Our country basically sucks! In my city, the officials love to brag about how our city is like 300+ something years old since it was originally founded in 1666 when it originally was a small Puritan village and rich in history and I'm like "Yea, well show me proof of this!" Almost our entire history has been erased for either crappy houses that won't last 100 years, crappy condos and apartment towers that the locals can't even afford to live in that are ugly and tacky looking and would be a miracle if they even last 5 years, or knocked down for parking lots! Some of the historical places we still have been left to rot to where some of them have been knocked down for more parking lots! I'm just glad that this hasn't been the case for ALL of our historical places. Some have been saved and even restored surprisingly but it won't bring back the history we already lost.

I read there were about 15 servants who lived on the 3rd floor. The first thing I think of when I think of the top floor is how hot it must get up there. What was your experience?
I had no idea this mansion existed! This upsets me greatly to hear it may be demolished. I guess I was wrongly informed about a property that was an historical property; I always thought it could never be torn down. What is the Historical Society doing to try to save this place??? If I had the money I would gladly donate to it's restoration. I have to tell you this is, in my opinion, the best put together documentary you & Danny have ever done. You two keep getting better & better with each video. I love all the history you gave us throughout the entire video. Thanks so much for all your hard work to bring us videos of this caliber.
When this was Barrington College, my father was a professor there. I have very vivid memories of learning to ice skate on the campus, walking through the woods to our house, and visiting my dad’s office right at the courtyard. I saw Belton Court in 2023 and it broke my heart. It was a lovely setting for a small college, and I’m disappointed the city can’t save it.

Please be careful during your adventures and wear masks when needed! Thank you for opening a window into this world for others! It's amazing to see European historic architecture and beauty from across the pond and feel as if I were there myself 😊
I have been following the life of this house for MANY years and just wish SOMEONE with money would save it. THANK YOU BOTH for such a beautiful visit. Your videos are always the very best in the business. Love you guys!!!! 🥰💕
I live here in the USA and I’m sick to my stomach to see all the graffiti on this beautiful mansion. I love watching you every day! I just don’t understand that people destroy history like this literally makes me nauseous. I almost had to stop watching it, But, I’m loyal to you guys and love to learn.
I agree with you it makes me piss off too. That is part of history and destroying it is not the answer restore and make it beautiful make it bed n breakfast or apartments that are affordable something
I HATE IT WHEN HISTORICAL PLACES SUCH AS THIS, MADE OF STONE ETC ARE TORN DOWN&REPLACED WITH BUILDINGS MADE OF GARBAGE. IF A BUILDING IS ON THE HISTORICAL REGISTER HANDS OFF EXCEPT TO MAINTAIN IT! WHERE I LIVE THERE ARE SOME OLD STONE HOUSES. HOWEVER IT SEEMS THAT EVERYWHERE THERE IS A PIECE OF LAND IT US BULLDOZ IT, PAVE IT BUILD JUNK ON IT. FIGHT TO KEEP THIS PLACE FROM BEING DESTROYED!
Progress and development these days can be an insult to a beautiful masterpiece that this is. Still standing and made from the finest materials in the world, the architecture, the craftmanship with an eye for every single detail, unreplaceable and just magnificent. Apart from its physical structure, its clear that many many people have graced this home and like Lesley and Danny feel - it has a story of real people and history that can never be replaced. We have lived in 2 beautiful crafted homes ourselves and developers have brought the land and totally erased the once grand houses that were there, it really makes me sad to see anything like this being up for demolition. Thank you both, for professionalism in documenting this grand duchess and yes, it would be a sin to destroy such a beauty.
This video drew me in unlike any other UA-cam video has ever done. I have spent almost a full day researching this place, because it was so utterly unique (I’m fortunate to have a day with the free time). As you may know, I watched your fascinating video in precise detail; looking and zooming all areas of interest (there was a small bottle about the size of a prescription bottle on the left side of the basement safe). I hope you or someone can answer my posted questions. Wow. I will now watch your Lynnewood Hall video. Thank you a million times over.
I truly appreciate your appreciation and reverence for this historic American property. This type of property could be relegated to an “insignificant, degraded property of the past” that should be torn down and replaced with “profitable” modern “McMansions”, but you see through this ignorant shortsighted play for profit and see it for the historical treasure that it is and champion for it’s preservation as an American historical property. Thank you for that!
