- First actual cover in quite a bit. "Slings and Arrows" by Sylosis. I have a new setup for PC, amplifier etc, so that is part of why I haven't done anything in a while!
Great fast playing song, which translates well to the styles I like to play the most, and is a good blend of Edge of the Earth and Monolith.
I learned the song a while ago, and never bothered to learn the solo, so didn't want to spend time learning that, as I don't think it would add much to the video anyway, as it's mostly just some fast speed-picking patterns.
Feel free to comment, rate and whatever! Constructive criticism is very welcome!

Hey man! Don't know if you've been paying attention, but Josh's doom album will be coming out next Tuesday!!
Muy buen cover parece
Yep,this is great
Wow! what a cover! sounds perfect dude! You are amazing, and let me say to you that you have a great clean vocals, is so quiet and make me feel asleep (in a good sense), love your voice.
Greetings!
Thanks a ton man, glad you watched and enjoyed it! And that means a lot to hear, thank you! I am still quite a way from performing vocals comfortably, but it's also something I really want to dive deeper in!
Wtf had no idea this song existed, thanks lol
Oh really? Well glad I let it into your world! Really great track, released back in 2012 and it was only buyable through sites where all of the money went straight to Sylosis themselves.
Super sick man love this one . The ashy
New Revocation stuff
Sometime maybe :)
damn man cover Communion, that song is freaking crazy
Great playing as always! I really enjoy your Sylosis covers
Thank you! I really enjoy doing those too!
hell yeah ! Heartfelt, you are already through most of Sylosis discography, :P How do you like the newest Revocation album ? Any chance for a cover thereof ? Or the newest Vektor Release is also pretty sweet (Don't know if you are into their music though)
A lot of it at least, but still a bit to go! Also a few I want to redo. The new Revocation album, is probably my album of the year so far, so that says a bit! ;)
I need to get more comfortable at playing 7-string, before tackling any of those beast songs. But it's something I would like to try.
Honestly I haven't listened to the new Vektor, at least not all the way through. I kinda lost interest in it, but I really do need to listen to all of it, as it has gotten so good reviews. The vocals I wasn't too big of a fan of.
Damn! Great cover and thank you very much for introducing me to Sylosis, amazing stuff, I really don't know why I never checked them out...
and even in standard tuning :)
Thank you very much!
Well glad I opened your eyes to them! They are the band that has inspired me musically the most! :D
i just wish i could find the lyrics for this song. I had them at one point.
Yeah same. I think I saw them on their official facebook a while back, but can't find them now.
that was jaw dropping! good job dude!
Cheers man! Thanks for watching! :)
Hey man it's good to have you back! Plus with some Sylosis, what's better than that? :) I don't know if you didn't anything different with your tone but I think it sounds really well. 2:59 how tricky was that part? haha
Well, seeing you play makes me jealous but in good way, I hope to have 1/3 of your skills someday!
I also notice that your right hand position is a bit different than how it was in the past, am I right?
Good to be back at doing this too! Been missing it :p Better than this? Answer.. Nothing!!
It's hard to say what exactly I did. Now I have my amp in a different room, than the one I am sitting in, that way my speakers don't feed into the mic in front of the amp. I've also played more around with the mic position, and found a setting that I quite like, where I don't really need to tweak the eq a lot, other than of course adding a high and low pas filter.
Yup, definitely the hardest part of the song, and even struggled a bit here :P You're flattering me.. Still tons of stuff I want to improve on!
Is it in a different position? I honestly don't know. Might need to check some older videos.
Oh and an important part. The volume of my amp is very loud, so I need to boost the signal from the SM57 as little as possible, making it clearer and beefier.
Yeah it caught my attention when you said your amp was in another room... How loud is that? haha
Yeah, it is set up in an old walk-in closet, so I can hear how the amp sounds through my speakers, without it being deafened out by the amp itself. Makes it easier to find a decent mic position.
Quite loud. I can stand in there without ear-plugs, but only just :P
Take care of your ears man :)
awesome!!
Cheers! lml
