seriously respect the amount of time put into all the rng-ish elements, spinners, tile spawns etc. do you have anything that tells you where pokemon will spawn and when crits will happen or is it trial/error?

This is pretty old so I'm not really expecting an answer, but why in Emerald TAS Machop/Machoke work better than Taillow/Swellow, that worked better for Ruby?
Taillow/Swellow doesn't work for Emerald for a few reasons. The first is due to Pickup having been reworked in Emerald so that it's no longer a set list of items you can get regardless of level and thus impossible to get things like Rare Candy or King's Rock with a Lv2 Zigzagoon. This ties in with the second reason. The second is due to Gym Leader Wattson. Even with Quick Attack, you still die to Magneton. At that point in the game, you will still be a Taillow and it won't be able to survive that fight. Ruby/Sapphire has the advantage of being able to get Rare Candies and the King's Rock early so all that would be needed is to get a double max roll critical in addition to flinches on Magneton. Such a thing isn't possible in Emerald. ...sorry if this was long-winded! I hope this answers your question!