Barrington Rhode Island, is more than capable to support this site. Like the Vanderbilt, home in Newport, Rhode Island, Barrington, Rhode Island, can turn this site into a tourist destination.
Just being on the historic register doesn't give the buildings any protection, and Barrington does not have the additional historic districts required to prevent demolition. As I understand, it is owned by a China conglomerate that purchased at auction. (I could be wrong tho)
Pressure needs to be put on the legislature. Im sure they don't have an appetite because of the economy and election year. Wondering what RI Historical Society is doing.
@@aprilanywhere3879 I already stated it in my comment. I do understand the political landscape. It may not be restoring the property back to its original grandeur. I think its possible to look at innovative ways to preserve and bring revenue to the state and the town of Barrington. That is something for the powers that be to figure out. I'm of the belief where there is a will there is a way.
I LOVE how you told us the history of the house and its owners! Keep up the good work, thank you for this video! 💯❣I also super appreciate the photos of the house in its original glory, it really was SO beautiful. I hope all your amazing efforts help restore this historical house!
Wow! This is stunning! Without you I would have never heard of this wonderful und amazing place! Thank you for your tour und all the background informations! It was a pleasure to watch! 🤗
Oh my goodness, you were in my backyard. I've been on that property on many occasions back in the 80s. Wow! Never the same after Barrington College closed its doors.
As a historical architecture nerd ( & fellow European) myself, this hit me right in the feels. I absolutely love the sincerity in your delivery and the depth of work you did here.
I love this place, hopefully it can be restored back to its beauty and glory again. Nicely done Leslie and Danny, for doing an amazing presentation of this grand estate. ❤
Leslie, Danny, thank you for bringing awareness to this historic work of art. (Edit: I always thought it was Lynnewood Hall in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania was considered to be America's largest abandoned mansion and in danger but you cleared that up.) I have always loved old homes, even as a child. There are many of us that wish we had the money to bring a place like this back to it's former beauty.
Gracias Les y Dan, por el maravilloso trabajo de investigación que han hecho para mostrarnos este vídeo, en verdad se agradece el esfuerzo por compartir la historia de esa hermosa mansión.
I will NEVER EVER understand the mindset of those who destroy & vandalize abandoned properties. It shows a severe lack of internal integrity & character. It sickens & infuriates me.
It’s so cool to see you do this one. I lived here during college. It was part of the college campus. Though very sad to see it in disrepair and vandalism
How did you guys find out about this mansion? It's so sad to see what shape it's in. The graffiti is terrible but it could be painted I guess. Thank you guys!!!
Your enthusiasm is so contagious! Like you, I luv historic places and homes that once housed common and/or powerful families! Thank you, Leslie and Danny!
I watched Live and enjoyed the documentary. It was obvious you guys spent a lot of time on research and exploration of the mansion! Thank you for the tour!
After listening to the story it slightly angers me that they donated so much to the hospital and this man’s home that should be kept for generations to see… gets sold off to developers how ungrateful.
It’s definitely frustrating to see such important pieces of history sold off to developers, especially after generous donations to institutions like hospitals. 😡🏛️ It feels like the legacy and the story get overshadowed. It’s important to find a balance between development and preservation. What do you think could be done to better protect and honor such historic homes in the future? 🏡
I'm your biggest fan and you two were very brave to venture there. Also I would like to apologize for what has happened to this historical location, I'm glad you brought much needed attention to this, and hopefully things will turn around. Keep up the beautiful work that you do and who knows, maybe we'll save some estates...
I hate I missed this live 😢 but what an amazing beautiful place. I could see this as a bed & breakfast/ hotel & A wedding/party venue. I hope someone can save it. There is just to much history & so much potential to make it into something the community could use & be proud of instead of taring it down to build more houses 😢 they could make high end apartments out of it if they wanted to. I hate that people no longer appreciate history in this US 😢, we don’t have anywhere near the history Europe has & that’s exactly why we should be preserving it, unfortunately it’s all about how much money💰💵 corporations can make & the hell with something that is historical. Thank You guys again for another amazing video. Much ❤ to you both & God Bless 😊
Absolutely beautiful. I can't imagine a home that large. I think my home is large at just under 2700 sq ft and you could fit over 20 homes my size in this. Even with all the vandalism in home one can see just how modern and beautiful the home was. Really enjoyed your showing pictures of portions of it when it was original. I can't visualize what it would be to live in a place anywhere near that size. It would be a crime to completely destroy the home and portions that have been shouldn't have. Sure it would cost a lot to renovate but it would be well worth it. Places less grandier have been saved. All the restoration wouldn't have to be done at once, and frankly couldn't be but saving something so iconic and historic is important. Even in modern day, some of the features of this home is more advanced to have been built 100 plus years ago. Simply amazing. I'm blown away at how advanced it is. I'd like to know if any of the original furnishings were saved or if everything in the home was auctioned off. Also, it would have been nice to seen what the garden areas looked like. Thank you very much for posting. Sincerely hope home will be saved.
