- See how Bluray and the late HD DVD discs were made.
The databits channel is pleased to provide you with the best in new tech, vintage and oddity gadgets, media formats, repair projects, electronic experiments and restorations of thrift store finds. There are also many "how to" and instructional titles. The goal is to search through garage sales, antique malls and resale shops for gadgets you didn't know existed, electronic toys you had as a kid, stereo or turntables your parents used or a film projector your school used to teach you valuable lessons. Typically we produce one video a week with several trips to a thrift store per month. Sometimes, through research, an item is searched for on ebay and purchased for review. A list of some of the most popular items watched here on the channel are: record cutting on various materials, DLP television repairs, VCR's, Camcorders, turntables, record players, records, car reviews and dictation equipment.

Watching a video about HD video production in 144p.
Lomdir of Hannor Lol. Dude, I was just thinking the same thing. 😂
Tehcnollgy
rofl true
Wanna see something cool? Pause the video near the end and hold the comma button.
(This only works on laptops & desktops and at this resolution specifically)
Haha! The same thought crossed my mind while watching. Did anyone else keep squinting hoping it would sharpen the resolution?! Lmao
The actual production process starts at 4:56.
Thanks!
Blu-ray discs are 100% better than dvds
😂😂😂😂😂 keep dreaming boy.

4KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
@@bretth4988 yes 4k but Blu ray is still better then a dvd as a BLU ray is full HD ,
Yeah that’s the point.
Superb, I'd love to see a video like this featuring how record companies print multiple albums to the high level of quality you receive when you purchase an album in the stores.
This is ok but I wanted to know how DVDs you buy in the stores are made not the ones you burn in your home. . .
Time to start manufacturing cassette tapes again...my nos stock is running low!
The funny thing is that these discs are still the best storage option, if kept in the right conditions.
But who won the format war? BLU RAY!
Colin Monahan . HD DVD VS BLU-RAY HD
HD DVD IS DEAD DATE R.I.P: MAY 27TH 2008. BLU-RAY WOND IN FEBRUARY 22ND 2008
Without HD DVDs competition, there couldn’t have been a “winner”
With most people moving away from physical discs to streaming, it was a short time “win”
Blu ray disc win no competition from HD DVD which had rubbish VC 1 encodes with 1080i players
I assume this is how they produce actual game dics and cases like a dvd case and disc. must be fun to work at a factory that makes the video game case if I could find one more more information about that ;/
Imagine if we could use gamma rays to read discs seeing that they have the shortest wavelength of all electromagnetic waves.
0.01 nm compared to 405 nm
Brandon Fisher You should invent that! That's a great idea. Gamma rays are also blamed for making Bruce Banner the Incredible Hulk. So maybe we could call the new format Incredible Discs?
databits Just imagine how much better the capacity of "Gamma-Ray discs", "G-Ray" or "Incredible Discs" would be compared to Blu-Ray discs if we could get pass the massive dangers that short wavelength light (electromagnetic radiation) such as x-rays and gamma rays possess.
Let's do this! I'm headed to Home Depot to get parts. :D
databits Why we're at it let's be sure to get some radiation detectors or Geiger counters and some lead shielding so we don't turn into Incredible Hulks and wreck havoc in our houses by smashing up everything lol
Wasn't planning on using sperm anyways.
the first sound discs which were synced with the film played from the inside edge to the outside also when the platter system was introduced the film played from the middle to the outside edge
Very interesting. Though the subject was high-tech, while the video itself was low-tech.
I feel for these guys, the movie studios & networks probably put them outta business...the home Blu-ray video recorders never came. Once hdmi was rolled out, it included hdcp, which prevented up from recording tv shows & movies off cable. This greatly decreased the use of bd-r's. There are of course ways around it, but not for the average consumer. You could use them for data, but with sd's getting bigger & cheaper, a lot of people didn't adopt Blu-ray burners. You'd be hard up finding a store nowadays that sell bd-r's...I have to order mine from Japan!
@ 1:26 That's Gary Gillis longtime Boston TV sports reporter and anchor son of Don Gillis the legendary sports reporter and anchor also from Boston
Who's only been buying blu-ray? This whole time.. How many you got?
