- Blacksmithing conferences are a great place to meet up with other smiths from around your area and even around the world. Attending these types of events, as well as smaller demos and workshops, may do more to improve your blacksmithing than buying a new anvil. There is always something new to learn and be inspired by. So join me at the 2023 Rocky Mountain Blacksmithing Conference.
Full videos of the demonstrations should be available on the Rocky Mountain Smiths UA-cam channel in the near future.

Thank you for taking us along. I loved seeing this gathering. I am going to a primitive skills gathering next weekend in Maine. There is a blacksmith there that has a coal forge and shares his skills with the young and old. Great fella and i appreciate the time taken to video this gathering. As a content creator i know what i takes. :)
Love those angle iron dogs, and that dragon was pretty amazing!
I still have trouble envisioning exactly how he achieved so much detail. Luckily the full demo video will be available at some point.
Thanks for taking us along! 😎
That dragon is epic! I'm a new subscriber. I am really enjoying all of your content. Thanks again for sharing Join! Happy Independence Day everyone!
Thanks for letting us tag along with you. Nothing like spending time with like-minded people who want to teach as much as they want to learn.
Another excellent video sir
Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad I'm not the only one with so, so many blacksmithing books.
Thanks for sharing this.
The cinematography in this video was fantastic. I enjoyed it a lot.
Thank you very much!
Thanks, John.
Always love to see Clay out and about!
That was fun! Thanks, John.
Glad you enjoyed it
Drive safe friend!! See ya when you get back home!!
Thank you for sharing, that corkscrew die was a cool idea!
That's an awesome looking dragon.
I might have to make another one!
I missed the northern rockies conference this year... maybe next year. It looks like it was great fun with a lot of talented people. Thank you!
i always review your videos like a master class of blacksmithing... thanks for sharing all this info for all of us around the world. Cheers from Chile! 🍻🍻
Glad you like them!
@@BlackBearForge Looks like you guys and gals had a great time, John! Saw a lot of people watching you.

Thanks for sharing this glimpse of what a conference can be like. I hope it drums up interest for more folks to attend others' conferences.
Thanks for sharing what you were able to John. Looks like a great gathering of like minded folks having a sharing class. Stay safe and keep up the fun. OLD DAWG DREAMING Fred.
Very nice video. Really likeing this behind the scenes in the video. Can't wait to see more videos soon John. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Forge lit. Keep Making. God bless.
Thanks 👍
You always learn a lot when you multiply points of view. And hard work requires good food..🤩
So true!
Thanks for letting us tag along.
Any time!
I really enjoy the variety of videos you put up, this is no exception. Thanks for putting in the time and effort to share this and everything else with us!
Glad you enjoy it!
Looks like a lot of fun. The demonstrations are cool. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
That tool for the corkscrew is something i want to do. Im making bottle openers, but am missing a corkscrew.
Wow, lotta rain on the Front Range this year! Couldn't make this one; otherwise obliged. Thanks for the vid, sir.
Maybe one day I'll be a decent enough smith to find a local gathering like this. Goals!
There is no required skill level. You would be welcome whether you have ever swung a hammer or not.
Thanks for the video, I'd love to make it to one some time!
Thanks for the video John! I especially loved the cork screw because that style is one I've seen but never seen made. Any chance you could explain how the jig works?
Once I'm sure I have that jig figured out, I will try to show how it works. I think it could also be used for making wood screw threads.
I miss my ranger and f150 but seeing you pull up the yaris in this video makes me feel good about the 2012 honda fit I just picked up to transport my gear to and from events 😂
We still have two old pickups. But driving the Yaris when I didn't need the cargo room probably saved $80 on gas. Its amazing how much you can haul in a little hatch back.
Sad i missed it, alas had to pack a lot :(
You will be missed. I hope your move goes well and that it means new opportunities and new adventures.
So, do we get to see which treasures you parted with? And more interesting, what new treasures you came home with!
I parted with the unused ribbon burner forge components and a box of books that were mostly duplicates. The books were just donated to the iron in the hat. What I cam home with will make a separate video in a few weeks

Hi John, thanks for the Video of the RMS 2023 Conference over on the Front range, Will they be doing more overhear on the western Slopeer in the Futcher?
Its hard to say for certain. The conference was held in Carbondale for many years, so it will probably stay on the front range for a while. As for weekend demos, it's often a matter of someone volunteering to put on a demo in their shop.
I am doing my first demonstration. I was wanting to remove the smoke from the coal forge. Does anyone have experience by using a flexible metal ductwork and perhaps a 20-40 foot length of metal duct work with a ductwork fan at the farthest end . Do you think that would cool the air enough that the fan would operate continuously keeping negative pressure in my forge shroud?
That is pretty cool except the part that you don’t own a truck 😂
We have two actually. But there was no need to spend $120 on gas when I could make the trip for under $40.
Good lord! I’m afraid to ask how much a gal is there
