I very much see your point, but I also see why they didnt add it into the movie. All the Peter's so far have been older than her, except maybe the spectacular spiderman, but she probably can't focus on these people since she has her whole missions to take care of
True, they could go into this ice and develop more of a mentore/father figure role with the main peter and Gwen. However he’s already in a father/mentor role for his actual daughter and miles so idk
I see point but nothing was stopping them for give us young adult Gwen over teenagers Gwen in ITTV you could evening use Penny in her role in ACTV minus or keeping set up her and miles. This not ship thing I don’t care for ship I’m just trying keep plot point needed replacement character.
Like a brother she didn't have but very much needed. Especially when her father is hunting her down under a different face. (Because like most comics, her father/blood relative, didn't know they're the spidy)
People can't understand this kind of relationship anymore, like with Sam and Frodo. Nothing romantic, just the greatest show of friendship possibly ever.
Actually they did in the second movie. When they enter the spider society facility every spider person who is Peter Parker greets Gwen. This shows that there was a specifically strong bond between her and the Peter parkers.
This is mainly because the Peter's they've interacted with have all been adults. I do feel that Gwen, to a lesser degree, seeks that familiar friendship with Peter B. (As opposed to the mentor/mentee or pseudo-father/son thing Peter has with Miles). But it's not the same as in the comics because not only is he not her Peter, but he's so much older than she is.
there are some Peters in the spider society that are closer to her in age, Pavitr is one of them, I hope we get to see a meaningful interaction with at least one of them in the next movie
The first spider verse had something a little similar with Peter B. and aunt May. Peter B’s aunt May passed away do to old age and the Aunt May from Miles’ universe had just lost her Peter. The two of them meet and they share a brief moment of “I missed you” it was very sweet
They do acknowledge it in the first movie During the dinner party, when Peter B notices MJ, Gwen says its not his MJ, and then she says "trust me, I've been there" I know thats not exactly what she says, but its along those lines
There was a brief scene in the first movie that reminisce this feeling. When Gwen has to confront Peter and tell him to let it go when he wants to talk to m.j. I felt in that moment that she was having memories of Peter and shows that she had to let it go instead of Reminiscing on it
Because it focuses on Miles and Gwen's relationships that is canonically romantic. But the movie only nibbled at the idea. It focuses more on their friendship.
unironically they could have solved the older issue by having tasm peter appear but I think that'd be confusing considering how andrew!peter is like 25-26 and gwen is like 16-17
i’ve always thought it was weird they didn’t do this, glad you agree. and as soon as they tell us about peters death i got more confused. a young gwen who lost her best friend but an older version lost his gwen. edit: it is strange but they still could’ve at least teased it
Nah Gwen is also important to the story if she wasn’t they wouldn’t have an entire full 1st act dedicated to her and her story we don’t even get to miles until like later on in the film
it's less that they got it wrong and more that it's not the story they were telling. the central spiderman of the spiderverse story, Miles, never lost a gwen stacy. The only main character we get who DID lose a gwen stacy (maybe? can't remember) is Peter B. Parker, but he's older, and so gwen's death isn't nearly as impactful in the relative scope of his life experiences
I get your point but there was also a comic where in an alternate future Miles and Spider Gwen got married and had a family. I'm not saying that that's the direction the movie is headed but at the end of the day comics are comics and anything can be changed, retconned, explained through variants, etc etc. Whatever the movie decides to do cant be considered "Getting it wrong" or "Missed this", it's a whole new story that it's trying to tell and should be treated seperately from pre-existing material
Bro no i dont want gwen to be romantic with them, im saying that gwen has miles as a love interest so maybe peter could step into that roll of platonic besties
I think it's because the main Peter in the cast isn't that similar to hers, he's older for starters, has a family, her Peter was around as young as her, so she'd connect better to a Peter of a similar age.
I could imagine Andrew's spiderman being able to see Gwen like this he was so broken to the point of killing people out of pure rage I'm being able to see when and is also a spider person he would fall apart it would joy me to see something like this.
I think part of it though is that losing Peter put a wedge between Gwen and her father though, you can’t have the catharsis of Gwen healing from Peters death without it being narratively resolved.
At some point in Beyond the Spider Verse Gwen, Peter, Peni, Noir, etc will be caught in some mind field where they have to accept that it wasn't canon events that took their loved ones away they just weren't strong enough.🙃🙃🙃

The most we got was in the first movie when miles and gwanda are talking on the bus after getting the goober from liv, peter watches as a spider-man and a Gwen Stacy build a relationship and smiles, hopefull that things could be different this time since Gwanda can fend for herself
The reason they don’t have this in the spider verse movies is because these animated spidermen and women are part of the MCU multiverse, thus proven with across the spider verse when the spot enters venom’s universe, and the comics are actually a separate multiverse than the MCM, marvel cinematic multiverse.
I always thought it wasbecause the spidermen we see in the film didnt had a gwen stacy in their universe but they related to her when its about losing someone close
I think they low-key reference this in the first Spider-verse movie with the scene of Peter B seeing 1610-MJ at the party. Gwen jumps in front of him, saying to don't talk to her because "she's been there".
Tbh if they bring Andrew Garfield in this I can see this happening bc it seems like not every Peter went through that loss the only one everyone has in common is losing an uncle and a police officer
