Retired from family medicine 2 years ago. Playing more can be hampered by injuries, but the Average Golfer will always be there.
For a last minute substitute, that was great. One thing I've always noticed, is that I can feel the cold and the wind through your video.

I was in the south of spain when you filmed this & im sure you wont believe me when i say it was cold, wet & very windy. Get home and comps on Friday & Sat both cancelled due to storm Kathleen. Got to the range today as Noah re-launching the ark tomorrow & Wednesday. No end in sight of this either.

I live in Lossiemouth and the climate here is amazing. It can be terrible weather roundabout but great weather in moray 🤷♂️
As I have said in previous posts when you first started this new journey, I haven't been able to play proper golf for over a year now. Just lovely to see those views whilst you play these courses. ❤❤❤
Thankfully my golf course at Matlock has an indoor simulator that has been a lifeline and have even reduced my scores from high 20s down to 13s and 12s 😮😮😮

North Wales has become a second home for my family. My parents have a holiday lodge in Conwy and we visit 5-6 times a year. Always get a round in with my dad at either North Wales or Maesdu. Doesn't get much better than playing a round with your old man. It's become a very special place for us. I'm also part of a golf society and we visit North Wales every easter week. Incidentally, if you filmed this on 27th March, we were actually across the road from you on that day playing Maesdu and we played North Wales the following day. Never seen both courses so wet this winter but the weather has been truly atrocious. Hoping for a dry spring to give courses all over the chance to recover.

the weather has been an absolute nightmare for months. Our local course (Bathgate) was closed for almost 3 weeks because of waterlogging.
You're doing great just to get out and produce these videos. You're also right about the "can't wait for Monday" brigade. My Missus (Kay) doesn't really like golf, but she does tune in to see you without fail..... on that note, stick to the golf, because we both chose Hannah A as the best pic this week. 😂👍

Hannah B this week Andy, it was a close one. The shelter on the front was a classic.
Golf for me, is for respite, as a carer for my nearest and dearest, I need my space too, away from it all. When the course is closed, there is no golf, can't afford the range any longer, I've been priced out of the market. The one I was a member of, has gone all electronic, now costing over double what I paid for my 100 balls. Forcing people like me, away from the range I supported loyally for years. I used the range for serious swing practice, at least twice a week, it's very close to home, so handy for obvious reasons, could be back home in 5 mins, if needed, but not any longer. Carers are at the back of the queue in real money terms, when it comes to paying them for the care they provide. If we didn't do it, the nation would be tens of billions more each year, in the red.
Sorry to hear about that. A major attitude change towards carers is needed in Ireland too. Both financially and socially.

I'm in Virginia weather has been a mixed bag snow last week today it has been 63 degrees. Things are starting to get better. I look ford to a nice set down on Monday and watch your video. Take care .
Hannah A for me today, Andy. North wales GC is on my list to play - just missed out in peference to Conwy on my last trip to the area a few years ago. Those two hole into the dunes look like a special way to end a round. I have been abe to play just 4 times since the start of the year because our course has been waterlogged like so many around the Harrogate area that is all on clay. I am so fed up with it - and I rely on, not just look forward to you on a Monday evening to keep me sane and show me that when I do finally get out on the course I shall enjoy it to the last drop! Keep doing what you're doing. It's important to so many of us!
Stick to Conwy. North has some superb holes mixed with others that feel hemmed in.

Lovely to see North Wales GC here as it is where I learned my golf as a 10yr old jr member some 50yrs ago. Also played last year on our pub society tour along with Conwy and Maesdu 😊

I am one of the people who increasingly looks forward to your Monday. Keep up the good work, although hopefully without the hat and layers in the near future.Great to see you at North Wales, a good course that deserves the publicity.
Re the electric caddy: one of the great things about golf is that you have the opportunity to get some exercise and keep those muscles fit. That's why I prefer to walk and carry. Approaching 70, it's the only way I can enjoy getting some exercise and hopefully stop my old muscles from deteriorating since I'm not able to get to the gym, as if I'd want to... It also helps keep you warm!
You asked if courses overseas have a golf ladder - Atalaya Golf Old Course near Marbella has one (or had - I haven't played it for a number of years) on the 13th hole, to see over a large pond with the fairway in a dip beyond.
Great content keep up the good work and the camera working is great and brings new life to the UA-cam golf.

