- Flying the P-51 D on the combat box server. After already beeing shadowed right after take off spots by the ground forces around the ophoven airfield I decided just to stay around the airfield. Waiting for them more or less...

Tschermäns :D
Thanks for leaving your being shot in the video as well, as besides watching succesful attacks, it is also very interesting to see what can go wrong, even if you're a seasoned pilot.
Also, my compliments for your parking, you must be quite popular with the ground crew :)
I just was too target fixated and attacked enemies on my energy level. Which is a risky thing to do in general, but especially in the 51.
@@SheriffsSimShack That's indeed my analysis as well. Target fixation is a real risk that can happen so easily, almost per definition without you realising it. BTW, in that regard, count yourself lucky that you can just look back so completely with so little effort. The added RL effort of checking your 6 in VR makes it much less likely to be able to do it so effortlessly and therefore frequently, with all the added risks -and ensuing consequences- that come with it :)
Great stuff, nice to see some defensive action to keep the airfield safe. :)
13:27- Shooting me in the arse wasn't very sporting Sheriff !
Actually I'm glad you showed this because normally I'm good with SA, but I was thinking "Where the hell did that come from ?" I just caught sight of you below me but I was more concerned about those 2 co-alt contacts that turned out to be friendlies - Doh !!!
Well done !
The Damage textures came too late. Would look much better if they would be there at the time the bullets hit.
Vulch! Haven't heard that word used in YEARS, takes me back to the good old days of Air Warrior, WarBirds, and Aces High
I played AW2 in the late nineties. Fun, but poor graphics.
Damn man you make that look easy ! Great video.
Nice sortie. Kept thinking you'd not seen enemies until it occurred to me to clean my screen!
😂😂
That engine sounds like a turbocharged lawnmower
I agree, there is significant room for improvement here
@@mansuraidol4406 Yah, I noticed the external aircraft sounds are far superior in DCS. IL2 is further ahead in pretty much everything else, but the external sounds are comical.
I don't find it that bad. Can Always be better ofc. But there are worse examples
I think it’s actually pretty good. The bass in the engine noise comes thru pretty good on my sound system. I think some of it depends on your system. Doesn’t sound much different from this
ua-cam.com/video/zQyDaMtjhfc/v-deo.html
Inside sounds great, outside is all prop noise and no exhaust. The sounds are there but the level and reverb of the exhaust sounds need to be waaay higher and there's too much attenuation effect of it over distance.
Great vid as always. Shanks Sherrif. I'm thinking of getting into flight sims because of your vids. Could you recommend a good, midrange cost joystick and pedals?
T16000M is a good entry point. Dunno about pedals. I would say you
dont need pedals at the beginning.
10:30- My debut on your YT channel. I hope to see you on mine next time ;-)
Love when ppl run full rich and leave a spotter trail 😉. Great vid
That fuels not gonna waste itself
Fw 190s have no choice when they want to climb or fly faster. The Kommandogerät turns ther mixture rich and they have no say.
@@SheriffsSimShack how unfortunate!
I watched the whole video, great stuff and nice to see those after easy kills being taught a lesson. You're more noble than me, I would shoot the 'chutes of vulchers (the only time I would do it btw). Having said all this I don't object to high level bombing of bases, but guns are a no-no. Good stuff.
Hi. Is there the possibility to share your whole settings package? I'm talking about ingame graphics, camera, reshade (if used) and Nvidia. I already saw some parts of it in your "channel info" but the "Gesamtpaket" would be nice. You play the game very competitive, so your settings can not be that bad =). Do you use any curves on your stick/rudder? Keep up the nice work.
No Reshade Filters (any more)
No JS Curves
Rest is here

I dont optimize my game for visibilty that much if I dont have too. At the moment the visibilty is not that bad anyhow so I can focus on good visuals.
@@SheriffsSimShack thanks for the quick reply :)
Sherrif. Since i did not get to play Il-2 for half a year. How is the balance looking at the moment?
Team balance wise? Good mostly.
Was that howling sound the gun ports "whistling" ?
Yes. It does that at high AoA.
