Thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Peach Prosecco sounds really nice, I would definitely sample that. It looked gorgeous. Thankyou for doing this vlog. Loved it 👌👌🙌👏🏻👏🏻
I used to take Chinese and Japanese tourists on coach there for lunch. Absolutely fantastic place. We had to be careful when leaving the car park, for fear of bottoming the coach on exit. 😊.
What a Lovely looking Pub Mate.Nice to get out now and again. Not sure about the Beer Bat though. The Good Lady will give you a Paddling with it if you drink too much 😮😂
Looks the type of place that does well with Couples and Valentines Day etc.Very nice Layout and Presentation.I used to drink in a pub called The Boars Head years ago. Then it was closed down and turned into a restaurant called The Fat Boar.I've never eaten but I have heard it's good 👍
Hi gaz. That was a lovely video . Something different for us to enjoy. Shame about the little upsets, but that is what happens these days. Good to see your good lady with you . I think shes a red head just like my wife?. . All the best . Steve👍
I’ve gotta get me some of that! Looks like something I’d really enjoy, me and my good man might travel all the way from the Outer Hebrides for that afternoon tea! I’m glad you guys had a nice time 😊
Thanks Gareth for your wonderful video's buddy, I haven't been to the boar for a few years now! But after your review I don't think that I will!!! 👍 Thanks for letting us know 👍👍👍
I love out-of-the-way pubs like this. I went to a steakhouse in Basingstoke a few years ago and loved the Spanish atmosphere and the food. Never let your local quirks conglomerate into the same beige city takeaway we all know and are bored with ;)
Great video Gaz nice to see you misses enjoying yourselves it was a bit pricey but it’s the lakes you expect that plus it made a change for you keep up with the great videos 👏👏👍👍
Hi Gareth i was so interested to see your experience as i have bought this alternative afternoon tea there as a gift for family members before who love it but never been myself. Lovely to see you guys enjoying so thanks for sharing but like you i would have expected better quality for the price
@@Madmart54 Certainly you're right here - definitely a big effort by this pub and I wish them well. But I'd probably agree with Bald Foodie Guy in that I'd rather have a more traditional meal + pud. That's just me. Maybe their novel idea will catch on though.
Hi Gareth and wife lovely vid what a pretty pub ,my husband is just like you he would have come out with wish I'd have had roast dinner shame you were disappointed but at least you tried. Nice to have some time with wife. Hugs from Shropshire 😊
And this is why places are seeing footfall decrease. It's all down to the cost, people want good honest food for a good honest price! Nice video BTW, looks like late summer last year looking at the green trees.
This was fun! Such a pleasure seeing the different dishes, the lovely setting, and you two enjoying them. It's a shame they used frozen chips and were a bit stingy with portions, especially given the hefty price. Perhaps you might consider going to all sorts of eateries - not just high-end ones like this, but a favorite chip shop or takeaway place. Many thanks for yet another highly enjoyable video!
Hi from New Zealand thank you for taking us along to experience a new afternoon tea for me the highlight was to see the fire place I remember as a child we had one exactly the same where water was heated in the boiler at the side of the fire..when I saw the chips I said to myself”they don’t look cooked”and that was one of the things. of which you were not happy!£30 seems expensive too…
Looked really nice Gareth 👍👍😁 I thought £30 was good for such a selection. In London many top notch places eg the Ritz etc give boring sandwiches and charge £70+ each and service charges. If I ever were to visit The Wild Boar I would definitely pay them a visit The Roast sounds gorgeous too Thank you for showing us, I do enjoy your trips out 👍👍😁
Country pubs like that are great, open fire, good beer. Agree with you there, for £30 a head you would expect a bit better. But from what I saw it looked good. Glad you and your better half enjoyed it pal.