Thank you so much! We’re thrilled you enjoyed it. 😊 Lesley and Danny will be delighted to hear your feedback. Is there a particular type of location or exploration you’d like to see more of in future videos? 🏰🎥
They should get a hold of Martha Stewart and have her purchase it and do a complete renovation on it for historical reasons she would preserve the integrity of the building or maybe she could help raise funds to do that
Leslie & Danny, this video/documentary was an amazing work of art. Wonderful job guys. I loved seeing how it used to look from the pics of the home in its glory. Sadly only in America is a place so full of graffiti. Some people have no respect. Why do people have to desecrate such places as this. Sad. I really hope this wonderful place will be saved. Thanks guys for bringing this to everyones attention.
Thank you and your team for making this wonderful video. I am a big fan and love content about these amazing old properties. They truly are our history and should never be destroyed. I hope the town or state of RI are able to find a way to preserve this masterpiece. It would be such a shame to see it gone to just a bunch of modern buildings. I loved your coverage of this and the details you were able to provide. So enjoyable!
This is one of your better tours. It was a monumental task, and you did well. There are so many different ways this property can be developed. US tends to tear down and start over.
Also, rather than demolish this beautiful mansion, the city counsil should restore it, put it on the national regitery, and preserve it for future generations to enjoy.
It's like a smaller Biltmore Estate. They could use this place for so many things, even a recording studio or orphans home/ or just a museum tour house like Biltmore Estate is.They need to save this place like they are doing with all the old theatres from the same time period.
I grew up in Manhattan and the building was built in 1915. We had a call box in the kitchen that showed which room needed assistance. Each room had a mother of Pearl call button.
So many amazing things can be done with this property. Not just housing, but it could be a fantastic community center or librory or town hall. When we lose our buildings we lose our past. There are similar estates near me, they're parks and arboretums.
I love your channel so much. Imagine how surprised I was to see that you came to my home state !!! You know I never even knew about this estate. It's such a shame it is in such disrepair. I feel like you do about history and architecture. I'd like to mention that the Founder of Rhode Island, Roger Williams is my 10th Great Grandfather and the painter Gilbert Stuart is my cousin. I believe I have connections to the Pecks somewhere in my family tree. My family came 400 yrs ago in The Great Migration and on the Mayflower and when the Dutch settled New Amsterdam and we're still there. I do genealogical and historical research so I am really into learning about all of the places you explore because I have extensive European heritage from Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, Scandinavia, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy and Portugal. Keep up the great work !! I love your videos ! ❤
I live in Massachusetts, neighbors to Rhode Island. This is my the first time learning about this estate. Thank you for providing a grand tour with actual photos of the mansion. Thank you and Danny for being so thorough in this video
Danny , Leslie, I have one word! Excellent. Yall are awesome, I have watched all of your Shows and ya'll are the Best. Beautiful mansion and yes it's very rare and should never be demolished! Thank you both! You are so awesome together. Jan N. C.
So much beautiful stones all within the propery walls!! I cringe to see the vandalism & gang tagging everywhere; it’s a huge problem in California especially - it’s destructive, stupid, and a real crime! Thank you Lesley & Danny for your channel and your passion for history, and for filming this beautiful property. I pray someone will buy the property and restore it - make it into a spa, a resort - something to preserve the history!!! Great job guys as always!
It is vital that this enormous stone structure is maintained by individuals willing to enhance and restore it as opposed to ripping either some or all of it up. The stone itself is magnificent and certainly makes it a stable structure worthy of being saved for future generations of people. Surely, the Beck family might be interested in contributing to its preservation as well as the many students that once attended there.
