- At the September 2018 meeting of the Austin Ukulele Society, we had a blast learning to sing and strum Nick Lowe's incredibly catchy 1979 new wave hit "Cruel to Be Kind."

Enjoy!!
this is awkwardly really great...congrats!
Boy, I wish I lived closer. This looks so fun.
Everything sounds good on a ukulele, especially this!
It's a beautiful chord sequence which sounds pretty special played on all those ukuleles.
Such a mix of folks . . . the wonder of the ukulele bringing everyone together.
Thanks for another good song and a lovely video.
Cheers from Western Canada!
Thanks so much Barbara!
Love the addition of the chords at top of screen! Now I can play along. Thank you.
Thanks, Jan, glad you like 'em! Have fun playing along!
One of my favourite songs and a marvellous version on tbe uke. Thank you.
Thanks for welcoming this lonesome traveler from out of town into the mix! I’ve been playing this ever since. If I’m ever in Austin again I hope it coincides with another meet up!
Glad you joined us, Jonathan! Hope you can meet up with us again soon!
Love seeing those loaner ukes!
Thanks to the Tuesday Ukulele Group (TUG)! Those folks are great!
Please tell me about"loaner ukes." Do you have a bank of them for borrowing? Where do they come from? ( I'm wondering because I still have hope of establishing a Uke Society in my community.)
Thanks!
Hi Barbara! Our friends from another local uke group, TUG (the Tuesday Ukulele Group), bring a handful of loaner ukuleles to our meetings. They are Makala sopranos and concert ukes, and people can borrow one to play during the meeting. It's great for folks who don’t have a uke yet or who just want to try out something different!

Sweet!!!! :)
Thanks Clare!
EXcellent cover. I look forward to your new videos. Quality looks like you have gone HD?
Thanks Robert! Yes, HD, and started using Adobe Premiere for editing the videos!
You got to be cruel to be kind . . . sometimes.
There was no cruelty Thursday night, Sam! No ukulele players were harmed in the making of this video. Only positive energy!
Love it! One of my favorite songs of all time! Nick Lowe nailed it first, and then... you've got to see the (british cover dude) Kurt Baker version if you can find it on You Tube!
Oh.. try this!
