RB’s Special shoes!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- Come with me to visit the beautiful RB, a lovely horse who, unfortunately, has weak heels that are underrun. To help him, I’ve been fitting him with a straight bar shoe, and we’ve been seeing good success. However, I’ve decided to make a change from using a toe clip to a side clip shoe because his toe has been stretching a bit too far over the shoeing cycle and putting excessive load on his heels.
In this session, we’ll swap him into a side clip shoe instead. I’ll explain and demonstrate the process of fitting and making a straight bar shoe specifically for his feet.
As always, thanks for watching! Don’t forget to like and subscribe.

Thanks for your patience everyone! I’ll be uploading another vlog on Sunday 2nd Feb 7PM UK time officially welcoming Tom back to the team. We filmed and posted the videos the opposite way around thats all, but yes, TOM'S BACK!
Edit: UA-cam had other ideas, so this will now be up Monday 3rd 7pm UK.
@@Swfarriers great news
Does that mean 2pm america time as you are 5 hours ahead ? Just checking
@lisadickenson5933
You'll have to google it to get the correct US time since America has multiple time zones depending on where you live. 🙂
@swfarriers pin your comment. 😊
@@Swfarriers I figured something was a little goofy as I felt sure you would have acknowledged Tom being back. 🙂 Looking forward to seeing the first video on Sunday. Thanks for explaining Sam. ❤️
@@lisadickenson5933 I think so!
RB is a handsome and sweet horse. I'm sure he's feeling more comfortable with his new shoes.
Tom, welcome back.
This videos are therapeutic! Love seeing Tom and Luke on screen, hope they appear more, because it's nice to watch the different ways each one handle the tough work. Love to you all
Well said I like seeing all three men and how they work with the horses and I enjoy the interactions between them. Not to mention seeing the personalities of the horses as well😊
So nice to see Tom back. A full team again. I hope your exam results a good for you Tom.
sorry its late guys!
Sam, no sorry necessary. Always lucky when you want to share with us.
Hey Sam... great Video as always and no sorry needed🤗‼️
It's freezing, but you always show up! ❤ 🇺🇸
No worries Sam!❤Just hate that I keep missing them!!
I am so glad you posted. Sorry isn’t needed! We will still be here to see it!!!
Nice to see all of you back together again. I do love how you explain how you shoe the horses for their best abilities and comfort while performing their abilities. Thanks for sharing.
Tom! We have missed you! Sam, it just makes my heart happy to know you are taking care of RB. I just love how they all nibble on you! So cute! (Except when they bite! 😮). Luke, great info on shoes for show jumpers. Sam the camera man, great work! See you next time! Love ya bye!!
We all know RB is in good hands! Just wonderful!
Thank you ❤❤❤❤
So good to see Tom again.
You're like a podiatrist for equines!! Love to RB from a human who had to wear special shoes as a child because she was pigeon toed. ❤🐎😊
It's wonderful to see how much loving care you give to all of the horses. It's more than just a job to you. RB is so beautiful and relaxed. ❤❤❤
Great to see Tom is back; we have missed him.
And we love the outtakes at the end of the video.
You're all wonderful. Best wishes. God bless.
Nice to see you guys all together again! What a quiet and sweet horse RB♥...
It always surprises me to see how much effort and competence you need in your work.Great job!♥🐴💯
More happy horses 🐎 in the care of Sam and Swfarriers crew 😊
So good to see you Tom!
Welcome back, Tom! RB is a beautiful boy. His shoes look great Sam!
know nothing about horses. Followed around friends with horses like a pup when I was young. Stumbled on the channel a couple of months ago. Have never “signed into You Tube” to subscribe to anything until now. thank you for the hard work and caring, from one generation from your dad, to second with you and now three with Young Tom. Enjoy the additional apprentice coming along these days too. Keep including Horses names. love to get to know them too.
That means a lot, thank you so much!
Good to see Tom!
Love how you not only love your work and horses but the horses love you too. Just in case you don't know but there are so many fakes on FB posting your work pretending to be you. I have tried reporting then but FB do nothing!