I’m not criticizing just pointing out something said. The narrator (I think it is Danny and Lesley) said that they held an auction of the contents of the house after Mr Peck died. According to the picture and narrator, Mr Peck died in 1947. The picture of the day of the auction states 1944. Either the date of the auction picture is wrong or they had a sale of his possessions before he died. I really hope they can preserve and restore this beautiful place. I really enjoy this channel. It’s the only one of this kind that I watch. It is narrated so professionally and Danny is a great cameraman. Danny and Lesley do very high quality documentaries. Thank Danny and Lesley for preserving all these homes with your videos.
You should check out Biltmore Estate. Yet it is not abandoned but it's beautiful and an amazing place. Especially at Christmas, they light up the whole Estate. It doesn't compare to the European castles and palaces you have explored but closest to what we have in the U.S. love your videos, keep up the awesome work you do and stay safe
Very lovely building and surrounds. So big just for one family, I'd say. It is very hard for anyone to maintain and repair as needed. It can be turned into something so beautiful and useful to the public. The thing that really impressed me was the water tank..what an ingenious idea! I have never heard of that. I hope it will be saved, its just to lovely to be destroyed. You wont find many buildings like this anymore.
I really love watching this kind of videos...it looks like bring me in the old times..and i feel it ...specially those old pictures... oh its amazing... ❤❤ thank u for sharing with us 😊
Such a waste of this was my mother’s Alma mater, it was part of Barington Bible College. They moved probably 15 years ago leaving it vacant. It’s a shame to see the place neglected to be destroyed.
Zion Bible College bought it in 1985; I attended in 1986-1989; returned in 2000. Zion moved in the summer of 2009. It is so sad that the buyers have neglected it so.
Nice job! It's awesome how you look past the graffiti and bring the house back to it's elegance, grandeur and dignity. Your passion in tellingl the history of the house and the painstaking research is commendable. Bravo gentlemen, Bravo.
The woodwork in that place is fantastic. The dining room is HUGE. Took 30 years to build. While the building is newer, the property has belonged to the family since 1631. So why offload it? The Rubaiyat wasn't kept in that library. It had only been sold days before at an auction for 1/3 of the value and was being shipped to another American.
Thank you Leslie & Danny for sharing this magnificent, phenomenal, breathtaking American castle!!! I, here in AZ, had no clue that this iconic place exsisted!!! It would be a true crime to see such magnificense go😞😢😰 It is also heartbreaking to see such disregard for respect & opulence in the vandalism that has taken place here…these people have no self respect, let alone respect & appreciation for such beauty!!! I absolutely loved the craftsmanship of the wood, stone & marble work that true artist have put countless hours, days & months of work into!!! The thought behind the clothes shoots, fire suppression system as well as the security of this precious property!!! I understand that it would cost an astronomical amount to restore & revitalize this property…but this opulent building is rare in the US!!! I am thankful to know that it is on the National Registry…but please, please, please do what is needed to save & restore this unmatched, gorgeous property!!! I hope & pray that someone will find the resources needed to come to the aid of this one of a kind, phenomenal, opulent building 👍🙏💕

Places like this should always be kept and maintained. It's an important part of history.
The current situation in the US is to erase history when it does not fit their agenda. It is disgusting….
The place is like the Herst Castle of the Northeast. Only thing missing is the pools and remains of a private zoo.

I'm about halfway and am leaving, the graffiti is too much.
Putting graffiti on shit should be a automatic 5 years in the pen
Makes me pissed off & sick that this would be ripped down🔥🏴☠️
We are with you but it will never happen.
I agree with you it makes me piss off too. That is part of history and destroying it is not the answer restore and make it beautiful make it bed n breakfast or apartments that are affordable something
Make apartments and events place
Elderly housing
@@cherieamourofficial Great! I would be interested in knowing their response.
@@cherieamourofficial please share to anyone in RI!
Billions wasted on endless wars but we can't spend money preserve a part of our history. What a shame.
someone should contact our new president Kamala about that for sure!
@@soniaskubal6848 Someone should contact her. She is the vice president right now. She has the authority already. Don't have to wait 3 more months.
Ridiculous
@@soniaskubal6848 not president. Vice President and not for long
lol wut history
This place is massive ! I hope is is saved. Thank you SO much for filming this awesome place !!
