These types of videos are my absolute favorite because they REALLY showcase how you are both very talented artists. I love how the glow paint makes the paintings look 3D! I wish there was a way to purchase your Alice painting, I LOVE IT!
I loved the edit when they were discussing Kaitlyn's background, really showed how so many ideas can cause a lot of confusion. And the juxtaposition with Evan at 24:55 was so funny. The end result was great for both paintings, but Kaitlyn's is really stunning and creepy in the best way.

Sand painting is often used to finish backgrounds in animal enclosures! It helps blend edges and fill gaps of background faux rock elements so it looks like one piece
Few painting tips: If you roll your paint brush as you drag it through your paint you will get a more pointed tip. And the brushes you are using look to be more water color brushes, if you get brushes with more snap (firmer) it easier to control for acrylic.
8:33 A phrase I enjoy that’s probably meant to be much more inspirational but works great with what Evan’s said here… “It will all be okay in the end. If it isn’t okay, then it’s not the end.”
Ooh, I've used UV-changing nail polishes to do ~disappearing~ nail art before! Indoors, it looked like nothing was there but when I was in the sun, my nails read, "If you can read this, take me inside" haha. The trouble is that windows block the kind of UV light that makes the pigments change and I didn't have a UV flashlight, so I had to sit on my porch to paint it or else I couldn't see what I was doing.
Have you guys considered using a wet pallet? It might help with the paint-drying-out-before-you-use-it issue. They are super easy to DIY if you don't want to buy one.
I've never watched Alice in Wonderland or read the book, but Katelyn's painting seems to fit in with the overall theme and aesthetic of Alice in Wonderland quite well! Interesting fact for you, there's actually a neurological disorder that's most commonly called "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome" because it causes people to hallucinate and during these hallucinations, items and objects can appear bigger than normal or smaller than normal. It's most common in children who almost always outgrow it by the time they reach adulthood, but it's believed that Lewis Carroll suffered from the disease himself which is what gave him the concept for the book.
Okay, so as much as I really do love Evans ocean scene, I really, really, really love Katelyn's "Alice" the most. That's a piece I'd buy to put on my wall fast. ❤
Wow, both paintings are amazing! I love how tranquil Evan's looks until you realize the sharks and the blood trail in the dark light, and I really love Katelyn's rendition of Alice! Keep up with the amazing job you guys!
Vallejo actually make texture paints for use with dioramas and miniatures. They have everything from sand, stone textures, thick mud (the mud has sawdust and sand for chunkiness), snow, water effects.
I really want that Alice in Wonderland one.. that would go so well with my collection of other paintings... please make copies of both of these for purchase!
Sometimes I honestly don't believe that glow paint works as well as you guys show it does but WOWWWWWWWW those end results!!! I LOVE the photochromic paint, it's so AWESOME! The way Katelyn mixed it in with the background and stuff, so amazing 🤩 And the bloody trail in Evan's painting omg 🙏 I feel like Katelyn's is a PERFECT Halloween decoration and Evan's is more normal house decor except BOOM actually a murder scene 🤭
I made paint like this too! I loved the hidden messages you could put into your paintings. I made one where it was a bride holding a bouquet but when it was under uv light, the flowers in the bouquet turned into handcuffs (some marriages be like that) I LOVE the way your painting turned out Katelyn!
I have done desert scenes like this where it goes from day to night. It's so fun. I am going to do this again. I just used neon acrylics and regular and it came out really great! I want to try these UV paints. Out bathrooms are lit by blacklights year round lol
I feel like Evan's painting is a great summer painting, while Katelyn's painting of Alice is more autumnal. In either case, they both need to be available as sweaters, t-shirts, and posters/prints in every department store across North America and online. 💯❤❤❤
We did sand painting when I was in grade school. I think it was part of native American studies. If my memory is correct (and it may not be) it was regular colored paints that had sand added just for texture.
