- Star Wars Unlimited TCG prerelease events are this weekend! In this video, I open six boosters of Star Wars Unlimited, both showing the cards that I pull and also demonstrating the process of building them into a sealed deck and discussing some ways I like to do this -- hopefully something that will be useful for those attending their prerelease events soon!
For info on finding a prerelease near you, see: • Star Wars Unlimited TC...

Dude, nails
This was really helpful, especially seeing you lay out the various cards in their aspects and explaining your decision making
Thanks, happy it was helpful!
Dracula called and is wondering who does your nails.
Excellent video! I'll be sending this on to some friends that I'll be attending the pre release events with. Congrats on 1000 subs, too! (Keaa)
Thanks Keaa! Glad to know it's a useful resource for others and hope you and your friends do well at the prereleases!
Dude this is sooooo sweet! Love that you did this! Thanks for helping all of us out, even the newcomers!
Super helpful video. Really had not been paying attention to aspects and how they played out on the cards so far. Thank you!
Something I found useful, that also can apply to SW:U is B.R.E.A.D. Which states you prioritize cards in limited/draft formats in the following order:
Bombs - large or impactful units that land, and stay in the battlefield, usually have the most impact (ex: most legend art unit cards)
Removal - as it states, cards that remove your opponents bombs. Especially in a limited format, removal can be huge since there is less of it available.
Evasion - this can be any cars that buff or "get around" your opponents cards. This could be infiltrate, but I think shoot first or other combat tricks might find a place here.
Aggro - aggressive is the name of the game. If you can capitalize on your opponent playing a weak turn 1/2 or playing nothing, that could swing the game.
Duds/dirt - this is "everything else" that normally wouldn't be playable, that is just needed to fill the list.
Yeah B.R.E.A.D. is a classic MtG tactic for making Limited selections! I don't think it quite maps exactly over -- Evasion in particular is not as much of a thing as in Magic: the Gathering where Flying is readily available -- but can be a useful framework for evaluating different cards!
I should perhaps make a video talking about what the best Limited bombs are...
@@TowerNumberNine I agree about the bombs. That might be helpful for newer players.
But to your other note. Maybe evasion can represent the space / combat dynamic?
Definitely could be retooled for unlimited, but by people way smarter than me lol
@@TowerNumberNine I would definitely enjoy a video about limited bombs!
@@silverblack110 I do think having a mix of ground and space is relevant, but to use a MtG analogy space isn't flying -- it's *shadow*. Flying units can block non-flying units but space units (Strafing Gunship aside!) can't attack ground units.
@@TowerNumberNine that's a good point and an excellent example.
Thanks!
Very helpful. I really appreciated your thoughtful discussion and breakdown of the decisions of what aspects to play, cards to cut, etc.
Thanks, happy you liked it!
Thanks Tower. I hope that cough can leave you soon! Seems like you’ve been sick all of 2024! 😢
Good Stuff, I am hyped for this draft format!
Another great video Tower, this will help me a lot for the upcoming events! Looking forward to the next video 👍 -enzi
Great video Davis!! Sending this to a few friends that will be attending Pre Release with me!
Thanks, happy to know it's helpful!
Really helpful thoughts and great to see the whole process. Thanks!! Excited for tomorrow's events!
I think one of the most helpful parts was realizing how important it is to think through the quality of the playable cards in the "stacks" before choosing a leader. Seeing this visually takes me back to the Destiny days as there are a LOT of combinations (you end up with 15 stacks) and of course only a few that will end up being playable. I wonder if your stack sizes end up being relatively common and spaced out and if so, the 84 playable cards from the 6 packs after removing leaders/bases gives you only 5 and a half cards per "stack". I understand you can go out of aspect which is helpful, but apart from that, i assume a common deck with 3 aspects can only use 6 of the "stacks" right? (the hero OR villain versions of 2 colors plus the neutrals of the same 2 colors, plus 2 of the 3 neutral piles). if i'm not misunderstanding something here... you end up with an average of 33-34 cards you can play in aspect to build a 30 card deck. While some decision is made around the very few options you will not use...the "Real" decision is which of the piles are best and then you are kind of stuck with the leader/base choice to match?
