Thnx for the background info! Where we're from, celebrating Saint Nicolas is a huge thing. We, and I mean virtually everybody in our country, do the presents in the shoes, the cookies and other gift giving this time of year, as part of a long standing tradition. Even dressing up as Saint Nicholas happens a lot. In fact, this year my mom did, in order to tell the rest of the family where the presents were hidden. Catholic or not, we love ourselves some big celebration, family gathering and surprising our loved ones with gifts. So nice to hear you have a counterpart in your part of the world. It really bridges the geographical gap
I’m ashamed to say I don’t know much about the Netherlands? Are you considered Nordic? I need to do my research I love learning about places and their cultures (especially food 😂)
@@rachaelann6654 Hahaha, yes, I also love to learn about food from other places! 😋 There is so much still to discover, places, cultures, the daily lives of other people, right? That's also why I love watching your videos! Otherwise I would never have known you guys celebrated St Nicholas as well. As for the Netherlands, I guess some people may say our culture takes a bit from the Danish and a bit from the Germans. Not exactly Nordic, but not exactly German either 😅

That’s so awesome and sounds like a lot of fun! If you don’t mind me asking where are you from ?
@@rachaelann6654 Sure, of course. We live in the Netherlands, but Belgium (our neighboring country to the south) also has the same tradition