OMG I love Creepy Alice! I have a wall hanging that's all melty style with "We're all mad here" text but I'm actually giving it away 'cause it's a bit too "trippy hippie" style for my aesthetic
evan's painting reminds me of the "sea of stars" phenomenon, where bioluminescent algae that glow when something touches them grow on beaches, so during the day, the beach looks normal, but at night the whole beach looks like a, well, sea of stars!. it's a really cool nature thing :)
Theres actually a ton of acrylic additives that have really interesting textures. Theres one called coarse pumice gel (there are other names for it, but thats the golden brand one) that is like sand and its really cool!!
A lot of the funky texture additives are popular in miniature and diorama painting! They’re usually marketed at tabletop rpg players, and a lot of it is environmental textures like mud, dirt, sand, snow, and concrete.
Was the paint mixer a hand massager as well?? Lewis Carol's story was actually rather satirical and had a creepy element. So Disney's Alice in Wonderland meets Halloween vibe is perfect! 👍 But Cheshire is my favorite character!! I would love a painting with him in it!! 🐈⬛ Evan, Katelyn is turning you into an artist!! Bravo!! 👏👏
The glow in the waves looks just like bioluminescent algae!!! Also I think another cool background idea would be the color shift red as roses, so they show up white in normal light and in the uv it "paints the roses red"
Imagine someone stays over and then in the middle of the night they just wakeup to see that alice art. I would nope my way right out of that house " sorry your house is too haunted for me at this moment"
Haha we had the idea to put the Alice art in a frame which has UV leds that automatically turn on at night :P Imagine seeing normal art during the day and being surprised by the night version
@@EvanAndKatelyn2 Add a motion detector to the setup! Imagine the scene: You're getting close to the picture, and for two seconds or so, the UV comes on... ooh the first time i caught you guys streaming on twitch while i was scrolling i saw you painting this stuff! idk why its making it more exciting to see the vid come out haha
My grandma gave up painting recently so she gave all her paint equipment to me, and all her colors are just bags of pigment along with various vials and bottles of mixers. If not for all the brushes and sponges and stuff it would look more like a chemistry set, doesn't help the aesthetic that she kept it all in a toolbox. I'm really happy she gave it to me though, best brushes I've ever had, didn't even know a brush could make that big of a difference.
If you want to make sand paint you could also make a mixture of sand, paint, and *glue!* I experimented with this for a project at my art school and you can actually get some really fun textures :) I ended up painting like the Latinos the first humans made on the inside of caves. It was really cool :))
19:40 you can actually! Theres a beach that have luminous algae so at night the sea glows. I dont remember the name but yall could go for a lil date or something. Yall deserve a good time cuz you guys are like the cutest couple ever❤

Sand paint is a real thing and it's really cool! Usually you get thick paint and mix it and end up with cool textured paintings. The best part of it? Blind people can enjoy it too! If you add multiple different textures to paints, people can feel what you've painted. It kind of reminds me of that shaving foam mixed with paint trick that went around a few years ago.
Katelyn - your illustrating skills are AMAZE-BALLS!! I mean I know you're web designer [? I THINK!!], but I don't actually know if you've ever shown them like this prior to this video. 8:10 Pro tip for the sand. Mix it with glue instead of paint medium. Just paint it on, then sprinkle sand on top like glitter. Let it dry then paint another layer of the sand glue mix to seal. You don’t have to do a bunch of layers to get it filled in. The reason you don’t just put down glue add and then seal is to help avoid gaps and it gives more texture. Sealing with the sand mix won’t flatten the texture the way just sealing with glue alone will. 15:17 We need to figure out how to seal the galaxy water in resin BenWorx sealed water in resin so it can be done. (Please wear the science coated when you do it) To display them you should set up some motion sensor UV lights. So when you walk by them they change. They would be awesome in the dark! I love how the “blood” looks like the wake of the boat. It looks like they are trying to row away. Alice looks like something so sweet that would be in a child’s room. Not the sinister nightmare to come.
