  • This low-profile, versatile front entry life vest is built for all inshore activities. It can efficiently carry a VHF radio and necessary rescue gear. Large cargo pockets, multi-use attachment loops, and a lash tab keep your gear handy and secure. The Z-Strap cinch system stops the jacket from riding up, and the 3D mesh liner allows for cooling airflow. Reflective trim is featured on the front, and fleece-lined pockets keep your hands toasty in cold weather. The Slipstream PFD is approved for Harmonized Level 70 in the USA and Canada. It meets the minimum life vest buoyancy of 15.7 lbs.

will this vest keep your head above water?

Several factors, including body weight, water conditions, and personal circumstances, can impact the amount of freeboard (the distance between the waterline and the top edge of the PFD when it is being worn by a person in the water) a PFD supplies. It's worth noting that freeboard alone does not determine the overall effectiveness of a PFD. Other factors such as buoyancy rating, fit, and proper use also play crucial roles in ensuring the safety of individuals in the water. Therefore, it is important to choose a PFD that meets the appropriate standards and fits properly for the intended water activities. The slipstream is a Harmonized Level 70 PFD, which is generally suitable for inshore environments where rescue is expected to be prompt.

Can it be worn under the jacket?

While it is technically possible to wear foam personal flotation devices (PFDs) underneath jackets, it is not recommended. Foam PFDs are designed to be worn on the outside of clothing or as standalone devices. Wearing them underneath jackets can compromise their functionality and may impede their ability to properly float an individual in case of an emergency. Additionally, wearing a foam PFD under a jacket can restrict movement and may affect comfort and mobility.

@@MustangSurvival I figured so, which is unfortunate because every commercial fisherman I know (bristol bay salmon fisherman) just doesn't wear a PFD because its in the way and gets snagged on the nets. Thanks for your reply.