Andy D - 1st time I've voted for one of your entries. PGC has been open for 2 days on the full 18 this year. Then it rained again. We've had some access to 9 ("Orange" Course) but in truth, not a lot of that either. The first quarter of the year has been a disaster. Note to self - Should have gone up and played at Holywell! I've been doing some domestics... and that's how I hurt my back! Have a tee booked tomorrow but I'm not holding out much hope.

I played Trevose in Cornwall today in 40-50mph winds. Course was in fantastic condition considering the weather they have had. Huge shout out to Trevose GC. Super friendly welcome and great food in the club house afterwards. Highly recommended.

Andy B for me. I’m glad you could show us this course. Every week there’s nothing but stunning views this one included. I had my father in law watch last week video on the big screen. We watched it twice.
Totally made a rod for your own back starting this format in winter, and dealt a huge can of whoopass with this weather. Hoping next 6 months become easier, get some footage in the can to realease winter 2024/25, and things get easier. Or maybe we should just prepare for a 2024/25 winter tour of Great British driving ranges.

Hey Andy, here in Canada, except for Vancouver of course, the golf season usually starts in April and ends at the of October. So, thankfully, golf simulators are key to maintain our swing. Alternatively, we can travel to the US from time to time. From New Jersey down to the south, golf courses are open all year long.

I'm sick to death of this weather, more or less everyday I get the what's app message the course is closed. Jealous in a nice way Andy that you get to play some where, it's my only golf fix for the week and playing some pretty good golf. Roll on next week for my next fix, think our course will be closed for another week due to rain last night and today, great series as always
Played north wales on Wednesday last week, it was in good nick considering the rain we’ve had. 3 holes closed was no hardship. Great video again 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

We’ve had somewhere near to 600mm of rain so far - it’s depressing for a golfer but just think about how depressing it is for the Greens team who can’t bail out the driving range or indoor studio. Along with the rewards of being in a members club comes the risk of course closures - unfortunately there are fixed overheads that still have to be paid even if the course is closed so it’s not as simple as reducing subscriptions in anticipation of or as a result of closures. Somehow the cost of maintaining and developing a 18 hole course all year round need to be found from somewhere …….
The Home Course in DuPont Washington has a links course with a tower. Phenomenal course too
We were closed again today. Paying for 12 months membership and not even getting 6 if playable conditions. Memberships need an update in the way they're set out. Good videos, nice to see someone playing 👍🏼

Couldn't possibly comment on what was torture on your journey 😅 Down here in Cornwall/Devon it's been bad and still is bad - just being hit by the 12th named storm of the Autumn/Winter . Courses have been closed that normally never close and mats being used on many a fairway and sometimes even in the rough - they have to be pegged down or they float away. Very depressing. Pleased you found some golf in North Wales - love that part of the world (Llandudno, Conway, Abergele, Nefyn and down to Borth GC). Keep going, the weather will improve (allegedly).
Been down to the range. I’m weird in that I love seeing the ball flight (or trying to) almost as much as playing the game. Andy B
Hannah E for me Andy, it was good of them to save you a long trip, I think all UK golfers have suffered this winter. As you said wettest winter on record at my course just as you think outs starting to dry we get another heavy downpour. Water table so high water has nowhere to go.
We’ve said it before Golf is like a 2-4 hour de-stressing session, regardless of how good or bad you play.
Keep the videos coming wales is a bit far for me for a day trip and cannot get the wife interested in walking the course
Hi Andy, my winter golf has taken place in my clubs swing room. I get twice a week and am now itching to get out on the course. However it’s been closed more than open, and when open 9 holes all on temps. 🙁
I am a member at Leasowe golf club on the Wirral and to be fair the course has only been shut several times due to the course been soaked. Finger's crossed for some dry weather as this is becoming a joke all this rainfall 🏌⛳️🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧😫

Was good of the club to call you and say they could be closed for 2\3 days. I've not played a full 18 holes at my home club of Fleetwood since November last year and first competition of year last week was called off due to more rain,do like these videos as well

