My cedar creek Brogans just fell apart from water damage, I have had them for 17 years. It's important to maintain your equipment.

Great video. I keep mine oiled but was wondering what product would be good to keep them black?

We use a black shoe cream. It's like leather oil with an added dye. There are plenty to chose from on Amazon or any good outdoor or boot store. There are some great videos that go into the difference between wax polishes and creams if you want to learn more. Just try to avoid Kiwi products. Thanks for the great question.

Hey, sarge, I bought my first pair of brogans back in the spring, and the leather is incredibly stiff and tight. I've done the typical break-in trick of soaking in water and wearing them for a while to conform to the feet, and even took a boot stretcher to them to get them to fit, but they're still *really* stiff. Any tips for softening and breaking in new boots?

You did not mention he soles. What do is best for the soles, to limber them up. I recently got me a pair of brogans from Jarnagin and they are so stiff. The soles are stiff and hard and I feel like I am walking in Dutch wooden shoes. LOL! I have been rubbing neatsfoot oil into the soles. Any other ideas?

We talk about a sole dressing in one of our other leather care videos but sometimes, you just got to break them in. If you're keeping them oiled, you might just need time. Or, your soles were made from one tough cow.

Your feet deserve the best care you can afford. Taking care of your footwear is very important to your feet. And as always extra socks, and more extra socks.

you are correct about buying good footwear my work I get 3 years before I put new soles on the work boots I have 2 pairs as well I carry if one gets wet I can wear the other pair most of the time I do switch pair each day
I a red seal welder /millwright I know how a pair good work boots are near mind dress shoes too I wear heel when the right time comes along it hard to drive my vehicle with high heels on too never mine to wear a dress. do not laugh you drive in the heel in a semi truck and wear a dress after work
my work vehicle is a semi with a service body on the back of the rig I was tired of being overweight in smaller trucks or vans I have a working crane that lifts a lot more than the small ones I can reach over anything I am working on to
if you want well-paid jobs you need to have the best tool for the job like wearing great footwear

Do you have any tips on foot comfort for insoles.
If I put even the thinnest modern insoles then the shoes are too tight.

Either very thin insoles or can have custom made ones from Missouri Boot and Shoe. I used to have insoles in my runnof the mill brogans and after finally getting a quality pair of Sekela's and then upgrading to MB&S officers boots it's a night and day difference and have no need for them.
