Whoever came up with the ad deserved to be promoted to VP and given a corner office. Absolutely the best advertising a company has ever done. Compelling, emotional, profound, essential. "Keep me. Protect me. Share Me. And I will live forever" should be the mantra for every museum, gallery, archive and library in the world. Bravo.

Wow. Spine tingling and a message for all of us, that is indeed timeless. The principles of keep me protect me and share me still valid today in our image saturated age.

I called Kodak and asked for a DVD, but they told me that they could not do that. The first time I saw a short version was in a movie theater and I thought it was so cool that I checked on Kodak's website. It was there for about a year then it was removed. I'm glad it found a place on UA-cam. It is actually more entertaining than some full-length movies.

“Keep me, protect me, share me and I will live forever.” I do this with a picture of my grandfather.

The lil boy in the red striped shirt is my nephew. I used to watch this thing over and over when it was on the kodak site.
I'm so glad someone put this on youtube.

This commercial is by far the best ever made, I get very emotional whenever I see it. Truely inspiring, the photograph, the most precious of our memories, an instant of time preserved forever.
Keep me, protect me, share me and I will live forever. WOW

Never before this has a commercial moved me to tears. This commercial has reminded me that as a photographer I am contributing so much more than pictures to this world. As is any person who ever had the joy of holding a camera, even if it was just on their phone. Memories. Stories. A moment in time. For others to see long into the future. This is the most outstanding commercial I have EVER watched. And I will remember it... for a good long time. If not forever.

I was fortunate enough to have watched this clip in the cinema way back in 2005, in all its glory. Reduced me to tears big time. I have this linked in my UA-cam channel as I am an event videographer and I very much connect with the Kodak message.

Wonderful commercial. If Kodak had continued to produce ads like this, they wouldn't be in the trouble they are in today.

This is magical. It really made me cry... This is exactly how I feel about photography & one of the reasons I want to be a photographer. Photos are amazing...they capture a 3D world into a tangible little image that you can hold in your hand. That moment will never happen again- ever...but it will be remembered forever because of the invention of photography. It's absolutely amazing.

This commercial was one of the first indicators that i was pregnant. I watched it and broke down in tears but now rewatching it I am still crying 13yrs later. Wow. This commercial is amazing. My absolute favorite.

Okay... every time I watch this I get chills and tears in my eyes... why isn't this commercial show all the time on TV? I have an annual membership to Kodak Gallery... this commercial would bring them in by the droves...

I'm from New Orleans and alot of my family and friends, along with myself, lost alot of pictures and priceless memories in hurricane Katrina. This brought me to tears because the only pictures that made it through the storm were the digital ones that had been uploaded to the internet. Very emotional commercial.

You're welcome... such a beautiful piece deserves to be be shown widely. Glad you liked it.

This piece reminds us all that even the most seemingly mundane image of daily life becomes a historical document 20 or 50 or 100 years later. I belong to a Historical Photograph Society and this is exactly what we try to help and encourage people to do with their photograph collections: "Keep them, Protect them, Share them...So they will live forever."
Otherwise, a basement flood, an attic fire, or a spring cleaning can wipe out the entire photographic history of a family, a town or a generation

debraann615, I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a similar experience. Earlier this year I buried my Father, and in the aftermath went through many photos. Seeing Dad in his prime was comforting and helped me in the mourning process. This commercial taps into those kinds of emotions successfully.

I was a member of the Kodak Gallery before it was the Kodak Gallery (it used to be ofoto.com). I saw this commercial before segments of it aired on TV. I always get teary eyed when I watch it. I got the long expected notice today that the Kodak Gallery is being sold to Shutterfly. I looked up this video to watch again. The concepts embodied within this commercial still resonate deep within me. It is too bad Kodak didn't fulfill the promise.

Without Kodak , we would have no visuals (significant) of our history .
    A kodak picture is worth at least 1000 words . . . . . speechless , without Kodak .

When you want to watch a commercial again on youtube, you know they did a very good job making it, like the P&G Mom commercial from the 2010 winter olympics.
I liked the mix of pro photos and amateur ones.
I also enjoyed the Howard Bingham spot, and the kid say, "it's just okay." Typical of a kid!

@strad36 It was actually broken up into several pieces to make some short commercials. I saw a thirty second version in a movie theatre and I was so impressed I tried to find it on the Kodak website. I found this full version (over 6 minutes) buried very deep on their site - what a waste. I did everything I could to get a DVD copy, but Kodak only apologized and told me that because of issues with the actors, they could not reproduce it or even use it any longer. Be glad it is still on UA-cam.

Do you know if there's any way to obtain a better quality copy of this spot and also, could you tell us a little bit about the musical score - who composed it & its title? I think it's one of the finest pieces of advertising I've ever seen.
