This is my home made HDD activity LED VU meter. Works great, but Im going to make him slower. Now it looks more like a disco
Schematic
www.circuitsonl...
it has been maybe more than 1 year for the last time i watched this video.
just caught my eye stuck there in the favorites.
after the first time i watch this video i went to the website where you can find the schematics and make google translate auto translate for me that website from dutch to english.
2 days later i ve got my first one.
a month after i upgraded it to be 10x10 circuit and i made it.
now i have one more upgrade to go before i'm done.
thanks 2 uploader
Very nice, but you should consider making a single light that turns red when the hard drive load has been low for more than one second instead.
Low hard drive loads during periods longer than one second is the sign of a fragmented filesystem, or too small block sizes. Short filesystem bursts should be marked as red, not green.
Otherwise, cool stuff man ;)

I don't use battery's. The power supply of your computer is only few inches away. Use the 12V line of the power supply.
There are many things that can go wrong. Especially when you solder components to a board. It is easy to make a mistake or to accidentally solder two rows together. Lets assume that everything is soldered correctly.
In that case I would say there is something wrong with you're optocoupler. It seems to be open all the time.

I’m using indicator leds. Those are bright enough for me.
@FilmProducerJan
In the description of the video you will find a link to the schematic.
Use google translate of you like.
If you aren't able to build this thing with a schematic, you shouldn't ask about tutorials at all.
@theultimatedestroy80
First of all, this is a Dutch site. Not a German one!
And second, the schematic is written in a universal language. You can build it anyway!
And third, use a translator of you really wants to understand the site. Not that is says anything important. Just build it according to the schematic.
@Bman8862
You don't need a how to video. It is way to simple for that. Download the schematic and simply build the VU meter according to the schematic. Piece of cake.
@condor07tr
I used a lm3914-1 in my circuit. I don't know of a cny17-4 will work better than the cny17-1.
@FrankyieFrank ohhhh it is in the discription nevermind

I built this but my led's will not flash they just stay on all the time and if I adjust the pots it just makes more or less of the led's light up but not flash. so what could be wrong
@FrankyieFrank ok thanks
Love it!!
Makkelijk om wat te maken? Voor die RAM discussie van hierboven heb ik al aangegeven dat ik werkelijk geen idee hoe je dat moet doen.
Het ding in deze video maken is kinderspel (zie schema in uitleg van film)
@FrankyieFrank oowww ok!!!!!! now do i need high brightness leds or simple indicator ones?????
@condor07usa
You're welcome!
I upgraded the schematic too. I also made a video of this improved version of the HDD activity meter. U can find it in the description.
I use this improved version of the HDD activity meter on a daily basis. In fact, I'm using it right now!
10x10 circuit. I'm wandering how that is supposed to work. Tell me more!
@FrankyieFrank what kind of !2 volt battery do you need?
can anyone post a video of HOW TO MAKE ONE???
@FrankyieFrank What schematic?
can someone make a tutorial
A cny17-3
Frank Franky wat is het doel van de groene led die er boven hangt?
@PITAParker i agree internet explorer is crap and slow as fuck!!!!! :) mozilla is the best i'm using it right now to wiew this page!!!!!!!! :) thanks for the help!!!!! :)))
WTF???? the schematic is in german or something? how can i make this when i can't read the instroctions???????
thanks for that but which cny17 did you use?
