I love all of the pieces in your winter wardrobe. I always think I will add a print or two to my mostly solid pieces, but wear them usually only 1 season and declutter. I agree that solid colors are easier to mix and match.

I do see a need for classic solid colors. But, I am a sewist and make all my clothes. I love fabric with patterns and colors! And I do love florals even though I hear all the time that older women (I’m 70) shouldn’t wear them! Like you said, wear what you are comfortable in and what makes you happy and feel pretty! My wardrobe consists of a couple patterned tops. They are the classic white/navy Breton stripe, and a couple with black/white stripes. Other than that, I choose solids as you did.

We have spring here in South Australia so we are (not) looking forward to summer. I think our summers are a lot like yours in Texas, either very hot or very,very hot! I am in the process of making myself some nice cool layered / tiered ? dresses. I’m in my early 70s now so for me it’s all about comfort and maxi dresses are what I’m leaning towards. I like florals that are not too in your face, but I’m pairing them with plain colours if I need a cardigan or jacket. I like the concept of a 10 item wardrobe and I’m going to try that this summer. It’s a new concept for me so I’ll watch some of the videos by Jennifer that you recommended. Thanks so much for sharing, I firmly believe that you are never too old to learn something new. 🥰

Great choices. I love Vivaia & Quince has been my go to for cashmere, silk and linen. I have a couple of T shirts from Mott & Bow but haven’t tried their cashmere sweaters or jeans. I’m pretty much a Levi jean girl. Ive also heard all positive about Lily Silk but haven’t tried them yet. Thank you for the bra company suggestion as well. It’s hard to find a good bra, always searching for one.

We have an Autumn, it can be quite chilly in the morning, warming up by lunch time, so layers are key. It’s spring that seems to have disappeared we go from cold winter to warm summer weather. 🤷♀️

Yes I’m from the UK and it is cold and raining outside but there are trees full of red berries and of course they are changing colour so in the sunshine they look very pretty. Nice video once again Robin xx

Most of my tops are plain colours, because it's easier to pair them with other pieces of clothing. However, most of my dresses tend to have patterns, because I only need to pair them with a plain cardigan.

Hi Robin! Thanks for having thought of us who are in autumn right now (colder autumn!) and are planning this season’s wardrobe, and need inspiration! You asked about our opinion on patterns, so here is a little testimony! Last year, I decided on an impulse to go back to a style of clothing I used to love but have stopped wearing, which consists of bold patterns and colors, mostly florals. A strange thing happened. Although I loved my new clothes on the hanger, when I put them on and looked at myself in the mirror, I thought that I looked like an old woman, but I didn’t know why (I am in my 60’s). (I try to keep this comment short, so I don’t give all the details, but I need to say that I don’t mean to judge myself or anyone else based on age and what is appropriate to wear - or not! - according to this criteria!)
As time went on, I regretted my impulse buying, as I didn’t feel good wearing these clothes. One day, I put on a classic outfit that I found in the back of my wardrobe, a navy skirt with a simple white top, and when I saw myself in the mirror, I was pleased with what I saw! The lesson for me: classic style suits me best! This year, I have to rebuild my wardrobe entirely, and I will choose classic pieces mainly in solid colors. I also love patterns like stripes, polka dot, and the occasional florals! Your capsule wardrobe with classic and simply elegant items is a wonderful source of inspiration for me! You look so good in everything you modeled! I love the pale pink on you, and the grey-green shirt brings out your eyes! I wish you colder days so that you can wear what you showed us! Everything looks great on you. I prefer solid colors and geometric patterns. My upper body overheats while my legs freeze at the same time. I'm allergic to most synthetic fabrics. My style is Bohemian and Eclectic.

I’m finding that I’m slowly moving away from patterns in my wardrobe for the same reason as you- I get bored with the print. All of your outfit choices are beautiful! How do you decide where to invest your money when it comes to different pieces? You always have a nice mix of affordable and high end pieces. Have you tried the Quince cashmere sweaters?

I haven’t tried the quince cashmere sweaters, but I love the pants and I had a Quince dress in my summer wardrobe that I adore- so far I find their pieces to be very high quality and quite affordable. 👍🩵

Do you have any tips laundering those sweaters?
Thank you Jeanne! I machine wash them in cold water with the delicate cycle and I use the wool & cashmere wash from The Laundress. I lay them flat to dry and if they get pills I use a sweater shaver. That will keep them looking great for many seasons! 🩵
Hi sweet Robin, I can’t believe I’m so late getting to see this video. I got on a big long phone call with my brother about politics of all things. He has one point of view and I have another. We are very civil but it always ends at the same so why even discuss it. Ha ha. First of all let me say I am so jealous of your figure. I have gained weight over the last year that I am having so much trouble getting rid of. I just about alwaysI have a Weight problem but sometimes it’s worse than others. I think you’ve made a really good selection for your winter wardrobe. I was so wishing it was cooler when I got ready for church this morning I have so much more to choose from when the weather is cooler. I went to church extremely casual but did not feel out of place because everybody else was pretty much casual too. My age group dresses up a little more than the rest of the church but I noticed we’re all getting more casual by the day which I think is great. Thanks for sharing this with us I always like to see what you are going to be wearing. Love in Christ

You look great in everything, but I guess I just don't see the need to change out so many items in a wardrobe so often. I'm not a clothes person, but I also wouldn't want to wear cashmere or silk (as luscious as they are) bc they're too elegant for my lifestyle. I just want fabrics I can wear for household tasks or the grocery store. (Plus I live in Phoenix where it's still over 100, LOL.) Seems like you must still have clothes from previous seasons and years that would be perfectly good, and far less expensive. Maybe it's bc I'm not a clothes person.