Somewhat, but it depends. First off, I don't think the stacks always end up exactly even, which might tip you towards certain combinations -- second, you might have a leader so much better than other options that you would choose it despite lower overall card quality, a rare base that you want to play that tips you towards a color that you might not otherwise pick, etc.
I think the different leaders are different enough in value that I overall see the leader options as very important in terms of where I end up going -- the base, on the other hand, is often just something that I pick to "fill in" the appropriate color to make a strong deck with the leader I've chosen.
really great video dude, thank you. I have a ticket to a pre release event on Saturday and I'm trying to study up beforehand haha
Best of luck at your prerelease!
Great video Davis!
Thank you for this! Sent this to my bud that is going to attend the prerelease with me. First experience with the game so any advice is welcome
very cool video my man. that swoop racer just sitting there at the end instead of being in the deck over the thug or outer rim ship make me a little sad though. can't wait for my prerelease. cheers!
The Swoop Racer might well be good with Jyn's ability... could have been worth including, but I like having a bunch of turn one plays!
Can't wait to do this on Saturday!
i can not wait for this game im going to a prerelease and even though ive only gotten to play the game 1 time i cant wait even just to collect cards or make themed decks
It's a fun one!
Think a Boba Green option would have also been really solid pick for you this draft. Shame you didnt have Sabine as Sabine Green also would have probably been solid. From my tests with sealed, green seems to be a really common pick as one of the 2 aspects for you deck as it feels theres a lot of general green aspect cards that are really solid (And seem to always get a lot). Also if you somehow pull ECL you just get a turbo advantage.
Love the luke and Vaders! Cough still lingering, Gotta get some anitbiotics
This was super helpful thanks. Do you know if the pre release booster contents are identical to standard boosters?
I might have kept the Corellian Freighter in, I think you might be a little short on Space units.
just kept ignoring the infiltrator's skill when pointing at the red cards, I find I always want one
Do you think you were too short on Rebels to make Leia work? I think I counted 10-11 while you were building. It would allow you to get the Rare base involved as well, and more legs out of the Rebel Assault...I know it's not very impactful compared to the others but I think it's still a decent ability. So what number of Rebels do you want to see to make Leia > Jyn the call?
I personally like Jyn significantly more than Leia in Limited, which I think has a lot of "unit clash" dynamics -- the main thing that would make me go with Leia instead would be a pool that seemed heavily "aggro", which I think I didn't quite have.
Good thing is if you dont like some cards, they can just be easy resource cards.
You mentioned that you think Jyn is strong in Sealed. Why? Also which other leaders do you think are good?
Boba/Sabine/Jyn probably the best sealed leaders. Whoops also forgot Iden. They all do generic effects regardless of what card tags you pull. I'm assuming he likes Jyn because it gives you advantageous trades in a format with lack of removal allowing you to overwhelm your opponent.
30 cards is a minimum right? You can keep 31 if you wanted to?
Correct. However playing the minimum number is usually advantageous because it gives the highest potential chance of drawing your best cards.
where can I get this playmat?
It was given to people who attended the Community Celebration event that FFG put on in early February. I'm not sure it's possible to get it elsewhere, but you might find someone who's willing to sell theirs?
@@TowerNumberNine Ah, I see. Thanks!
nails pls...
all that talk about cutting that was all I could think
Haha, thanks for pointing that out! I'll cut them before the next opening video I make... ^^;
I’m glad someone mentioned this as I’m sorry I couldn’t watch the video with those nails. Lol.
Haha, at least he went and cleaned them well I don’t mind but it definitely made it hard to focus hehe
Tried to watch this video but those fingernails will haunt my dreams....
Very good video, but edit out all the coughing, it will make the video much better :D
Quit skipping over "Two Tubes" hes one of the best uncommons in the game.
This was an excellent video and exactly what I was looking for to prepare for my pre-release but respectfully, those nails are awful. If your hands are going to be the sole focus of a video a quick trim would do wonders.
Thanks for the feedback, message received loud and clear! I've already trimmed them in preparation for a new video that should go up tomorrow...
Considering what theme this TCG is about, it might have the worst artwork of all
