For anyone wanting to use Skypaint, just so you would know you'd need a 32bit version of photoshop, because the plugin is 32 bit,i dont know if it would work with a bridge but ill try later
A GZDoom mod named City of The Damned: Apocalypse encased the level in a giant room instead of a sky box. Or at least that's why I think the sky had corners with ambient occlusion.
As far as I know, Doom's default skyboxes are pretty much the same as Half-Life's where it's a box following you around, so if you want to have a perspective effect, you would have to use a giant box. That's actually what Half-Life 2 did for their 3D skyboxes. They put a bunch of small 3D models in a box and then projected that box onto the main level. it took as a surprising amount of time to make sky out of sky instead of a box.
man this was easy to understand! Ive been taking pictures of the sky for weeks now to use as skybox material, but I couldnt understand how to do it this helps a lot!
It's kind of a gray area. I'd assume no, on a technicality, as you usually need a license, but the license is not being provided anymore so it'd be literally impossible to change. You'd probably have to track down some 30 year old legal document to make sure. My personal stance on it is that if they wanted me to buy it they should have allowed me to buy it, but if you're extra worried about it I guess you could license the new version of Terragen, since its technically the same product, just 20 years newer.