5100 so far
Yes
@@kermitsghost where do you put that amount of BluRay Dvds ?
Blurays are the best! i'll never buy DVD again
CentralCoastBoyz - But what about that one rare disc that hasn't been released on bluray?
What do you mean?
CentralCoastBoyz - You said you'll never buy DVD again, what if your favorite band releases a video only on DVD? (I'm just being sarcastic)
well i'll buy it but of if it's both available on both i'll get Blurry
CentralCoastBoyz Blurry would be the DVD. Get the Bluray. :)
@schleichdi hd dvd has up to 15gb,blu-ray has up to 50gb
And bigger is always better?
Too bad that hd dvd died 😫😫😥😥😤😤
watching this while burning a bluray data disc :)
Burning and pressing are very different
Great one. Perhaps they should make Blu-Ray Versions of The Princess Academy (1987) by Empire Pictures; Rich Girl (1991) and the original 1989 Catch Me if you Can featuring Loryn Locklin and Matt Lattanzi as soon as possible.
@xB000MERx ya i think its going to come on nov. 30 cant wait!
@Paul68595 - Theres no comparison to Memorex Audio Tapes. Memorex is now a subsidiary of Imation. It's just a name. We've used hundreds of their DVD-R's and CD-R's and never had one chip. TDK brand CD-R's are also made by Imation (Memorex).
The Irony of watching this in 144p.......
Cool
I'm just guessing blu ray disc's have 2 piece's of plastic including the disc itself. i know cd's have a thin piece of plastic just under the artwork label
@xB000MERx dude im searching for videos like this for the exact same reason. i want to know how long it will take to print GT5 discs
Oha, this is not Singulus. Respect
How do dvd+rw work though?
Why does the master disc at 5:29 look like a LaserDisc? Or is it a LaserDisc?
They need to do They jobs right because hate getting blu-ray movies and shows with scratches.
lol HDDVD
You can perhaps buy HD-DVD manufacturing equipment cheap today
So, these were the ones who screwed up all the Warner Bros HD-DVD's thanks guys, all gone to the bin.
big TTF is going on here heheh
I've used Imation/3M 5.25" disks, 2.5" disks(yes both 720K and 1.44Mb), CD-r's, DVD-r's and now Blu Ray'rs and there right up there with Kodak, Verbatim etc. I've always found it's better to pay for a good name brand than the happy lucky dragon brands out there. Good brand names will almost mean 'zero frisbies' where as a cheapo brand will feature up to half the discs useless. Another factor of course is having decent quality burner drives. You can't blame the media if you have a 2nd hand flogged out burner unknown misc cheapo brand. There are reasons why certain devices are cheaper than others. Don't do it to yourself. Get decent quality and have success, versus constant fails. The time wastage is not worth it.
next blue ray mouse -.-
I've been researching on how blu rays were made since they seem very interesting. However, can anyone explain to me what they think these black things are on my Xbox One blu ray disc?
Here is the image: imgur.com/vLq3Ecc
Are those just how the disc was pressed? I'm not too sure. Any help will be appreciated :)
enzo2123 Dirt your Xbox one drive probably a Sony .
microsoft should actually think about this lol
imagine if more peple i love die from gamma ray radation
look up
blue ray
sike !
iTs a kiTe ese
Seriously
HDDVD uses same laser as Blu ray disc so why can’t Blu ray players play HDDVD.
HD DVD has a similar layering to DVD. A blu ray player will try to read it but since it relies on the layer closer to the laser, it cannot focus to the layer. Even if the laser was modded, it won't play the disc anyway due to the different codec both formats have.
Mikolaj Wiszniewski So HDDVD half ass upgrade over DVD no wonder it fail.
You're right. It got killed by its own layering. 15 GB base capacity single layer...
Mikolaj Wiszniewski How does 4K Blu ray dual layer have 66GB triple have 100GB seems like very little jump in capacity compared to DVD to Blu ray disc?
An extra disc layer will only give a slight capacity boost. It usually wouldn't multiply on the timetable set. See TechnologyConnection's videos about DVD for more info.