@@stickman5444 which makes it a very effective indicator of impending stall and potential loss of control that can accompany it. Seasoned P51 pilots listen closely to this sound which is well modeled in IL2.
7:06 another clue about 109 "Blacking out visual effect" nerfed & how nerfed is the HUD G gauge. This could be a good idea for a next video: testing G's
I havent even understood the question
@@SheriffsSimShack It was more an observation than a question. He pushed hard negative G's in the dive away and then pulled hard again to stay bellow you. So the gap from -1, -1.5 G- to 4-5 G+ could be performed better & faster by pilots without G- Suit than pilots with G-suit. Not a complain about A/C's performances, just afirming G-loc visual effect has been modified (nerfed) thru 3-4 releases before this last one. Also the G counter in the virtual HUD is not accurate at all, you can almost blackout at 2G's in a P-51 as easy as 109's can go suddently vertical after a long fast dive with minimal G suffering( 7:06 is a great example of that). The suggesting of that subject for a next video was 95% a joke, I'd been sarcastic ;)). My apologies if you take my words 100% seriously. Regards
do you respawn faster if you manage to bail out?
no. But stats are tracked in the background. If killed it all goes back to zero. Leaderboards etc factor deaths in.
What is that gauge next to the compass in the lower left?
G-Force
the new G meter
The "fucks not given" meter. If the pilot ends up not giving more than four or five fucks, he will nope out and take a quick nap! So be careful.
I've been away from the game for like 2 months, but it seems they made 50 cals great again. Did they?
Right now in this moment people are probably bitching about them
@@SheriffsSimShack well 2 months ago everyone (including myself) was bitching about 50 cals being peashooters. I can remember quite a few occasions in which I pumped dozens and dozens of rounds into 190s and 109s and they made it back
this is still the case for many. it seems accuracy and volume of fire solves it for me.
Many have an accuracy around 5% for the P51. in the second sortie of this video, where I have "valid" data, I had 14.7%.
Ha! It was like watching Batman!
Sherrif isnt invincible? 😭
Never fails to amaze me how many of these dudes are too lazy or distracted to check their six every few seconds.
it is harder than it looks. Since even when you check six, you have to actually see that guy. Sometimes behind obstructions against a cluttered background etc.
Sometimes you have something infront you and you have to pay attention to that for a a couple of seconds. Its hard.
Your .50 cala worked... clearly hax! :P
They are very effective when you hit the pilot's head, works everytime!
@@zandiner yep!
@@zandiner they work from below, too. @ 13:27 someone got a .50 cal enema
For me it looks like they made 50 cals great again. I've been away from the gamd for almost 2 months and I was hating the bloody things
12:52 lol
Hi Sheriff would you be so kind to share the skin. I love the red gun ports
I play warthunder sim, and compared to warthunder how much “wobble” is their in il2 because I have heard warthunder is over wobbly.
The controls in War Thunder are just one large catastrophe versus IL2
Sheriff's Sim Shack thx, would you say il 2 is easier or harder to aim in?
@@MB-fe6ly It very much depends on the plane You gonna use for comparison beacuse warthunder has huge variety of approaches to detail level across whole plane set it has, some are arcade like basic and others are more detailed in some areas or just overall, some are just pure fantasy that often is the outcome of fiddling with plane's flight model to "nerf it" for mouse modes which makes some planes wobbly beacuse they were optimised and tested in mouse mode where ai pilot is stabilizing the plane for You.
@@eldarguardian6485 thats what I was about to say. But the late Spitfires need special configs to be flown stable in the broadest sense.
its just so inconsistent.
Nice! I hate vulchers! Specially those who vulches from 4-5K to aircraft that are on final or just got their wheels up. Yesterday I was vulched over the objective ( different server) and that was very annoying. On the other day my gunner was vulched while I was approaching enemy bridge at 7K. It's just vulching everywhere, I wish I didn't take off at all just to be vulched... :(
You cant get vulched over an objective. Vulchers are spawncampers
Yeah dunno if that is trolling. But "vulching" means the lingering around airfields and subsequently shooting players which take off.
using vr? stupid q i guess
nope. Head tracking
