He his still doing melodic tracks. He just hasn't realesed them yet or played live. At the start of this year he said he would have done a full melodic/experimental album with a theme this year. However while he finish to produce this tracks he has still the necessity to create new tracks to play live. In an interview in fact he said that if the album started to took him too much to make he would have realese a riddim/dubstep EP before with some of the track he was playing live. And that's what happened with Save Yourself. I can see why he decided to call it an EP while it could have been easily an album. After the EP he said on Instagram live and even on a livestream next that "everything is getting more melodic now".
And then there's the OWSLA signing which took A LOT of time from VR & Myro as he said on Instagram. There's a collab between Skrillex & Virtual Riot which both of them play to close their set. There's the fact that VR has now started to play in his set the Skrillex mashup of bad man & Warm-Ups, that he often have access and play new unrealesed Skrillex IDs, that he has made some edits of Skrillex tracks and that famous Dropbox VR x Skrill folder.
If we add to this the fact that Virtual Riot said also he want to create a new alias just to play live his melodic tracks and using even real instrument I believe he is working on something really big. The album could be on OWSLA? Most likely. It will be with another alias. We don't know yet. We just have to be patient. I'm quite sure he is really planning something big

Its the second and third drop of touhou riddim now altough a disarm you remix with the vocals wouldve been better in my opinion

By The Way, the acapella is from Kaskade ft. Ilsey - Disarm You. This maybe a remix or the acapella is just a place holder but yet again.... we all thought that the Lost It vocals we're a place holder and we got them in the final version, so we can't be certain anymore . :/
It's a place holder.. I'm sure.. He already used them at least five times for this ahah (see Remedy).. Lost It VIP was because he probabily needed a vocal quickly for the Disciple album realese and so he had to reuse one he had licence (one of his own)
Those massive dong basses are just killers, I like how VR's creating songs like these which are inspired by other artists (For example GOAT = Moody Good and this ID = Marauda) and putting his own production twist on them.
(EDIT 6 months onward) Yeah some of these comments I made in the replies I don't 100% agree on anymore. I kept on pushing this narrative of Melodic = Good and Briddim = BAD! and how he's running out of ideas I now disagree with those views. If Val sees this comment, since he does watch these types of videos, first "Hi." and second sorry for basically pushing these narratives.
I hope to see this ID in 2020, although I'm getting bored of hearing new riddim IDs :(
@@virtualriotunreleasedids1172 Yeah I not gonna lie, even though this stuff is really nice we all just want melodic stuff from him now since he's been doing this stuff for almost 2 years now. We just want a melodic album or even something like Throwback or Still Kids. Recently though, he played on a minecraft sever with BA and some of the other disciple crew and it was so different. It's on Purple Sound's channel if you want to see it. But yeah I completely with you.
I loved that Set although the Stay For A While VIP ID I would like to upload it but Disciple would give me a Strike

I don’t like how often you guys do the whole “hold out for vr melodic thing” this is just a 23 year old dude being a dude who wants to do what the dude wants to do. None of us can even imagine his world, mind or daily grind so. I’m grateful to hear anything Valentino has to put out. He’s a genius. Literal IQ genius. Guys stop :( how do you not understand this.
