Buoyant as in "it floats" but also "having a cheery personality" or "something that rises to the top" Armiger as in "a person allowed to use heraldry" So essentially while at first pass it appears to be describing some sort of a Marine or Naval Knight it could also mean a knight who rises through the ranks quickly, or a knight who keeps up morale with his personality and charisma.
Can't really remember, at the moment, but the construction set has a pretty neat description of the Armigers. Calling them, something like, "Vivec's personal order of samurai stealth poets."
@@nwahnerevar9398 Kirkbride described them once as "gay samurai". Although there are female members and one quest where Buoyant Armiger dated a female.
@boreanknight The other Kirkbrid-ism thing that got semi-cut Vivec being a god of duality and wanting to be two opposites at once, Vivec is a full hermaphrodite and was implied to have both sets of genitals by Kirkbride on the old Bethesda forums (If I remember correctly) and one older design concept was essentially the Chimer half of his body was supposed to be a woman with breast
I get the warm and fuzzy feeling from your videos describing Morrowind NPCs. There is a real sense of interconnectedness between inhabitants of Vvardenfell when you look at these questlines. I don't remember seeing such things in Skyrim or Oblivion.
The Bouyant Armigers were really cool. I do wish the game did more with them, though. Like their presence is there and a few quests involve them but I feel they weren't as present as they could be. But he is a cool character.
Every time you drop one of these character based videos I immediately want to go back and play morrowind with these shared perspectives. It makes the world feel even more full than it already is with each character's background no matter how big or small
I think he, along with all the Armigers point out and really highlight how different Morrowind is from the western nations. Akin to something you pointed out, their Chivalry and honor is something different than a western or even 'real' understanding of a Knight. It's one of guile, cunning, stealth. It honestly reminds me of how modern soldiers are seen as warriors. Needing those attributes to survive, you can't just throw on plate and swing a sword in the name of a king and run head-long into battle. It's subtle and almost artistic, it knows that it is romanticized and runs with it. Also, to my understanding it was Kirkbride's analogy of 'Gay Samurai' which is neat.
Love the video. I always thought knights were cool. I saw Bouyant Armigers around, but never knew alot about them. Might try playing one in a future run.
I wonder why Skyrim chose to not have any knights especially considering Oblivion not only had multiple knight factions we could join but the Knights of the Nine dlc was a big deal. I understand it's not a Nord thing but surely a few wandering hedge knights from Wayrest/Sentinel would have come to Skyrim looking for work or glory.
Both Morrowind and Oblivion have plenty of examples of Nord knights, for example Morrowind's Imperial Legion had several Nord knight-protectors, high ranking members. I think it comes down to the poor portrayal of the Legion in Skyrim. Or at least have a smaller knightly order in cities like Solitude, or Markarth since it's close to High Rock and is supposed to be cosmopolitan. I think they just wanted to focus on the "viking" and barbarian elements of Nord's culture, because it was Skyrims big selling point.
Is it possible that Salyn is the one on the box art (or was it promotional art material)? The dunmer warrior holding the two handed sword. Even though you mentioned that they prefer to use light weapons
I've seen some Armigers with two handed swords (there's one in this video), but they could be from a mod because their class only supports short blades. I think that dunmer warrior is just a generic concept art though.
6:55 "Simply the best of the Armigers" This is an understandable interpretation, but knowing Vivec's proclivity towards seafaring folk, I think it's more likely that "enamored" in this case means "in love". Or, at the very least, genderfluid bisexual disaster Vivec thinks our boy is pretty darn hot. ...by the blessed ALMSIVI, Vivec really needs to learn how to keep hir Muatra in hir... whatever ze's wearing.

I think Kirkbride intended for them to be lovers of Vivec as well, hence the dagger being called Enamor

Yeah I agree with your assessment of salyn if vivec is King Arthur then salyn is his Lancelot. A true elf of chivalry and virtue
That's a good analogy!
More like Salmon Spaghetti. Thanks for the videos, they make the hours at work fly by.
That’s how you wrote a good character!! Which it not there for quest but also lore and to be admired!! One of many reasons I adore morrowind

Dudes will see this and think: "Hell yeah"
Wow! Morrowind never stops surprising! Thank you for the video!

I always enjoy seeing Salyn, I feel like he really represents the best parts of velothi culture!
Agreed!

Morrowind is a game that keeps on giving.
Love the super high production quality of your videos, and how you like to cover lesser known characters.
Thanks!
Another great video. These are awesome stuff, hope you do more of the similar content. (Svaka čast :)
thank u 4 keeping the morrowind content up, dont shy in making that video about knights in vvanderfell, or even knights in ptr..?
I'll do a video on knights for sure!
I think that you are amazingly cool to reveal a character using the example of a computer game. 10 out of 10
Thanks!
Pls keep up the great content. Your channels is a hidden morrowind gem 🤣❤️
Thank you!
Down with the false tribunal

It could acceptably be pronounced the same as bouyant. Boy-ent.

@@boreanknight Not to mention, the Dunmer from the box art has a totally different face and hair.
Courteous, chivalrous, not Vivec's type.