Lynnewood Hall has been saved and is no longer abandoned. this home is now the largest abandoned mansion in the USA.
@MAR72132 Were there education rooms in the basement?
@@MeMyselfAndUs903 there are other buildings where we had classes. This is just part of what was the entire campus
You guys did such a great job on this video; I pray it does not get demolished.
My Goodness! This treasure would make a great conference center, or a museum!
So glad that you had a ton of pictures showing what the rooms looked like furnished.
I loved this beautiful Mansion when I went to Barrington College♥️♥️♥️ I hope it can be saved!!!!
This was one of your best. Great work Lesley and Danny.
Thank you so much! We’re thrilled you enjoyed it. 😊 Lesley and Danny will be delighted to hear your feedback. Is there a particular type of location or exploration you’d like to see more of in future videos? 🏰🎥
Excellent documentary on the Belton Court, Leslie and Danny! This needs to be restored and perhaps have guided tours through it.
They should get a hold of Martha Stewart and have her purchase it and do a complete renovation on it for historical reasons she would preserve the integrity of the building or maybe she could help raise funds to do that
That's a great idea for a TV show!
She lives in Maine and restored a house there. Restoring the pool now.
I wish you could do a part 2,3 4,5….as much as it takes to see the entirety of this amazing structure. I’m just stunned by the majesty of it.
This is one of your better tours. It was a monumental task, and you did well. There are so many different ways this property can be developed. US tends to tear down and start over.
It is so sad to see beautiful buildings neglected and destroyed. I cannot even begin to know why people do this!
Fantastic history, guys! Thank you for documenting this. God Bless 🙏🙏🌺🌺
Thank you for sharing this remarkable place. I hope someone steps in and restores it.
This is now on my bucket list for places I need to visit even if from a distance. Thank you for this explore. I pray it can be saved.
Never mind I found the pics
Thank you for doing this video
you two film with such grace and respect . God bless
Americans are not like Europeans who preserve their historical castles as they do in Europe and that is very sad
if we can afford to send trillions overseas to other countries, we can afford to use a small part of that to restore and maintain our history.
Very well done gentlemen, you should be very proud of your work ❤️
So many amazing things can be done with this property.
Baie dankie Lesley en Danny ek hoop regtig dat daar instansies sal wees wat die geboue sal bewaar. Dit was pragtig.
It is vital that this enormous stone structure is maintained by individuals willing to enhance and restore it
as opposed to ripping either some or all of it up. The stone itself is magnificent and certainly makes it a
stable structure worthy of being saved for future generations of people. Surely, the Beck family might
be interested in contributing to its preservation as well as the many students that once attended there.
best example for the Human Decadence to destroy such an Jewel of History and Architecture
Please, please, don't demolish. What a beautiful home and property.
Loved this one . Thank you so much for sharing .
Was ein wundervolles Anwesen.Als es noch bewohnt war muss es fantastisch gewesen sein.
Please try to keep us updated on this beautiful mansion of it's fate. In hopes and prayers that it is not torn down.
What a shame that would be!!!!
Appreciate you boys trying. Its almost like ANY examples of quality work are being destroyed so only cheap raggedy houses are left.
It would be very sad indeed to just be left with pictures and video of such a magnificent estate. It can never be replicated.
The Smithsonian museum needs to take this house on as a decorative extension of their collection
great job on the history of this property !!!!!!
❤❤ thank u for sharing with us 😊
what a sad, sad story......too many folks have their hands in this pot and decisions cannot be made therefore
All I can say is thank you for caring about this historic mansion hopefully it could be saved .
Amazing. Thank you for the share. Would love to see it restored.... Can't imagine the costs. Well done. Take care and safe travels. D/ CT USA
Leslie/Danny thank you for another Fantastic House hope your video helps save it🙏🏡
The woodwork in that place is fantastic.
150 rooms…They should’ve turned it into a Hotel… What a shame it would be to demolish this place..
Honestly I adore Danny and loved hearing him narrator
hi...im addicted to your videos..always watching here in kuwait...stay safe guyz
I really enjoyed this video because of all the history you provided!
Love your documetary so much,so interessting with the old pictures, that helped imagine how it looks before abondentment.Sad to see the masses of graffitis. But you guys helped me to look over them.❤
