How much on average would have to be invested in the stocks you showed on the right hand side of the white board, to make the $500 a month in passive income?
I won't hit $500/month this year...Single income family of six in a moderately high cost of living area. That being said, we're starting at about $150/month, and will end the year averaging about $205. Give me a few years, and we'll be at the $500 benchmark. Give me the twenty or so years that I've got left before retirement and we will hit $3-4k a month on top of a 75% pension. Older millennial here, $94k/year. We're going to make it. Patience, consistency, and discipline, people.
Would you be able to lend some insight, nothing crazy detailed, on what it is you’re investing in to build up to that benchmark? 23 at $54k a year here and I’m trying take steps now to build a financially stable future since I plan to have a family of my own, so any help would be much appreciated🙏🏾
My teen will be 18 next month and we are talking about him opening a ROTH IRA. Will be sure to show him this video to help him decide what he wants to invest in, thanks.
He’s 18. Explain to him what it is and tell him he will do it. Living under your roof. Your rules. 18. Now a days still an immature child and unable to make decisions
@@Cab520 I am fortunate in that he understands the benefits of starting so early and he is willingly engaged. We, as his parents, will guide him in his decisions about how/what to invest in but ultimately it's his choice.
Have him take on more risk than dividend investing. He's got time on his side. Tech should easily beat dividend-paying funds in his investing lifetime. For example VGT returned more than double SCHD since 2011. I don't see that trend ending anytime soon.
@rumithesquirrel7816 My timetable for this with my child is different than yours and there's not a thing wrong with that. Some start their kids before yours began and that doesn't make the way you've chosen to do to wrong either. How about we parents support each other in financially educating our children instead of trying to shame each other for what we're doing? '18? Why did you wait so long?' comes off a haughty and is uncalled for.
I saved my first emergency this month after free myself from debt all thanks for your channel and I will continue watching I appreciate what are you providing very useful channel
Watching your videos gave me a clear understanding that we Indians, especially desis, need financial education. Without financial education, one can't progress in life.
Jaspreet, truly appreciate the effort you are putting here to financially educate the community. Whilst funds do minimize the risk, would love to also see your videos around individual stock analysis. Thank you for all you do!
I like to head pay more attention to individual companies on the Devil inside and I would like to see more videos on determinate fashion under the purchase of companies to buy
More of these Funds investments and Mutual Funds videos would be great to learn. And also understand in depth how they work. I would be interested watching more of this content
This was an extremely useful video! It may be interesting to dive deeper into the long-term (20+ years) returns when comparing a dividend paying ETF versus a growth ETF (an S&P 500 ETF for expample). For instance, what happens if you take your post tax dividend revenues and reinvest them into a growth ETF....or realestate investments? Is the tax loss worth the growth potential? What are the returns when compared to reinvesting them back into a dividend ETF. Which option would benefit the investor most at retirement? Is there a hybrid model that historically works? I understand that there is a plethora of variables and scenarios here, but just an idea. Thank you again for all the useful and informative videos.
Hi, Jaspreet. Can you please help me understand why VYM shares are much higher than SCHD? (Even at the time of your video, VYM is more costly, but there's even a larger gap now). With such a significant share price difference, I'd like to understand all the various factors that differentiate each fund, why one is cheaper, and which one might be better to invest in (or at least, more heavily in than the other). Thanks!
Some people are confused that they can make $500 a month from dividend by just throwing monies to buy stocks. It takes times, analyst detail and invest little by little to see it’s trend. Then after a year you can start invest in specific company to generate $500/month. I personally invest in one company that generates almost $500/month for me and only cost me about $5 per stock. You don’t have to invest in S&P 500 or Berkshire as it’s very expensive for beginner. Just remember, analyst and be patience. Investing in stocks is long term. Cheers!
What category would a high yield dividend fund fit into as part of a portfolio? For example I invest in the UK equivalent to VOO which is VAUG, I class this as my foundation. Would the dividend fund be classed as a safer option on the portfolio? For example bonds would be classed as the safe part of a portfolio. I hope that makes sense. Cheers, Alec
There have to be a person or way to explain how to start investing not jt a book bc most ppl want to get involved but don't know the first step to take. Js
Stock price is good but not the most important thing. No one should invest in individual companies if they don't know how to read financials. There are a few companies with strong financials and their stock price dropped for other reasons. Those are the companies you want to buy. And they have a long history of paying dividends
Why not buy a 300k dollar property and rent it for 1800 /mo? Risk? Serious question, as a real estate investor. I’m looking at dividends… but more as diversification.

3-4% is the same return you can get from a lot of savings accounts, with much less risk. Is there a reason to choose Funds over savings?
Your hoping the underlying share also appreciated

Does prime rate affect dividends payout rate, ie we have high interest rates now when rates drop will the dividends rates drop as well ?

investing or not make sure U keep hustling good vid though
Dividend funds, whether ETFS or index are better than individual stocks. Thanks for your picks, though. You're not my investor nor attorney. 😊
I like anything in real estate
Wait but how much do you have to invest to get $500 a month in dividends?
First comment, best day ever!
just invest 300k and get 500 a month of dividends ... that's how you do it
Got it thanks for the cliff notes
Why not buy a 300k dollar property and rent it for 1800 /mo? Risk? Serious question, as a real estate investor. I’m looking at dividends… but more as diversification.
You don't need 300k to get $500 a month.
Depends on what assets you purchase with that 300k.
You could also hypothetically invest 300k and make potatoes
SCHD is the way.. a share a day keeps the Dr away 🙌🏻
And keeps the money away as well. SCHD underperforms SPY
I think Funds are good to go
👏👏👏
What does a company get for offering a dividend? It seems like a liability for them.
Subject of video is not correct
Don’t invest in Schwab. It’s like polishing the devil’s shoes.
Polishing the devils knob
How
Can you do this ethically? Or do you have to invest in destructive and abusive industries and corporations? People have to start saying no.
