Just here to second Jim’s comments about Forever Goldy doing great in the heat. I’m SW of Atlanta 8a and have mine in a hot location with full sun from 9am to sunset in the summer. It’s the spot I always forget to water and keeps looking fantastic. It pairs well with so many plants & colors.

I garden in the Ozarks lol so I not only deal with clay soil but rocks ( limestone) as well so I do my fair amount of amending the soil ( I use a lot of cotton burr compost and pine bark mulch )