Back up has been watching these 'off the beaten track'-series - to keep our hopes up - and the obvious practice on the driving range.
I''ve been on it practically every single weekend for an average of two hours and it's fair to say I've probably been more on the range in these last 6 months than in the whole 12 years I've been playing this game.
Let's just hope that practice pays off when the rain finally stops and golfclubs can start to flourish again. 🙂⛳️
Here in FL a lot of courses use a bell or flag to signal when the fairway is clear

Played Telford last October, course dreadfully waterlogged. Played first round a fortnight ago at Buxton High Peak and due to the altitude, the course was reasonably dry. Absolutely hammering it down as I type this, don’t plan to play locally for at least a couple more weeks!

I tried to get out on Sunday and nowhere was open or if they were, it was reduced holes and temp greens. I hit the driving range but it did nothing to improve my mood. I need the great outdoors with a club in hand. Hannah A
Just got back from Dundonald and Barrassie. Both dry and blessed with sunshine and excellent hospitality.

Was off a few days over Easter. Didn’t get out at all. Any rainfall on already soaking ground put paid to that. Last round we had the fairways and greens were ok, all things considered, but some of the access paths were treacherous. There’s always hope.

Bloody weather has been awful for golf, it's just been the driving range for me so far. Llandudno that brings back some fond memories of holidays there as a kid.
There are no substitutes for NOT playing golf. That's is honestly one of the reasons I bought a home in Arizona. I think in the last 20 years of playing golf - I have had maybe 6-8 times I had a round of golf interrupted by rain / weather. I play about 125-150 rounds a year - so yeah I play a lot. Life's too short to have rain ruin your round of golf. 2nd home in San Diego - so I pretty much moved to areas where weather can ruin my day.
Played there last summer incredible golf course. Those 2 par 3s near the end are lovely holes. Played well that day so you always think a course is nice when that happens 😃
This rain needs to do one pretty soon. My course mainly having 9-12 holes open at the minute so it’s costing me a fortune going to the likes of Leasowe, Berirngtin Hall and Huddersfield recently
Andy A or Hannah C - quite like the content that is beyond golf. Never played North Wales Golf Club and no excuses really - another to add to the list. I play most weeks but just lucky to be a member of a wonderful club on high ground that drains well. Love the par 3 at the end

The winter membership they offer there is well worth the money if you're local enough, even if 3,4 & 5 is closed quite often.

No ladders here in America that I know of. Some of the fancier clubs the carts have gps screens that show the location of groups in front of you.

How did I cope with the weather? 9 weeks in Almeria from January until March and not one drop of rain until we left for the airport. Now golf at the moment is a complete drag, so I have decided to get all my jobs done and wait for better weather 😅
My back up not playing golf, is playing golf! I'm out in all weathers. Time out and away from normal life and I can concentrate far more!
I do look forward to these videos, as I find them both entertaining & relaxing..

Its grim up north Andy, well that is if you have not got the right clothing code , and the same for any where you go but it looks like your good to go, high quality waterproofs with room to swing for back up and a good old roll neck , 100% waterproof shoes mean dry feet, what could possibly go wrong . Loving these new found golf courses and adventures, at least you will be a better player in the wind. Would love to see a way to play cheap golf in the sun, now that would really twist my melon! Also loving my bacon butties with cheese on now, cheers Andy keep going , enjoy everyday like your last , rain or shine, were here for a good time not a long time.

I think it’s time you have a think about doing a winter in Spain/portugal in the van! Obviously for the winter coming but will probably enable consistent content 😀
Courses in my area of Fife have been mainly closed recently though have managed a couple of rounds. Got in 13 holes at Cowdenbeath yesterday (9 holes open repeated 4) on a soggy but playable course before the rain set in once again. Everything closed again today and looks like the same for tomorrow and presumably Thursday.
And, I'm rather pleased for you that you didn't need to complete that tortuous journey. The only thing that could make 7 hours on the road bearable, would be having your wife for company 😊.
Nice episode save too, by the way. And while Hannah delivered a couple of very nice shots on the course, I think AndyA gets my vote this week. Well done on the production, as usual, and thanks for persevering.
