Did you see that the original creator of Shadow Hearts lunched a kick starter for the Spiritual Successor of the Shadow Hearts series? It's called Penny Blood
I absolutely adore this game as it's one of my all-time favourite games and I actually own the physical game itself that i got quite cheap back during the PS2's lifespan and before the game was named a cult classic.
Im sure you've heard already, but in the wierd case you didnt: there's a double kickstarter campaign right now, from the creators of wild arms and shadow hearts, they are making spiritual successors of both franchises (Armed Fantasia & Penny Blood), it would be cool if you could make a video talking about it so you can spread the word thanks!
The Dual Kickstarter looks great and I'm super excited that it flew past it's goal and already hit 1M in funding. I'll definitely be taking a look at them at some point... and i suppose ill have to look at Wild Arms on the channel at some point too now.
I know it, I was a bit late discovering it at a time but thanks to a friend I got all 3 games. 1 and 2 were great then 3 was ... there (seriously) what the hell happened there?), overall a great series, just sad it’s been so overlooked in favour of Final Fantasy 🙁🙁🙁 Thanks for the video Retcon, really need it today and go hug your animal friends folks 💙🐱💙
Shadow hearts 3 is a very weird game and a disappointment. Loved Shadows hearts 2 and would love a new game or a remake, or a release. There's just not a lot of games like the series.
ok at this point I'm getting fucking triggered by people's ignorance at the tidus scene it was literally the same in Japanese and do your goddamn research or at least play the goddamn game to get context behind that scene before you make fun of it.
FFX is my favorite final fantasy. But I also love to make fun of it, and I understand that the scene is them trying to awkwardly laugh at the face of death. It's just a joke.
dark? check. mythological references from various cultures? check. bullshit missable stuff that no one would ever think to do that essentially requires a guide to figure out? check. Wait, how is this NOT a Megami Tensei game...?!
Ugh, I hate what happened to this series. Shadow Hearts was in development after Koudelka, but the PS2 released, so the devs decided to release it directly for PS2, and so, this PS1 game made in an engine for PS1 ended up in the PS2 with all the limitations and graphics of the PS1 and half the models looking with less polygons than the other half..
This game has gotten a little bit of a resurgence recently and I'm glad for it.

Yes I did! I think it looks pretty cool and so does the Wild Arms style game.
Those guard npc’s on the train sound like characters from Yu-Gi-Oh lmao! The combat system and story of this game has me intrigued
Was one of the best Jrpgs I ever played
That was a great video! This game definitely had me intrigued
Thank you CT!
This series was amazing! I hope PlayStation add it to it's store someday. Otherwise I may have to break down and get a ps2 to play again.
Sadly the ip belongs to a panchinko company now and they have no plans to get into the video game business :/
The first game is my favorite jrpg of all time and gives me so much joy every time I play it
6:12 Sounds like something you'd hear in Little Kuriboh's Yu-gi-oh Abridged.
oh wow it actually does

It was definitely a really enjoyable experience. Looking forward to playing the sequel at some point.

😮 this looks super cool
I loved this games, it was so unique. Plus, name another game where both the good and bad ending are canon.
Yes! It was such an interesting playthrough

SH FTNW was actually a Gaiden game. Machida wanted to make a genuine Shadow Hearts 3, but it was cancelled while in development.
you should definitely do a video on the sequels, i remember covenant and new world being super unique and fun
Good video. Late to the party for me with this video, but I hope you make one for Shadow hearts covenant
Shadow Hearts covenant Was an improvement in every way except for the atmosphere I'd highly recommend playing that next
Any chance of doing Shadow Hearts Covenant? I mistakenly played that game before realizing it was part 2...
I'd love to get to Covenant. Currently I'm trying to figure out how I want to do both Anime and Gaming content on the channel.
@@Retcon404 makes sense. Im currently checking out your gundam series videos. Great work 👍
5:29 That's music from Armored core.
Take a thumbs up.
Koudelka: even more forgotten than Shadow Hearts/Covenant/The New World
Man i played the sequel and i know i got to play this!
I have to get on playing Covenant, I've heard it's the best in the series

I love shadow hearts, despite its failings. The voice acting was so bad tho

There is no way I would have figured out ANY of the side stuff without a guide. Oh, plus the music is amazing so another similarity with SMT
