade and I signed up for the rewards club.
You have to slip it to them indiscreetly and with a smile, and ask politely if an upgrade might be possible. It can't be too obvious and definitely not when their manager is watching over them.
Common Sense You are correct! I ended up with so many extras until it was unreal. The Venetian even mentioned my Platinum Ambassador status with IHG which step everything up even more.
I wouldn't count on this working very often or on a weekend, very slow week days maybe once in a while... it's not 1950, and people aren't going to risk there jobs for 20
i wonder if this really works
does anybody know how to avoid the resort fee
LEO UR yeah, but not anywhere nice like this. Stay at Treasure Island, fee is optional. Or stay downtown at Fremont or Four Queens, no resort fee.
it will probably work if its a week day monday-thursday And you're only staying 1-3 days?
here's my question when you do that the $20 tip do you have to pay for the upgrade later because they have your credit card I I booked at the Luxor online. and I was wondering if they did the upgrade if you have to pay for it or just for free. I'm going for my honeymoon.
I'd like to know this as well. I'm leaving for Vegas tomorrow and staying at the Venetian. If I remember, I'll be sure to update.
Did you try this & did it work?
+ernestlcolemanjr It worked for us when we went last month. We booked a standard room at the Venetian and got upgraded to a suite on the 40th floor at the Palazzo. I tried the same trick last week when I was in Chicago (Fairmont hotel), and it surprisingly worked too. You just gotta know how to smooth-talk them.
Amy Lahman No, you do not pay extra. Why bother trying to get a FREE upgrade? No one wants to pay for a bigger room but if paying a one time $20 tip will get you an upgrade, then it's worth it.
I tried it at Planet Hollywood and it worked. 2 night stay.
Live Tech Australia How did it go down? Did you say nothing and just slipped them a $20 or did you have to ask about a complementary upgrade?
I heard the trick is hold a lolly and say the poppy is the lobby give 20 they smack the shit out of you for being cheap and horrifying.
I know that
I'm upgrade because I pay more 100 or 200 per day ?
Just normal suit
...emmmm
I really don't want to spend alot of time in the room .
I think $20 is not a lot of money....Maybe we should try $100 tip next time....see if you can get better upgrade?
Kewl as a fool in a swimming pool
Does this work at the Monte Carlo?
Giovanni Sanchez : it will work at any hotel where they have a lot of vacancies, so for the Monte Carlo, definitely yes.
It's now PARK MGM
I heard they're pretty strict on tips now with all the cameras behind them watching their every move. We tried the $20 trick at Vdara and he almost appeared to be insulted with zero upgrades whatsoever. We stopped doing that trick and just asked for higher levels with a strip view and say that we're willing to wait however long and it's been working great.
I used the 20 $ trick in circus circis and I got a bad ass room he hook it up
dude thank you i am trying it in a few weeks there.
i originally booked at the circus but saw too many bad reviews so i rebooked my week long stay coming up at the mgm grand. besides way too many rug rats at the circus circus.
I tried tipping $100 @ The Palazzo and the front desk girl became very rude towards my wife and I. No upgrade gained?
Shenanigans. Dude forgot to mention that he gave her twenty $20s... One Jackson is the bare minimum tip for any front desk but out here you will most likely be considered cheap with your little 20. You could even get downgraded if you throw in an obnoxious overly suggestive nod.
Shut your mouth
Disagree. I go all of the time and 20.00 makes things happen. Tip the valet or bagman 20.00. They'll go to end of earth for you. I got a limo ride free to airport one time at palazzo for tipping he cab man a 20.
THAT would be a nice apartment to live IN!
Shitttt I got a 50 spot for someone at the end of September, It's my wife's first time to Vegas so heres to hoping!
Does 'tip trick' still work?
@@johnnyv5995 Yea it did man, That boy Brennan hooked it up proper like.
I would have given her another 20
$50
Freakin' place looks better than my house hahaha
Room looks really out dated for such a nice property Iike the V
??
This guy works there😭
is something like this possible with staying at circus circus
no
An upgrade at the circus circus is a Motel 6
At Circus Circus, you have to say the words, is the penthouse suite still available? If you say that, you’ll get the upgrade without having to pay anything.
Is this illegal.
Benjil Lime you’ve got to be joking by asking this question is it illegal? Please explain why you think it’s illegal to give someone a tip. I’m assuming you think it’s illegal to give a tip to your waiter, your barber, anyone you give a tip to?
Lets do this again, but instead of $20, be really rude! It would make a fun video.
AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE
If I tip em 40 bucks will they send a working girl up to my upgraded room?
.....also some good blow maybe already lined up on the dresser ready to go.
Nice 👍🏻
Tried it a few years ago at Paris and it didn’t work staying at the Venetian this weekend I’ll give it another try !
Did it work?
@@SlimePays732 no.
the lady gave you a piazza room, big whoop thats nothijg compared to the larger real deal suites that are triple the size of this one.
When I am in Vegas... I am gambling haha and when in the room... Stone dead drunk and won't give a f about upgrading haha
Circus circus
????
banhmiso1 But what exactly makes Circus Circus so shitty?
they just give you a bag of skunk weed. not worth it.
bullshit thanks for losing me $20 they gave me a coupon book instead real cool
Next time don't let Michael J Fox hold your camera.
knurri Damm!!!
knurri booooo poor taste sir
Yeah I'm going to jail go ahead and do this foolishness 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
you paid more, that is a free room for gambler
Ahhh ..... the entitled generation. A basic room at Venetian is already huge...with the sunken lounge area, nice washroom, etc. how much room do you really need in Vegas... when you are barely ever in the room, and the Venetian already supplies the biggest basic rooms going in Vegas.
Scott Blakemore what business is it of yours what people do with their time and money?
Yeah, I don't need a bigger room, I'd rather have to pay less for the regular one
Scott is clearly just a whiny baby who's all upset because he isn't there getting to enjoy it. Grow the fuck up, Scott.
Tuesday exactly, and for all the places for the OP to express his opinion... for Christ sake it’s Las Vegas, the land of opulence and indulgence.
Edit: I put $40 in between my ID and credit card. Got upgraded from my comp basic room to a high floor suite at Caesars Palace with 2 bathrooms, massive jacuzzi tub and full view of the Oasis Pools. Worth it? Hell yeah.
I actually spend more time in the room when I go to Vegas. I work seven days a week, even on holidays and have had collectively about 6 weekends off in the last decade. It's my escape and since I love baths, getting the jet tub is a huge part of that.
The trick worked 3xs for me. It's worth it to try.
NEXT time , save the $20 , and UPGRADE your camera !
Good stuff buddy. Thanks
You guys just make sure it's a complimentary upgrade. If they don't like you, they'll "upgrade" you but you're paying for it 😂 check your portfolio when you check out
lmao that would be so funny. you check out and now your paying off a credit card for the next 6 years.... lol
