    Love this! Will be making this. Testimonial: I recently ordered Marie's Cold Snap cleansing balm and it completely healed my face which was suffering from some strange hormonal reaction. 🤷‍♀️ It leaves my skin so perfect and smooth without oily leftovers, I can't believe it. Thanks Marie, I will continue to buy your brilliant creations. ~Alexis

    Hi Marie! I just wanted to say that you are such an inspiration to me. I’ve been making my own skin care products for a few years now, but it’s only since watching your videos and reading your blog that I’ve become much more proficient and diligent. :D You are also a lovely presence on screen. 😊
    Random question: have you ever tried cacay oil? I’m using it at the moment in my face serum, and I have to say, it’s amazing. I thought as someone who loves argan oil, you might like it as it has very similar properties.

    KawaKawa has SO many wonderful uses, it's really rather incredible. Lot's of people make KawaKawa infused soap here :) I'm going to grow it in my garden this year so I always have my own supply to use. Pure Nature are fab aren't they?! One of my fav suppliers :) (PS - your Maori pronunciation is actually better than mine and I was born here LOL)

    Hi Marie! First, thank you for sharing and inspiring all of us with your amazing recipes. I have developed such respect for you! You seem like a kind, thoughtful and definitely intelligent woman.
    I do have a question though. I have my own small business making bath and beauty products. I am always looking for a good recipe for people with eczema and other skin ailments. Do you think these two butters would be healing for eczema? Thank you so very much and please keep up the good work. Sincerely, Sandy.

      Thank you so much! I'm really not qualified to give medical advice; I'd recommend doing some research using the PubMed database to see if you can find anything that has some data behind it. I've had people report good results using shea butter, but I'm no doctor :)

      Thank you for responding! Of course we can’t make claims to actually help any ailments. Sorry, it was a silly question lol. Trust me, I am extremely careful not to do anything or claim anything with my products. I just really want to come up with a balm or lotion that is moisturizing and calming to the itch. I really like the idea of crafting something that is natural, soothing and kind for the skin.

    Hey Marie do you ever have issues with lip balms, balms in general sweating? I noticed I made a beard balm about 3 months ago and during the summer heat when I opened up my container I saw little beads of moisture. , I noticed that some people use micro crystalline wax. I read in the description that it helps with this exact issue. Not sure if you are familiar with using micro crystalline wax. It helps keep everything firm and stabilizes the entire balm.

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 років тому

      I don't, but I also don't live anywhere particularly warm. I do have a wee baggie of micro crystalline wax from TKB kicking around, but I haven't had a chance to play with it yet :)

      Humblebee & Me it helps keep lip balms from sweating. It also gives your product of plasticky feel to it. I use it for making hair styling clays.

    Hey Marie, thanks for showing off some very NZ ingredients, and in such a lovely way. As you mentioned, Kawakawa has a long history in Maori medicine, for skin issues particularly, so this should be lovely for irritated skin. Think I’m gonna have to make this one. Do you think a little Manuka honey powder might be a good addition? (I say powder because I don’t want to add water into an anhydrous mixture).

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 років тому

      Thanks for watching! Don't add honey powder-it'll be gritty :/

    Do you think thicker oils could cause it to sit on the skin to prevent chaffing say for a road biker?

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 років тому

      I doubt it; for that sort of long-term wear you'd want wax and/or petrolatum.

    would unrefined hemp seed oil, or just hemp seed oil in general cause drug test failures? I keep finding a lot of differing opinions on it.

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 років тому

      No-You’ll be happy to hear that using hemp oil in skin care will not cause you to fail a drug test. According to Wikipedia, “Hempseed oil is manufactured from varieties of Cannabis sativa that do not contain significant amounts of THC, the psychoactive element present in the cannabis plant… The modern production of hempseed oil, particularly in Canada, has successfully lowered THC values since 1998. Regular accredited sampling of THC in Canadian hemp seed oil shows THC levels usually below detection limit of 4ppm (parts per million, or 4 mg/kg).”

      @@Bramble1976 I remember Pākeha culling out our rongoa practices under the tohunga suppression act 1907 medicines and remedies.
      So before you open your Big Mouth how about doing some actual research. As soon as Pākeha could make a $ they want to utilise all Māori practices and the usage of our Tāonga. It's called Cultural appropriation.