I'm his moderator here on UA-cam. Thank you for caring and taking the action you did. Sam is aware of the fake accounts on fb. Trying to figure out how to combat them all. Seems like it's never ending. One comes down, five go up in its place. I think he can report it without having an account. It's really awful he has to deal with this and that the sites won't do anything about it. Thank you again for your support and caring enough to mention this.
Welcome back Tom. We missed you
RB is very polite and thoughtful. What a lovely horse. x
You are such an awesome soul and you do such awesome work I bet your family is super proud of your accomplishments 🎆❤ many more blessings 🙏 to you and all of your dreams.
It always amazes me every time I watch one of your videos is the incredible horse whisperer you are, how skilled you are at your craft and what an art form it is to be a Farrier!
You all seem to work so well together and so attentively to these beautiful horses. Thank you for explaining everything too; it's so much appreciated. 🤗
No apologies for a late video ever. Always good to see. I really appreciate the detailed information. Loved the subtitles.
Thank you!
I discovered this channel some time ago via Instagram and its such a breath of fresh air! Its somehow therapeutic to watch and also to young chaps enjoy working so hard and keeping rural traditions alive! And don't get me started on the views such a beautiful part of our beautiful country! And how wonderful you are with those fabulous creatures...you look into a horses eyes and always wonder what are they thinking!!! Sheer joy! Keep up the good work!👍😃
Thank you for your kind words. I might be biased but Yorkshire is definitely the best!
Oh my goodness, here they all are, our favorite farriers. Sexy Sam, the manly man with deep brown eyes who can wield a hammer harder than Thor. Cinny Sam, the cinematographer and videographer who lurks in the background recording all those mistakes we enjoy so much. Then there is Luscious Luke, with a clever grin and laser-blue eyes, a real schadenfreude who laughs when you fall. And finally Tittilating Tom, the apprentice with an encyclopedia of one-liners and comebacks, along with a cheeky grin and dirty fingers. We love them better than our luggage. Especially when they’re all in one video tending to a horse (Arby? RB? Argh-bee? What’s his name?) who is addicted to Polos. Another stellar addition to the video canon of SW farriers. Keep them coming boys.
Who do you call first, the farrier or the vet?
Can horses really twist a shoe?
What are roll pins and their purpose?
Who shoes racehorses and what kind of shoes do they wear?
What is navicular syndrome?
Haha, thanks for your amazing bio’s for us all Rose, and also your questions. We’ll be doing another Q&A in the future!
I'm watching with my little dog Lily.... every time she growls at the horses and tries to attack the TV😂😂
Oh dear, I’m a day late in viewing this video. Better late than never. Always good to see your awesome team. I love your videos of just you & a horse too. It’s safe to say that I’ve enjoyed all that you’ve done so far. I shared you & your channel with the RN’s that were helping me with an infusion this past Tuesday. All agreed that it’s quite fun to see your awesome team working & we all agreed on loving your accent & the whole you. Our handsome Sam, Tom, & Luke. 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you very much for the shares, and thanks for watching!
So much care and attention goes into every horse, and they all love you and the boys right back! It's really such a joy to watch :)
Lots of sad news on this side of the Pond. It cheers me to be able to watch you all work for the well being of the horses with which you work. Nice to see the crew back together. Also the videos continue to be done well, and the bloopers at the end are great insights. Thanks!
Thank you!
Sam you have earned your spot in heaven, and every horse and horse owner you have helped all give their AMEN to this. ❤
Pure talent. Love to see it
Great video! It was good to see Tom again, looks like he aged a little either during college or when finding Bumblebee in a bit of a mess... ;) Loved all the explanations, learned something new and am grateful for another glimpse of your work.
I love the small bloopers at the end. It is fun. Thanks. I hope you keep doing these. Thanks for the entertainment and the education while having fun watching. My back though I must admit , has sympathy pains with your backs! See ya next time.
The skill of you guys is mesmerising plus watching the gorgeous horses. Love it
You are my daily therapy - calm vibe watching you care for the horses and describing this skill. Great team Sam. 💪🏽💕
Thank you for watching!
it is interesting to see how much you actually need to know about horses and their feet to be able to do this job properly!
