Thank you for posting.
I have seen this video only once some 25-30 years ago.
This is originally a dutch song called België.
This english version should have been the international break thru for Het Goede Doel / The Good Cause........ the still sing (only) dutch and the rest of Europe don't know what they have missed.
I`m glad to see this song available on UA-cam. I remember I had it on a cassette in the mid eighties, and used to play it over and over again. The technical quality of the song is quite terrible, and it sounds amateurish. But the melody is good, and the text is very amusing.
And they`re right, "the beer is deer" here in Scandinavia (Norway). But at least that`s better than to disappear in Russia :)
Thank you 25Klaus!
Why have I only just now realised there's an English version 🤣🤣 genius
So so so so so good!
I only remembered this song as a melody. For a whopping 40 years.
Then I was finally able to find the song on UA-cam search!
After 40 years, I found out that the title of this song was Belgie
I found the original song first. But I was surprised because it was so different from the lyrics I had in my head.
I thought I was really wrong. But I found out that there was a song in English.
And this song matches exactly the song I had in my memory.
After 40 years, I finally found the song I was so desperately looking for.
I'm impressed! Awesome!
It's so funny how they switched from Belgium (original Dutch lyrics) to Luxembourg (English lyrics). I prefer this version.
Die EBU = European Broadcasting Union, ein zusammenschluss der Europäischen Fernsehanstalten, die veranstalten ua den Eurovision Song Contest
Im here because somebody sended the link of the Video In the Wolrd of Tanks General Chat
Anyone got the lyrics of this English version?
nooit gezien vet!
Hey Folks, i am from Luxembourg and I wanna know how you came up with the lyrics. But very funny song indeed :-D
The original version, which is in Dutch, has Belgium instead of Luxembourg. But because the Dutch word België has one more syllable than the English word Belgium, they chose Luxembourg. It has the same amount of syllables as België.
Why does deutschland sound so much better than Germany?
Funny how they mention Germany as Deutschland here. 😂
I begg you pardon? Why Luxemburg instead of Belgium?
probably because "België" has 3 syllables, while "Belgium" usually has 2 syllables
This song is fantastic to learn english.
Is it a parody, self derision to "Belgie" ?
@@IROCMAN666 apparently they were inspired by another musical artist at the time who had great success making an english version of one of their songs. Well, that's what Wikipedia says anyways.
It’s a failed attempt to break through internationally.
This version flopped immensely, especially when you compare it to the dutch version of this song (België (Is er leven op Pluto!?)).
They stuck to releasing their material in Dutch only afterwards.
For English readers: you won’t find their material under “The Good Cause” on streaming services or UA-cam, as this was the moniker the band chose for this English release only.
Their Dutch name is “Het Goede Doel”.
pffff
there's a noise att 25 s - remove it!
I removed it. Search UA-cam for Luxemburg good cause and you’ll see the corrected one with better audio.
Nederlands: BELGIEEEEE
Engels: Can't go to Belgium, it doesn't exist
😂😂
