A genius reimagines Huckleberry Finn from the vantage point of Jim, ends his novel with one of the most original revelations in literary history and doesn't win? They should be ashamed of themselves.
Very disappointed honestly. The entire time I was reading Orbital I kept thinking “this is just planet earth in book form…” it unfortunately didn’t raise any NEW questions that I haven’t already considered in relation to humans place on Earth
Loved Orbital … and quite a few others on shortlist.
I am so sad that James did not win.
Enjoying your show from Chicago.
Thank you so much!
Today is your big day bob! 🎉 enjoy every minute!
Aha, thank you!
Loved Orbital, but winning the Booker is a bit OTT. It’s like eating oysters at a restaurant. Great dish but that doesn’t make it a great restaurant.
Ahh, totally fair! I’m a bit surprised it won in some ways, but it resonated strongly with a lot of people.

It’s such a great book! I’m sure it’ll go on to be well loved (and studied!) for years to come!
Oh dear.

I picked the winner! I should have made a wager on it!
I picked the winner too, at least I hoped 😂 So Happy!
A baffling choice.
I really didn’t like Orbital.
Very pretty but SO dull. No character arcs. No story per se. Awful.
Worst choice in YEARS.
