Found your channel through the guys at the Relic Room when I picked up a few new specimens. It is really a shame that the Permian through the Pre-Cambrian can mostly be seen through fragments, then what good known locations to find these most ancient of creatures are lost to us through State/National park laws and private property. God bless the people that let us search on their land. Without ties to academia, most of us amateur paleontologists are stuck sourcing our own quarries and dig sites. No telling what is waiting to be found out there, plenty of life's secrets left to discover. Good content, keep it coming!
@Thatpeeper ……. So glad that the Smoky Mountain Relic Room guys sent you to our channel. The Relic Room gets all of fossils, Minerals and Artifacts from the people who are out in the field legally discovering that history! we have done more episodes with Andrea Lujan and the Texas through time museum folks since this episode, so be sure to check them out! and if you go through Texas DEFANTALLY Stop and Check them out and tell them we sent ya! If you wouldn't mind please give us a like and subscribe to our channel, its Crazy how much it helps!...… We have a LOT more episodes uploaded since this one …. and NEW Episodes coming soon! We also have a NEW Podcast!!!...…. My only correction is the Devonian is when the first amphibians walked on land. Plants appeared during the late Silurian (way before Permian) and then during the Carboniferous plants were plentiful, amphibians and reptiles were everywhere. Bugs were huge and then the Permian the ecosystem further developed but the first land critters had been around since the Silurian which was 419 million years ago.
we have gotten in a little trouble with this episode because we were not clear enough on what we meant by the first complete ecosystem …….. we meant the first ecosystem as we know it and see it today.... with life on Every level present in Every place on earth with all the conflicts we see going on in life as we see it and know it today... from the thermal vents on the bottom of the ocean, to bacteria breaking down everything.... life... complete as it is today.... sorry for the confusion, for some further information contact the gang at the Texas Through Time Museum in Hillsboro Tx. they would be happy to help! thanks for the comment and for being apart of our History Loving Community! Be Sure to like, subscribe, and share this episode.... if you deem us worthy! it Really Helps!! we also have a Podcast.... "Chasing History Radio" Thanks for being apart of our community!

Stumbled onto your channel. Found myself watching episode after episode. So am subscribing. I grew up on a ranch in west Texas. Were loads of small bones in clusters embedded in limestone. I always wondered what type critters they were. Not very big bones. I'd say rat size limbs, ribs ect. Would be cool if they were investigated. Might be something new in there.

Hey not to bug you guys but I forgot to mention I am a 13 year old that likes to collect fossils and have over 700 shark teeth and was wondering if you can tell me where a public Permian fossil hunting place is located if there is one😅😊
as far as we know there is sadly no public place to hunt for Permian fossils... im sorry, but hopefully you can find a place on private property that will allow you to hunt. Best of Luck to you!

@@ChasingHistory Whose land were you digging on? I might have to go with parks and rest stops. I live in Texas, and most land that's not in the city is divided between barbed wire fences. If there's no fence, probably nobody is taking responsibility for that land. Either way, you've inspired me to get out into this part of Texas to search for these fossils, and I'll find a way.

Are some of the Texas Red Beds on public land?
to the best of my knowledge their is no public land in the state of Texas ... all land outside city parks ect is private property

When you say Pennsylvanian do you actually mean Carboniferous?
since the Pennsylvanian is in the Carboniferous ..... then yes...
buy a current book , you fuced it all up.
I will refer you to the following www.nationalgeographic.com/science/prehistoric-world/permian/.....
