Karun Nair played a few more tests after that 300 and he was quite poor in them..... Afterwards he completely failed to replicate any kind of form in the Ranji trophy or IPL to warrant him a test team selection.... Everything is not political. Some people are saying that Rohit is not fit for test.... He averages over 45 in close to 50 matches. Pujara and Rahane both had been dropped in the past for form, but any batsmen had failed to fill in their shoes. Outside of his 303, he has a grand total of 73 runs in 5 games......

@@mahsh.m To bat at 6, I don't think we have any better alternatives to SKY; as for Rishab, his performance in both Tests and ODIs have been spectacular as well as in IPL..... And both of them had to struggle for years before they made the cut for team India.
That innings was amazing no doubt but one thing u didn't mention was the fact that next match he was dropped for vice captain Rahane who was one of the the three pillars of indian test team. Also apart from that innings he didn't score anything special. As for ranji and ipl, his performance only declined over the years even after plenty of chances, so how do you expect the selectors to give chance to an out of form player?
Also if I remember correctly he also captained delhi daredevils in one season but the season was a big flop for him so yeah he was def given opportunities

@@tiktok1449 Rohit and Jadeja arrived in the team at the time when Dhoni started doing politics and wanted to sack every senior player in the team. It’s obvious they were given those many chances. Manish Pandey came onto the scene when India already had lots of good players in their squad. His style of playing away from the body meant he could only be a success in conditions where the ball doesn’t show lateral movement. Still he was given many chances.
@@tiktok1449 Rahane got so many chances because he was a sensation in IPL and he impressed everyone with his technical soundness in his first overseas SENA tour 2014 ENG test series where every other top and middle order batsman failed.
But only BCCI selectors know why Kohli, Pujara and Rahane are getting so many chances these days even after failing for the past 3.5 years
It's very similar to Wasim Jaffer. He played very well in Ranji averaging 50+ even when he retired. He was also the highest run-getter for multiple seasons in Ranji but didn't get a chance back in team because the team had some big names already. Karun Nair got chance in absence of Ajinkya Rahane but when he returned, he didn't get enough chances. Right now, you can say the same thing is happening to Sarfaraz Khan who averages a staggering 74+ in FC but hasn't played for the Indian team yet even after his excellent performances post-pandemic.
Jaffer was given chances to play for india. In fact was in and out of the team. During 2005 to about early 2008 he was given a long run in the test squad but inconsistency and a bad tour of Australia, followed by the emerging Gambhir, pretty much ended it for him.
Thank you so much for bringing these players up. Who knows maybe this will help them get that one more chance
Have u ever seen deepak hooda playing big innings in IPl or avesh khan or naman ojha but still they played many IPL seasons , hanuma Vihari is a good test player still he is not getting place regularly in the test team.

Those saying that he is very unlucky/ it is due to Indian politics, here is the truth. After doing some research, There were many times when he when he was given chances due to his talent, however, he did not keep up his fitness and had no respect for the coaches/ captain. He kept partying late and eventually lost his place. Hence the tweet ' give me one more chance'

@@arhan4673 drawing the match only once doesn't make you great .you need to perform consistently when the important matches come and also when the top order fails you need to take the lead and make runs even though wicket falls at the other end . Just like dhoni . Dhoni played till last wicket when the other side were falling one by one . He played like a responsible player in both odis and test .but I haven't seen vihari ,Bharat and some other players stuck to the pitch fighting till last .even Australian bowlers like Cummins ,starc and English bowlers like broad do much better batting in worse conditions than these batsmen like vihari , bharat . Nair should have gotten more chances .

For all who are crying for him, his total runs in 6 tests 7 innings are 374. 303 were in one inning so 71 in 6 test innings. His second highest was 26.
That was just one time wonder, nothing else. Many players get second chances after extra ordinary ranji ipl seasons, but Karun was not able to get any, he had a ranji season on some 300 runs in 15 innings and some 250 runs in around 10+ innings for India A. He has only 2 centuries for 90 List A matches.
If anyone is not able to comeback in india team, its his fault not of selectors or some politics.

I was there in Chepauk MAC stadium when KL Rahul got out on 199, then went on to go for the 2nd day where Karun Nair was playing. Since it was lunch break i went home to resume my work at 3:30pm just only got to know that by that time he scored 300runs. I was kicking myself that i should have taken permission to office.

But let me tell you that i had heart ache watching it on the tv itself 😭 watching match in MAC stadium at Chepauk is a very different experience when it comes to Test match. I have heard many say that it is a very different experience in comparison to other grand stadiums in the country. Tied test match not to forget about that one, fortunate are those who were there at that time. I think this is the only ground where 2 players have scored a triple hundreds Dean Jones and Karun Nair.

I still remember his Triple Ton. It was a clean batting track.. we had so many go knocks by other batsman as well... That might the reason y he was dropped...
In that triple century innings his catch was missed so many times and he was just plain lucky to get there.
That's how brutal and tough to get into indian team and that too with all the insider politics.