Hey hey theres Tomo, good to see you back with the lads 🤙 Nicely done there Sam and good to see you to Luke
Cheers from Straya 🇦🇺
Awww RB hes gorgeous. Love watching the videos. Take care guys and keep up the good work.
So nice to see Tom back
Love the bloopers😂 Tom didn't seem to be having as much fun on this video. I hope all is well.
Great video and all three of you played a part in explaining why RB is shoed the way he is. Nice team work. Also Polo's the universal best treat ever for horses.
That is quite a rig you got there! I bet it makes everything more convenient. Happy for you! 🙂
Great welding indeed. TOM!!!! RB is a handsome horse. Lovely to hear that he's a showjumper. Looks like a big healthy strong horse. I was quite surprised when I met the famous Milton (John Whitaker's horse at the time) back in day, he was so big!!! I'd never realized how big these sporthorses are. And to see it just finished winning the cup his vains popping out, steaming, so impressive. It's like a bodybuilder horse. He looked like a small cute horse on TV and there I saw all of them up close and personal and they're so big. I must have been 11 or 12 y/o best day ever!!!
Приятно снова вас всех видеть и красивых лошадей тоже. Очень люблю лошадей!
Great to see your all back together.
Fab video. Thankyou as always for sharing with us❤
Our pleasure!
What a well behaved horse you do have some nice ones on your books Sam. Very interesting as usual. Nice to see you back Tom. The three musketeers back together.👍
Hi Tom! Happy to see you again!
Excellent vid Sam, Dealing with a common problem - broken back HPA, under run heels, flat feet, and long toe. Nice explanation as well, re switching from a toe to side clips so you could set the toe back, grind in breakover even further, etc. Do you ever take and record hoof angles, match near to off fronts, match dorsal wall length? Thanks for getting technical. Enjoyed it. Nothing more relaxing than coming home from a long day bent over hooves to sit with a cuppa and watch you work , lol. Therapy. 🙂
You did a wonderful job on RB. What a beautiful horse.
Lovely RB and shoes that help to heal his feet 😊
Hiya Tom!
Good job lads 😊
Great content RBs a gorgous boy ,well done .😊
Beautiful horses. Thank you for explaining your approach to the heel damage as well as how you shoe jumpers.
10:00 Thanks for showing us that rare miscue. I wondered if that ever happened. 😊
RB’s is getting the three farrier treatment.. lucky boy ❤
Seeing the 3 of you back in action together, very good! The fine details of farrier work are amazing . Now I want custom shoes and a peppermint treat 🤣😂
Die Pferde lieben ihn ❤🐎
Tom!! Great job, Sam, explaining the problem & what you were aiming for. Glad to see the dynamic duo back together! 💜 And, as always, good to see Luke, too... I guess i should say The Three Musketeers or something. I'll have to work on that. 😉
I shouldn’t laugh because a bite from a horse can be nasty- but the look on your face saying “Don’t bite me!”😂 Bless you!
Good to see Tom Tom, back at work and earning his keep again, and continuing his learning journey. Fancy shoes, I wonder if UK horses have more feet issues than ours, y'all? They definitely don't have mustang feet.
You are an artist! 👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️
That was fascinating to watch. Fabulous job 😊
So good to get a peek at Tom! ❤ Great job explaining what and why you were doing things in a different way than the normal, Sam. I know zero about shoeing horses. But watching these videos has given me a great appreciation for what you guys do and has taught me a little 😊❤
Great video, Beautiful Horse 🐴
Nice to see Tom back 😊
Congratulations to Tom by the way. Well done lad
Such a sweet natured horse Samuel. It was good to see Tom back on your video and having Luke in the video too. It was pleasant to see the beautiful, I am assuming owner of the horse in the video too. Such a beautiful setting with the scenery and such a fine looking horse. It is interesting to watch you work your magic in coming up with the right treatment plan to allow the horse to feel more comfortable that comes off in your explanation of everything that you did in this video and it is so heartwarming. Sorry I missed your video premiere today, I was on campus for this art history class, and art class I am taking.
