The blade is the same as the jrl onyx, the battery life is the same as the onyx, the zero gapping tool is the same, the 2 speed is the same as the onyx, the rpm is the same as the onyx and the guards are the jrl guards. It’s basically a re-skinned jrl onyx lol
@@boofyd1459I have both the play and jrl onyx and the jrl is just a little bit better then the play like the quality is a bit better to but the play is amazing. My main clippers are jrl, instinct and play
@@anthonyrivera6062bro when I first saw the JRL ff/onyx I thought they looked ugly and had weird ergonomics but then I was offered a ff for 50 bucks and wow I fell in love. Of course the play has way better ergonomics but both of those are still my favorite clippers
I tried to zero gap mine yesterday, unfortunately I followed someone elses instructions on YT on how to use that zero gap tool, and it was wrong, now I have to go back and readjust them tommorow I will say, Idk if zero gapping is the right way to go with these clippers because of the extra length when it's open. It may make it more difficult to get those lines out without a floating lever, although I do think he made it pretty simple to take those clicks out if necessary. Mine was so spring loaded when I started loosening my screws everything sorta flew out. Now some of the guards are rattling on the clipper. Weird its not all of them. Hope I can use this tool tommorow and get em back right.
I don’t have mine zero gapped. I have a little trimmer that is zero gapped and I just use the play straight out of the box. But I also don’t think it’s the best clipper to zero gap. The gap between the teeth seems wider than other machines but I could be wrong, I just looked at it and thought there is a chance soft skin would get caught.
Thank you for your feedback. I do have another question. What other premium guards fit this clippe, or do you think that the purchase of the premium guards is a waste of money?
Hi mate. Do you have any vids on fixing a very straight fringe line on boy. My young lad had a cut yesterday & they completely stuffed it. Completely straight fringe line looking like Lloyd out of dumb n dumber & the poor kid doesn’t even want to go out in public. Any suggestions for a quick fix at home? Cheers mate

@@theoneminutebarber by any chance do you notice if the lever slightly wiggles left to right on your TPOB Play? I tried tightening the screw a bit more and that didn’t help. Thanks!
Can someone explain me something about the click level on the Play clipper? When the level is fully closed(blade only) it's 0.5mm, if i put the #1/2 guard(half guard), which is 1.5mm, but if i want to fade from a #1 guard(3mm), i just move the level 1 click down (1.4mm) right? Since the #1/2 guard is 1.5mm + 1.4mm from moving the level one click = 2.9mm with the #1/2 guard and level one click down, right?
9.8/10 only Kuz it dnt have usbC charging. I also just learned how to take off the clicks and make it a floating lever. I have 1 now, will be buying 3 more soon. And have them all set up differently. I want the white one, and hopefully the green and the grey one if he ever drops those .
been listening tpob reviews all day this 1st guy who can talk and explain refreshing
Holy shhyt! TPOB has literally made the PERFECT clipper! 😮 EVERY review about this clipper are good! I just ordered mines !
Pretty sure it's a reshaped jrl 2020c given the sound the lever and the gaurds complemented by the run time for like half the price is a steal
Tpob the man is brilliant no matter how you say it
My go-to clipper. Can’t fault it. I find you can transition from the open blade straight into the number 1 guard. Fantastic bit of kit.
Can you do that zerogapped?
I'm very curious about the TPOB clipper. I will be following your usage and comments very closely. Initially, I'm quite impressed.
I put the PLAY blade on my Wahl 1919 cordless, sheesh what a difference

Better ergonomics and price tho so Ik u can’t talk crap about that

is the blade sharper cause the jrl onyx blade is trash is dull
You mean both the Onyx and Play are clones of the Madeshow Kulilang R77f

I absolutely LOVE this clipper!
By far the best clipper on the market 👍
I think you mistaken. The grooves inside the still blade. I think its the oil reservoirs that TPOB was mentioning
I think you are right
Great review! When are the alternate grips going to Amazon?
Thank you. I’m not sure on that but he does have them on his website.
Also, the oil has a higher heat capacity than most metals; therefore, clipper runs cooler(from my knowledge of basic thermodynamics)
Switch the cutting still blade with the rebel blade and you won’t have that problem 👍🏻
Best clipper I’ve ever had

This is a great review . Certainly going to consider now. 🎉
Glad it was helpful!
Great review..TPOB Gang
Their after sales care is not exist! Good luck trying to return the product! I had to bin mine after 2 days use !
all TPOB products have a 1 year warranty and great customer service, lets not mislead people
I love my TPOB Trolls
That black plastic slides through the blade to push hair out
Do you use the guards that came with the clipper or do you use a different set of guards
I use the guards that came with it. They fit well and pick up the hair nicely
Thank you boss

TPOB Play is the best
Is it still your Go to clipper?
Yes Dan still using it a the main machine in the shop. I love the wahl senior too but it is gathering dust at the moment.
@@theoneminutebarber cheers bro, I'm going to order mine now 👌

What’s the difference between this and the XO Premium?
I haven´t had the chance to try the XO yet
High shipping costs. Too bad they're not on Amazon.
Just ordered mine on Amazon but had to change region to US, then ship it to Australia for about $13AUD

Do the Babyliss or Wahl premium guards fit on the TPOB Play? Thanks!
The wahl do. Not sure on babyliss
