It honestly makes me miss housekeeping. I'd stock up on soaps, tissue, etc. Anything we were supposed to toss, we could take to reduce the hotel's waste. 😅
When I was probably about 10 I decided to try and run a charity drop off point at my house for shelf-stable items that could be put in bags to give to homeless people in the area. I spent a bunch of time convincing my parents to allow it, made flyers to hang around my neighborhood, and got my school in on having an event to put everything together before giving it to an organization that can help give them out. Things were going well for a week or so with small random seeming donations, and then one day my family got home from the store to find one of those huge cardboard boxes filled with hotel toilets that appeared to never have been used. They were even sorted out by type of toiletry with some cardboard in between each type. 10 year old me was shocked to see so much hotel soap in one place 😂. It was awesome to be able to include those things in the bags, especially since we were initially only planning for food items. My parents said it was probably someone in the neighborhood that likely worked at a hotel
Tip from a hotel worker. If you like something you can't take from a room, ask to speak to the manager and see if they will give you the website where you can buy those same hotel products. Some hotels do that. They'll give you info on where you can buy the items yourself.
I've stayed a couple of places where I wish I'd peeked to see what kind of mattress it was so I could put one on my wish list. And yes, there's ones I would put on the avoid list.
One place I stayed had a bottled water on the counter with a tag that said it was complementary and there would merely be a $4 charge if it was used. I thought about giving the front desk a lesson in the definition of 'complementary', except it was someone much higher up who came up with that.

They have small holes in the bottom of them that collect a small amount of water, so you cannot fully clean them, they also grow mold so easily, so sad bc they are so cute 😭❤️
Yeah I agree. I mean if putting the same rubber duck in your bath means you are sharing it with the former user, then the bath tub itself should be considered sharing too.

The ducks are sooo cute they remind me of my ducks when i was little i won a bunch of ducks at a arcade and my mom thought they were trash so she trew them away 😢

As a person who has a mom that owns a jeep wrangler. I’m so glad we can take the rubber duckies Cuz Jeep owners have the special thing where you collect rubber duckies and put them at the front of the window. All car owners can do this with some car owners that they’re not allowed to because of the role that isn’t even a real room is actually at Carter’s. It’s just mostly jeep owners do it, but everybody can do that so go ahead take the rubber duckies put them in front of your windshield inside and boom. You have a whole collection You can also do something called ducked basically whenever you see another another Jeep you stuff a duck into the handle on the driver side and basically you duck another persons car for fun
Yeah, that’s totally fine. I’ve been known to empty the soap dispenser into a water bottle too, also fine. What are they going to judge me for using too much shampoo? Haha