Great place--do good steaks, stayed a few times, but generally stay up the road at Gilpin Lodge--that's fantastic, should do a review there sometime Gareth.
that fire takes me back Gaz to my nanas in Sunderland she cooked a sunday roast and all the trimmings in those ovens yorkshires n all and the veg in pans over the fire when wee were on holiday at her house she could be cooking for up to 12 no problem how the last generation could cope mate
That tea looked nice. I think for 30 quid, you should have got more fish and chips to share. Having said that it all looked pretty good. Always a treat to watch the videos Gaz.
Cheers for taking us along Gaz. Pricey but nice to have time with the good lady without the kids. That's what it is all about at the end of the day bud, some time to yourselves sometimes. All the best to you all.
Thanks for the honest review Gaz, to the places credit, that was a nice twist on afternoon tea idea, just a pity certain elements weren't up to scratch like you say.
@BaldFoodieGuy I really enjoy what you do with your channel and feel this is the last time you have time to chat in the comments so crack on and enjoy Gaz
Went up to Keswick a couple of weekends ago with the good lady and left the kids at home. Had a great time and apart from the squeaky bed, it was a quiet weekend! 😊😂
Back in the '90s camping at Low Wray just outside Ambleside, riding our bikes up the fecking hill to get to Hawkshead and drink a few pints and get some grub, then just coast on the bikes all the way down back to Low Wray camp site. Great times. Looks like it's all "Glamping" now and costs a fortune. ETA: confused Kes with Hawks. It's a northern eagle thing. 😆
I do like the fire range in that pub🤩🔥👍 have you ever thought about a chippy quest around the UK who's got the best chippy? Oh before I forget please do a Hunters chicken review please?😋 Off now to fix my Comedy steering on my landy Defender.👍🏴
2pm is a funny time! Between Dinner and tea! As a southerner there is often a lot of confusion as to what Teatime is? Tea is between 5 and 6 and is the main hot meal of the day. Breakfast before 9am, Dinner starting at 12 or 1 and Tea 5 or 6. There used to be something called supper but i think that was phased out in the 1970's
You were saying they were diddy portions but considering the overall selections that would be a pretty substantial meal and something I doubt I would be able to finish ! but it did look like a top notch bit of nosh !
Loving the variety of content G. Most supermarkets sell a very cheap Beef and Veg Pasty. I have 2 of them for dinner and it really helps my shopping budget, could you take a look at some please?
Interesting . I would not go there but I live hundreds of miles away. I am sure tourists will cough up. Stick to what you know! Yes, Nice to see the area that I have not been to for many years.
🥰I’ve been here, it’s a gorgeous pub and area - I am pleased for you and your wife. Enjoy your day together Gaz and don’t forget to take the girls a sweetie/treat of some sort 😉 xx
It does look like a proper English country pub. I love those sorta places. As long as they don't invite Gordon Ramsey and they invest in a chip fryer they'll probably be ok by the sound of it... Is the extra stubble in keeping with the wild boar theme? 😁
Very good. Thank you. The chips, with the fish, looked a wee bit cool. Were they? I don’t understand how they can present all the courses, at the table, without keeping them warm. Maybe I missed a bit.
I hope you both had a lovely time. I do agree on the price element... Seemed a little on the extortionate side for what you got. I'd have gone for the roast 😂
World of difference without the kids, and don't I know. Me and the Mrs went away last weekend. Start to remember what it was like before 😆 Hope you and the Mrs had a nice time, considering filming
I want a cheese scone. A large cheese scone. A large cheese scone with crumbly cheesey bits on top & plenty of butter in it & want it warm! Warm & freshly baked! However I do not live near a shop so I will have to wait till next Tuesday.
When we were in the Lake District, many moons ago, we stayed at the Gilpen Lodge, near Lake Windermere. Excellent. I have to say, this is not a place worth passing a few pubs for! Just my thoughts.
Hi all, this was a few months ago. Hope you have a good weekend. Something different, hope you like it. 👍

Certainly a lot better than the usual sandwiches and little cakes which is the usual afternoon tea offering.
