The blending/swapping of the voice actors was always my favorite part of this episode. All of Reboot's voice cast was excellent, but Tony Jay is especially missed.
Totally agree. Everyone involved is a top tier VA. The vox mixing in this episode is also spot on.
Back when this was broadcast, I theorised that Mainframe and other systems were like games consoles, so many different Users could rent the same game cartridge from a shop. That's how game-hopping worked - they were stored in the cartridge's battery backup used for game saves. Some games consoles such as the Sega Saturn could be linked to the Internet, so it makes sense they eventually found a system with ports to the Net.
Bob Buckley should release his version of The Prisoner theme
3:30 In addition to the 'be seeing you' phrase, Bob makes the gesture that usually accompanies it -- thumb and index finger looped in front of the eye, as if looking through them. It's generally considered to be a reference to the Village being under constant surveillance -- there's always someone looking through something, seeing you.
9:12 Matrix uses Megabyte's viral infection powers to infect the clamp holding him, taking control of it and freeing himself. Its color changes to match Megabyte's blue complexion. Matrix spends much of the episode trying to deny he's anything like either Megabyte or the child he once was, but in a pinch, he falls back on Megabyte's most insidious powers.
We couldn't have put it better ourselves. There are some deep things happening in this episode, and a lot of issues Matrix must deal with.
Bob's eyelids. In close-ups of his face, you can see that his eyelids are not connected to his face like other characters. That is, the creators did not alter his model for the third season, as they did with the models of other characters.
Eventually, the fairway frolics game was shipped to the middle east by the repair center because the game was fine.
7:00 Mega-Matrix's voice turns into Megabyte briefly. "I need you to *trust me."*
Seamless! Right? So good.
Just noticed it now that Kid Enzo also puts the ball-blob over his right eye before he throws it. I think that was another eye reference missed.
Oh interesting!
They were like eh you have seen too much and but uniboob dot back in that one shot
Dem bones dem bones dem... Dry bones!
I also think Frisket always was a Doberman overall, just one with a really large head. He ironically just rebooted with the right colors in the Icons game.
I initially thought that Matrix being absorbed by the bubble was reference to the alien membrane from FIRE IN THE SKY.
Thank you so much for this. Ive never watched The Prisoner and have always wondered what this episode was referencing! And my google searches for the various things in it never led to The Prisoner. As soon as i heard about this channel i dropped everything to watch this episode. Thanks again!
Our pleasure! To be honest, this was a tough one for me to figure out back in the day as well.
This episode was the reason I got into The Prisoner in the first place!
It is a wild ride, to be sure!
Ik it’s a bit of a stretch but whenever megabyte matrix and Enzo taunt… matrix I can’t help but think of lyrics from Metallica’s “ sad but true” “ hate I’m you’re hate I’m your hate when you want love” “ I am your hatred. I drive you on and consume you” “ I care for no one” “ hey im youre life and I no longer care”
Interesting how it's Mike and Cecil on the see-saw, the two characters who are living screen-based appliances. And the jury's masks aren't just the jury masks from The Prisoner, they're combined with Hexadecimal's mask.
In fact, the whole dream seems Hex flavoured, with the way AndrAIa gets a bit too in character and the scene with her swarm of masks before Matrix's self confrontation.
I might be streching a bit with this interpretation, but could this have been the actual Hex, wearing Matrix's perception of AndrAIa, wearing OG style Hex? This isn't even the first time Hexadecimal was messing with people's dreams. I watched a compilation of cutscenes from the ps1 game recently and it's brief, but Hex repeats something to Bob that he had preiviously heard in a dream, implying that at least observing dreams is something in her arsenal.
Hmm! An interesting theory. I'm not so familiar with the PS game cutscenes. I am (even more) curious to look now.
The tiger cub was referred to as Tigger Woods and served as the first "in show" test of a new fur shader.
Then the game was played in the middle east the system had ports to the net and it was good
I AM NOT A NUMBER, I AM A FREE MAN!
Thank you again for that mention to what I said back in Icons.❤ I should also let you know that for Number 7, Hack shows off his secret third arm in it. It would reappear in the 4th season. I guess it's something to look out for. Probably not that big a deal but thought to mention it.
Ahh yes, Hack's mystery third arm. Easliy explained away in Matrix's dream sequence, but then it shows up again in season 4!
@@iwakicambo Yeah. Cosmic, Ain't It?
Hack and Slash have different colors when speak. It should be oposite, but sometimes I think it changes color and both have blue mouth-lights by mistake or on purpose, but I dont get the pattern
I think you're right - Hack's chest is supposed to be blue, and Slash's chest is supposed to be red when they each speak. But occasionally the colouring is wrong.
Lee Trevino's merch logo - Super Mex Golf - was a sombrero.
You missed a big reference to the line "Your cycles are numbered".
I'll give you (or anyone) a minute to see if you spot it. ;-)
Did they say that exact same line in The Prisoner too??
@@iwakicambo Nope. Did you see the picture I posted in the FB group? The answer is right in the image. 😁
I taped this episode
Also there is scuzzy and frisket
SCSI
Da judge is also a song
You missed it did you not
What a fitting episode to upload on April 1st
Exactly. 😉
@@iwakicambo I knew that courtroom scene was a reference to The Prisoner but I didn't think the whole fricking episode was.
Next episode is a huge favorite of mine.
Maybe not as much as Painted Windows, but it's close
One more thing:
The Tiger Woods stand-in is very clearly designed after Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes
@@tb3411 Painted Windows is definitely one of my top 3.
Am I the only one that thinks that the Satellite System looks kind of the planet Kamino?
Kamino? Interesting! How so?
Number 1.
Also this going to be das reboot
music....pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease
