I think previous joy boy had power of mother flame that countered the sea which was the power of sun god Nika fruit along the rubber power so it can be that Imu might have some how managed to take that mother flame power from joy boy and sealed it in that tank (as IMU have the power of sea) and then managed to kill joy boy and as we know that devil fruit manifest after death of user again some where , it can be that IMU having the power of sea sealed the mother flame in a sea tank due to which it didn't get back with the rubber power of Nika fruit and only the rubber power got back with the devil fruit and thus naming it gomu gomu nomi aka sun god Nika fruit and it can be that the mother flame is the part of the gomu gomu power resulting in forming of the sun god Nika fruit , so to again regain that power luffy might some how eat that mother flame to be the sun god so i think that what may be the relation between luffy and mother flame ,

I think there are 2 power ups remaining. One is regarding the elbaf training and the other has to be with a weapon. All yonkos + rogers + white beard has a sword or some sort of weapon...luffy still doesn't have that...i think it will be introduced sometime in future.
