This is amazing! Do you happen to have a normal 5ghz router to test against? I don't have access to a 6E router and I'm wondering what the experience is like comparatively.
I have not, as I mostly relied on dynamic bit rate which I suspect kept it close to max anyway. To me it looked as good as a cabled VR experience. I did have the whole setup (including router) in the same room, over WiFi 6E.
Thanks, great video. Any chance you could explain the bitrate and how it may change your experience. Also, I did as you did and the streaming app says my data rate is poor. The computer is connected by wire to the router and the router is a orbi 970 wifi-7. I'm glitchy in Beatsaber. I set the bit rate to high but I did not notice a difference in this setting. Also, does the internet speed matter, we do not have better that 100MBs DL.
From some early feedback of single users on Reddit, horizontal for is reasonable with quest 2 like fov but vertical is terrible. Worse than Vive pro 2.
I feel that Pico 4 is being completely overlooked in the VR space as its not releasing in the USA, it's a competitive headset for £900 less...what am I missing here? Does XR have Display port wired option? Eye tracking? I am not trolling, i honestly want to know why its so expensive? is it aimed at business users?
I would say both business and gamers. Glasses mode is actually great for putting your head back against a chair. No Eye tracking or display port - and yes it is expensive!
Headsets now a days are and have always been around the 1000$ range anything less is ending up as a cheap peice of garbage my quest 2 lasted me 4 months before having multiple problems while my vive pro eye I haven't experienced a single one As of yet and it's nearing a year so I would argue that 1100 is a fair price
Does steamvr support the elite controllers? am having problems where the XR controllers not working for some PC VR games any ideas? or maybe its the games them self?
Steam VR does. But yes some games, especially older ones that have not been updated will have issues. You can try disabling compatibility mode to see if that helps.
Did you own a Quest2 for comparison? Also, is it possible to have a 6e card in your computer an connect directly to it rather than through a router? Have the computer wired through Ethernet but use it's wifi card to connect to the headset?
I do not have a Q2. There are ways to connect the Quest Pro directly to PC over wireless, bypassing the router. I have not yet found a working method for the XR Elite but I’m sure someone will figure it out!
I see it is true what they say. You can breath on that face hugger and it will fall off. So I am curious if you intend to keep using that setup since it doesn't seem to want to run it without catching on fire.
What a pain in the ass this thing is to get working with Steam... the most-used place to get VR games. You would have thought they would integrate all this.
Sorry but I have very little faith in your YT vids. My experience with the Vive XR Elite, while still positive , is that wireless pcvr is still not quite up to QPro standards imho.
It's cool, obviously I can only report about my own experiences and nobody elses. After fiddling about with the network, I have no issues with the wireless PCVR.
What about it was less optimal than the quest pro? I'm currently using a quest 2 with air link and it sounds crazy that the XR wouldn't be as good or better considering it has wifi 6e
@@schmoe2984 I believe that in order to properly test its maximum capabilities the pc should be on the high end side and bit rate and resolution maxed out. The current settings for bit rate used in the video only allow up to 60mbits. The dynamic settings makes it so it drops below 60 if there are some connection issues but doesn't go higher than 60. We also don't know the resolution used. Optimal resolution is native total resolution of both eyes multiplied by 1,4 roughly.

This is very reassuring! I truly think this device will feel like next gen VR experience with all its versatility. Congrats to HTC
Hey Simon, please could you run a quick video showing Elite XR using PC SteamVR over a link cable?
I wouldn't wanna give up the knuckle controllers. How is the setup with steam VR tracked controllers instead of the default ones?
Finally someone with some culture. This is the most important question.

Looks great, thanks for posting this. Did you try max MBPS streaming? Curious if you see any different in clarity in an A/B comparison.
I have not, as I mostly relied on dynamic bit rate which I suspect kept it close to max anyway. To me it looked as good as a cabled VR experience. I did have the whole setup (including router) in the same room, over WiFi 6E.
What is the graphics card & cpu in your laptop?
What is the blue /purple globe in the background ?

What is with fast games like Population One???
I own a QPro now and what I really want to know is a side by side comparison on image quality and FOV.
Once more ER Elite headsets are out there more we'll see more reviews, probably in the month or so.

Got mine today and already returning it. It's sadly so bad
SteamLinkVR is Meta quest 2 while playing Rec Room just my laptop died
You should try emuvr to see if it's compatible.
Do you think you could do a sort of Through the lens vid? Do the lenses have some sort of Screen door effect?
Can you retry this test on 5G or will it not even connect?

Yes from reviews this😅 is on par with the quest 2.

Thanks for the review
Still waiting for mine. *sigh*

@Simon's Drones am getting the error code 601 missing frames, and I don't have any idea why I got a powerful rig. Maybe my router is bad using Wi-Fi 5

Some of the reviews by new owners say this head set is mediocre at best and should be around the quest 2 price .
Nice. Thanks
Mine still isnt shipping...
Hopefully not much longer now.
ya i got it im playing with it. im having so much fun thanks

Hey mate. Yeah laptop overheated here, kind of unfortunate. My main desktop computer handles this setup fine, but then it isn’t a Dell, so :)

@@chadef555 ahh I see. I'm using a very high end setup and my router is under my desk with 0 obstructions. I wonder if it would perform well there
