Thank You Dianne for this video. My family is also originally from LaRochelle. I'm definitely interested in a visit for our 25th marriage anniversary in 2024 if possible.and God's will.
My family is originally from LaRochelle. I'm fascinated with it . It would be such a dream to be able to visit there. I don't think it would be possible so this is so special. Thank you for doing this.
I'm watching your video. My name is Philip cormier. I was just thinking about Robert cormier who came out of la Rochelle when he was a young man in the early 1600s. He was my greatest grandfather of all of course. I live in Kentucky in the United States.
Thank you for creating these live tour videos! I'm on one week of mid semester university break and this was like a mini holiday without leaving my house :) much appreciated!
Bonjour!! Hi Diane! I'm new to your channel and I love it!!! The food looks so yummy! The views are amazing 😍😍😍. I loved the half timbered building!!! Thank you for sharing!!! Looking forward to seeing more videos! Merci! From CT ❤️ ❤️
Ah, we know La Rochelle well. We live just east of Niort but spend so much time there.Yes the real estate is beyond our pay grade too but we bought & keep a 4 berth boat in the marina (Les Mnimes) an easy walk or water taxi ride to the Vieux Port, so we stay several days at a time.
I am a Gareau (my french surname) and my Gareau ancestors lived in or around this area in the late 1500's to early 1600's and emigrated to canada in the early 1600's. I would love to know if there are people named gareau that live in this region that I would be related too today
Hi Diane! I'm soooo excited this one finally popped up in my feed since I'm considering moving here (sorry, I know I already mentioned it lol). I wanted to ask you, I know the weather is supposedly really nice there, but how humid is it, being right on the sea? Also, you mentioned in this video that this was the first nice day in months. But, that's from the perspective of where you live near Angers, right? Not necessarily in La Rochelle? Thanks! :)
Hi there, Rachel. Glad you found my walk! La Rochelle is a wonderful coastal town and while it doesn't feel humid like Miami or anything, I just googled the current weather and it's 92% humidity at 7:30am. So yah, it gets really humid in the summer but doesn't feel wet-hot in my opinion, despite the humidity. I just looked it up and avg humidity is over 75% the entire year. Average summer temps are just below 80F on average although it can get hot. This week's forecast is way over that. I don't think it rains there more than anywhere else and isn't known to be a particularly rainy town or anything. Before doing the walk, it had a been raining a lot where I live and La Rochelle isn't super far but rain all the time isn't typical. Just some bad luck. Hope that helps and thanks again for watching!
@@OuiInFrance Thank you so much for the detailed reply! I'm trying to get a sense of if the sea breezes and the fact that it's not super hot make it so the humidity is less oppressive, and it sounds like that could be the case. Ugh, right now in Connecticut it's humid and in the high 90s and so no one really even wants to go outside. I want to be somewhere where going out in the summer is pleasant! 😄 It's good to hear La Rochelle doesn't feel like southern Florida lol. I know you lived in NYC for a long time - how would you compare the two climates (I know it gets way colder in the winter here in the Northeast of the U.S.)?
An excellent piece on a lovely city! I hope you don't mind me saying this but in your commentary, you say 'pan up'. You pan from side to side but 'tilt' up or down. Apologies, just me being a bit pedantic!
Thanks for the video. LaRochelle is where my ancestor comes from. Merci!
Thanks for watching!

I should add, I know the best thing to do is just to go there and experience it myself, but unfortunately I can't right now of course. 😓
Bjr,avez vous déménager à La Rochelle 🤔🤔

Great video-if you turn the sound off and have some other sound going. such as music or pleasant sounds of nature.
I try to add value to my live walks by explaining what's going on, talking about French culture, and sometimes history. ;-)
@@OuiInFrance nah its cool. I enjoyed this video.