I remember watching the full version of this video. The back and forth on what to do in the background of Katelyn's painting was real, lol. 😂. Turned out delightfully creepy at the end. Evan's was more subtle and slightly menacing in a way. Like, was the boat leaking blood due to someone getting bitten and getting away from a shark or was someone murdered and the murder wanted to use the sharks to get rid of the body? 🤔 👀💦
Holy hell what a timing! I started to paint 2 days ago a phoenix bird. I'm soon at a point I can put finishing touches, and I started looking for glow in the dark paint to make the flames pop!
I've always liked mixing glossy medium/varnish with mica powder to make custom metallic pigments. Works pretty well! Also, if you want thicker acrylic paint, add corn starch or talcum powder. Works great, and my oldest project using this technique is going strong 6 years later, so it holds up well too
Mini wargaming has all kinds of terrain paints: sand, mud, and more! They're expensive though. Maybe a Buy or DIY between them and your homemade sand paint would be fun.
Wet pallet for acrylics and Vallejo and Ak interactive make some good texture paints that would work better than the sand paint if you ever decide to redo it! Great job on the paintings though. It was lots of fun
Alice in Wonderland is my favorite movie. The painting turned out absolutely amazing. A shirt with the front of her being normal and the back as creepy Alice would be the coolest thing ever
The North sea in Germany is glowing now and than. I was able to watsh it a couple of times (well ad least twice) and it is spectacular. Both of your paintings are awsome. Like you euphoria when things went well, know that feeling for sure.
Both paintings turned out amazing! My favourite parts are Evan's glowy waves, and just how well hidden the creepiness is in Katelyn's without the UV light :D
I live in a little beach town in New Zealand and we currently have bioluminescence in the water. Evans picture is what it looks like ❤ we also have a harbour where you can't see it but when you touch the water bam freaking magic. When you kick the water its like you have open glowsticks attached to your feet spraying uv blue water out. Like a mix between the Frozen movie and Avitar. Just magical
Also now at the end.... holy moley they both look amazing ❤ I wonder if you could paint on photos? Maybe printed then laminated? Add a skull or something for Halloween.... oh and a cat skull
The creey, twisted, spooky colour changing Alice in Wonderland horro painting is so cool! Might be one of my favourites paintings ever from this channel

Great job on the paintings though. It was lots of fun
Katelyn's indecisive montage is my favorite part of this week
Alice in Wonderland is my favorite movie. The painting turned out absolutely amazing. A shirt with the front of her being normal and the back as creepy Alice would be the coolest thing ever
I watched the full stream on E&K uncut, I really love chilling while you guys make things and figure things out !
There is sand paint. It's called texture paste, and it's used for miniatures and diaramas.
The North sea in Germany is glowing now and than. I was able to watsh it a couple of times (well ad least twice) and it is spectacular. Both of your paintings are awsome. Like you euphoria when things went well, know that feeling for sure.
The Alice painting is AMAZING!
Both of those came out amazingly!
Suggestion I would have given Evan: use the invisible paint to draw Kraken tentacles.
Katelyns turned out AWESOME!!! Evans is great too.
Katelyn's would honestly actually sell for something, that's super cool!!
OMG guys!!!!! this may be my fav video yet!!! I would absolutely buy any and all of those paints! even the sand one!!!
Omg I LOVE you paintings!! I really want a print of Katelyns! Idk how the glow would work on a print tho
I thought sand paint was a thing already. It's an add-in for acrylics, similar to heavy body.
Yeah but i think it’s hard to get sand paint and quite uncommon
For the Alice painting I am getting Frank Bow vibes. Much like the game it as a lot of unseen.
I just gotta say, Katelyn, I LOVE your editing.
If Evan and katelyn decide to sell those prices I will sell anything for them those are the coolest things I have EVER seen!!!