This was an upload. No live premier today.
Better late than never👍🏻 keep up the good work helping horses feet feel better .... Hello 👋🏻 from Alhambra Southern California 🌴
So glad RB is in your care❤❤❤
RB’s looking snazzy with his special shoes! So good to see Tom!🥰👍🏻🙏🏻🧲🐴
I enjoyed watching this a lot of work shoeing horses ❤
Yay! Tom is back!! ❤
When I attended College during my apprenticeship, the older guys in the workshop used to say, “you’ve been on yer holidays, ate?”
They also used to take the Micky and say, “college just fills yer heed with beasts.” I never did get that one until much later in life lol
What they meant was, (in their eyes) I was learning stuff that would be no use in the workshop!! 😂
The opposite was true. 👍🏻😂
Awsome team, guys.❤
its good to see Tom
Also loved the snippet of bloopers ☺️ thanks for that
Nice to see Tom back. Glad RB got his treats. Lovely job on the shoes. Thank you very much.
Hello, you are a nice and hardworking man. Greetings to Tom too. From Hanka from the Czech republic.
Sam great picture's would you ever do a calendar?id buy one❤😊
Maybe one day!
Good to see everybody toghether again. ❤
Welcome back Tom 😁 RB is being well looked after by you Sam, interesting hearing you explain things
Love watching you all work. So interesting!! Xx
Nice video guys. Blondie was really cute, you should introduce some of the handlers! 😅
Welcome back, Tom!
Good morning to our Sunshine Boys! Looking good Sam. Thanks for the great distraction from my slightly stressful days they help immensely! 😉🥰❤My father has been fighting with insurance to see why his Cardiac Therapy 36 sessions and the portable defibrillator called a Life Vest is now requiring co payments when it was supposed to be 100% covered. Sam, told you I should bite my tongue bragging we hadn't yet had snow or temps in the mid 20s. By the weekend we are likely to see snow levels drop to 1,000-500 feet above sea level which is when we see snow in the Willamette Valley. Not sure yet how much, several different weather predictions but we will be getting a foot or more in the Rocky Mountains from Washington down towards, Idaho, Montanna, Wyoming and into the Northern parts of Ca. In the Sierra Madras Mountains. We are currently 2 1/2 inches below our normal 5 inches of rain for January. Sadly since we will see rain first we will probably end up with icy conditions and wet snow making driving hazardous. Looks like your weather has been fairly nice since your snow video. 🥰❤🥰 Forgot to add, Welcome back to Tom and Congratulations on passing your exams/graduating! Your truly on your way to full time farrier job on your own terms one day! Hi to Luke and Sam 2 the videographer whose doing a great job zooming in for close ups and ensuring we are not trying to see what you're doing in dark conditions! 🥰😂
well done gentlemen, well done......
Hi guys! Great video and very informative. RB, just like all the horses you work with, are in great hands. It was great seeing Tom again!!
So nice to see tom back.learned quite alot.you have a great team.very interesting sam😊
I love the out-takes Sam
👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰🥰Love you Mate's!
You guys are awesome. Keep talking to me. ♥️🥰
Tom's back!!!! Good to see you again Tom. 🙂
Gosh those shoes you took off looked so "short" on his foot like those could be hard on his feet and legs too. Seems like he needs to see you every 3-4 weeks instead of 6. ☺But the new shoes looked like Cinderella slippers. A perfect fit! Beautiful work Sam!❤
I've never seen horses eat straw here in the states like they do over there. What kind of hard candies are you feeding RB? Is it mint? He makes them sounds so yummy as he's chewing them. He loves them.
Polo mints, yes! Thanks for watching!
HI Sam and Luke. Welcome back Thomas. Missed Ya!😊
Great work once again guys. One happy horse and owner 👍🏻🕺
Nice to see you along with the horses you take care of. Missing Tom.
As usual, excellent educational video. Loving the bloopers at the end. ❤
It was great to see the three of you guys back together. Amazing job helping RB!❤ Luke!"what's his name?" 😂
Welcome back Tom 👍🏻
You been on an extended holiday lol 🧐 👏🏻
